iirc Saru and Oro were legit in the Reaper Death Seal with Saru trying to take Oro's soul for 5 episodes alone and were like that the whole time Naruto was fighting Gaara, only for Saru to only take the soul of Oro's arms(how does that even fuckin make sense?)

I’m gonna fully correct you even though it’s been years sense this episode came out. The first Hokage was the god of Shinobi, I forget the thirds nickname. The first earned that title because he made being a Shinobi a job rather then it being mercenary work. He spawned the modern version of Shinobi in the show with them being used to aid others and defend the village.
