As a stereotypical guy I don’t have a clue about skincare but I’ve been watching your videos for a while and I can finally contribute something! “D’alba” in Italian literally means ‘at sunrise’, and you’re right in saying it’s not “de alba”. Love your videos!
@@juliestrasburg7947 I love to but most of their recs have fragrance so I don’t watch the channel as much bc of that. My skin can’t handle most fragrance ingredients
I just wanted to pour out some love and say how much I love your videos. Something about them makes me so excited about skin care and I feel like it’s a friend telling me things so it makes me happy when I’m feeling sad which is a lot. I buy vegan an cruelty free products most the time which is also why I like your channel. Tomorrow an online order arrives from The Ordinary so I got a few things from them so I’m so excited to try them, plus I ordered the purito barrier sleep pack which should come soon. Oh and I got the medicube microcurrent gel which I’m obsessed with. Before you I was mostly using an Australian brand Natio, which I like coz they are gentle and affordable and in most chemists in Australia and my skin seems to like them but I’m excited to try new things and become a skintillectual! I love that you have been talking about K beauty a lot lately too coz I didn’t know too much and I thought it would be hard work researching what is vegan. 🌱 ❤ thanks again
I didn’t notice the dry shampoo in your hair or the rip in your top. It wouldn’t matter what you were wearing as you always look fabulous and I love your vids. I have become a skin2lectual because of you!!! Thx And I love that you are delving into kbeauty!! Have a wonderful day!! 🌸💕
Would like to see an updated video on affordable cleanser recommendations! I loved the Inkey list salicylic acid cleanser, but recently there are many reviews of the formula changing as there is a very horrible smell - I recently bought a bottle and was so disappointed at how much it reeked! Did something change?! Looking into the ordinary glucoside foaming cleanser to try instead.
Ah yes I love genetics facts. A while ago I heard somewhere that women of East Asian descent have more fat in their face. I mean I can kinda see that, the under eye fat is much thicker which is why I rarely see deep dark circles on them. In addition facial bone structure too, the flatter features cause less shadows, less angles. So that "even skin" is super genetic. And the smaller pores and less oil glands activity fact wow. I am saying this cause A LOT of those glass skin pictures are from women from East Asia, and while most people can achieve great skin, taking in account genetics is also important. For example I don't have a history with acne, so if I were an influencer and selling products for "my acne" it would be a bit misleading.
Biore sunscreen from Japan is really good. They’re available from this site called Tok Tok Beauty. I think Biore has an American version as well now but I think the formulation might be a little different from the original. Regular American face sunscreen makes my face break out too. But the Biore one is night and light for my acne prone skin.
My skin is oily but if it’s dry or I use too many exfoliants my skin looks so shiny and greasy and feels dry. I always use thick hydrating products. I also like using matte primers to make my skin look matte even though I have a ton of moisturizer under it
As an italian the fact that D'Alba is a korean brand, that says they use white truffles sourced in italy, and is getting so viral in the usa is kinda suspicious. No one in italy is talking about these products, not even the vegan - cruelty free creators. I trust you because this is not my expertise but still, I find it a bit strange
yh but brands like Cosrx and Boj is not popular in the countries they are sourced in. Like as far as im aware Koreans either never heard of or barely use cosrx products or beauty of Joseon products xxx maybe its the same with D'Alba
Not strange at all. Centella asiatica, pegaga in our language, is herb that grows around like weeds in Malaysia and used as salad for decades yet only recently being look up as skin soothing ingredients. Some entreprising youths make their own skin care brand yapping about cica but not realizing cica is the pegaga grown beside their homes.
As far as I know, D'Alba is based in Italy but the founders are Korean and apply concepts of Korean skincare to their formulations using Italian ingredients. I'm not a 100% sure ofc, but this is what I read back at the time I heard of the brand.
I mean, no one in italy is using anything besides whatever brands from the supermarket, small drugstores or that kiko/yves rocher crap. The average italian content creator, small or big, doesn’t show anything that wasn’t shown yet, only recycles content from foreign people. D’Alba is just sourcing the truffles in Italy and showcasing the place of origin because 1) italy is big on truffles 2) anything european gives “credibility”, therefore they can inflate the price
Same! I don't get it. All these influencers bragging about "glowy" skin and they all look like they spread a stick of butter over their face. I just got the Centella Hyalu-Cica sunscreen and it's making me look extremely greasy. I'd be embarrassed going outside like that :(
My thoughts too. Natural finish is my goal, not glowy or satin. However, everytime I have put products who leave this glowly finish my man always end up saying " why you suddenly look oily and shiny?" 🙄 So technically people in general also think that glowly is similar as oily.
I don’t understand the hype of the d’Alba spray - I’ve tried it before, and it did absolutely nothing for me. The I’m From Rice Toner is much better in my experience. It gives the skin an immediate, healthy glow.
hi!! i am an esthetician and i love your videos! i have been looking into chemical peels & was wondering if you had heard of or ever tried the medpeel brand! they seem to have a wide variety and i trust your judgement lol 😊

A LOT of people suffer from it and would love to understand why it happens and how to treat it! How to get smooth legs, dotless/smooth skin in general?! Please love, it would help so many out there out!! 🙏❤️✨️
I wonder if the study you mentioned about Chinese/african American also includes all Asian descent. Because I’m part Korean, my dad is half Korean, and MAN are we oily with massive pores!!
i feel for my oily sisters as i grappled with it during my teenage years. but just wait, age and menopause will do their thing and poof! your skin is so dry that it can actually be painful. sigh! i wish i could stick around and see our society evolve enough so that we care about hygiene, but not vanity.
Ok I'm worried to use matte sunscreen after using peter Thomas Roth max clear invisible primer sunscreen... I turned into a scaly monster 🦎 full dried out lizard for a week. Now I can't say that it was the sunscreen but only two things were different... the water in another town and the sunscreen. Now I get stinging with most sunscreens I don't get stinging with this which is why I bought it any idea why I would get that scaliness? It wasn't dry it was just part lizard or something. I just can't seem to find a sunscreen that doesn't irritate me. I spend most of my time out of the sun thankfully I work nights. I started just using mineral sunscreens like loose powder mineral sunscreen and I just tack it on top of moisturizer 😅 straight up drag queen baking my face in it and reapplying it constantly but I worry it's not enough coverage
How do you understand if you are dry or oily? Every single time I wash my face I’m horrifically dry and my skin turns into a little piece of paper I do my best to not move, and when i put all the ingredients at the end of the day I’m a walking oil bottle
I only wash my face with tepid water and stay out of the sun. I have fantastic skin and look 25 years younger than my peers. Two thin crows feet at 55 ain’t bad 🤷🏻♀️
I don't think there is any reef safe sunscreen. I try to limit how much I use and wear long sleeves and big hats instead. I have a lightweight dive suit for swimming.
No sunscreen is "reef safe". If you want to protect the ocean, stick to the land, mammal. Zinc oxide and titanium oxide (both chemically inorganic, btw) are the natural sugar babies of the sunscreen world and both are wildly deleterious to reefs.
@derBrasilianeRxD are you sure? She was showing the price on the website while she was talking about it. It was describing the 2 oz. White truffle gel/cream moisturizer. I could be wrong, but I don't see the point of showing another brand's site whilst promoting the product she was showing us at the time. Doesn't make sense.
Well.. Yes, I’m sure. The price of the d’Alba moisturizer is on display as she starts to talk about it ($45). She makes an comparison with the La Mer moisturizer texture and while doing so, she showed the La Mer website with the $380 La Mer price (it clearly says La Mer on top btw) I find really hard to believe you missed that, specially as you came back here.
