Both of their singing is good, not great. But the thing that really bothers me about them is their eyes. One has sleepy dead eyes, the other has wide crazy eyes. Sorry.
Hmmm! I remember watching this back when...and thinking that the beautiful young lady from Romania would be taken away quickly..then she wasn't. I do agree with her that nor every "Maria" has to sound like Julie Andrews and an accent would not have been at all distracting, unless they were trying to replicate Julie Andrew's performance, which is not possible. Has to be recreated in another person and I am sure that Ms. Andrews would be the first to agree. I also believe that, ultimately, this is why Connie won, because she looked the part that we all associate with the film, not the original Broadway production with Mary Martin, who was much older than Ms. Andrews or these young ladies. I just find it a bit sad that whoever he is, the other producer, felt the need to say that it had to be someone without an accent. Very disappointing.

@@latronqui You're absolutely correct. Giving false hope to someone and then ripping that hope away might be what happens in real life, every day, but to have it already in plan, that way, is terribly cruel.
