  • These pumps get gummed up easily. Luckily it's not tough to wake it up again.
Just one last warning: Don't force the barrels to turn with any type of tool, let the springs do the work and keep you out of trouble.

Hey, just bought a 1600. It will idle at full throttle, will not Rev up with the foot throttle or the hand throttle, it will idle from about half throttle with the pedal or the lever. Had it running with the cover off, if it twist those black caps above the springs with my finger it will Rev up. So therr is a disconnect somewhere between the throttle and those 2 black caps. I double checked and the spring is in place on the main cover with the 10 mm bolts. With the cover off and the tractor off the throttle will wish those black caps the full range of motion, but when I start the tractor the black caps flick over back towards idle side.
Everything is moving freely I'm just curious what could be causing the black caps to compress that spring and "disconnect" from the throttle controlls

What is the symptoms of of sticky pump I have one cylinder very delayed in coming on my dad said it was injector before he passed it may be leaking down and getting air in it or not spraying properly to get a mist for fire no issues with throttle just start hard and putters for first minute or 2 until it warms up I’m also looking for tach cable if anyone knows

My 1700 has a sticky throttle. I can control the rpms using the injector lever, but the engine speed can only be increased using the hand throttle. It has to be reduced or shut off manually. Maybe I am missing a spring that would return the injector pump to a lower fuel rate.

Sounds like a governor problem. It's behind the back cover of the pump but that's all I know about it. I've since swapped this engine for a Perkins/Shibu 3cyl.

My Ford 1600 was started to warm up and after about 5 minutes it quit. Fuel is about 1/2 full, fuel filter is clean. Still unable to start. I cracked one of the lines to the injector and I am NOT getting any fuel when I turn it over. Could it be the sticky injector pump?

This pump looks a LOT like the one on my Ford 1000 tractor. Is this a 2 cylinder too? If this is the same pump as mine I may have found the answer to my problem.

What oil do you use to service this pump?

I just bought a 1600 in great condition, only 1032 hrs looks great etc but.. it was running when I went to look at it so I didn't get to hear it from cold start. runs great but after getting it home & starting cold it seems to have alot of "rod knock" type sound. oil pressure is apparently OK since light isn't on.

Try some Marvel mystery oil or ATF in the fuel. The detergents will usually wake up a funky injector. About 1/2 quart. An injector pissing sideways can cause the piston to slap.
