When Matthias Hues stars as The Terminator/Robocop fighting the Colonial Marines, you know you're in for a good time. Ad in the most explosions we've seen in a movie, and a cameo by the legendary Clint Howard, and you have a great 90s rental.

It’s kind of funny how fate always seems to bring Robocop and the terminator together
A match made in sbig heaven
It's meant to be.
I’m all about Robocop & hopping vampires! 🤣
@@davidharris2151Tinfoil Robocop FTW!
The Batman v Superman we never knew we needed. Sadly, we should've it for the video games.
I think the reason this movie has such good special effects is that the coordinator for them was Fred Cramer who's credits include "The Towering Inferno", "Silver Streak", "The Deer Hunter", "Good Morning Vietnam". "Twister", and "The Killing Fields"! and Ken Estes who worked on "1941", "Romancing the Stone", "BLADE RUNNER", and "Star Gate"! That's some serious talent for such a low budget movie.
Holy shit. That's pretty incredible.
Adam Baldwin was Animal Mother in Full Metal Jacket as well as Jayne Cobb in Firefly and Serenity. Underrated actor, imo. And btw, this movie looks pure awesome in it's sfx for the era, especially as noted, the pyro guy/team's work.
It's a lot of fun. And yeah, Baldwin has been in some great stuff.
And… wasn’t he also in My Bodyguard?
@@JasonBrant Also Major Mitchell at Area 51 in Independence Day.
@@Lowbrass64 Yes. That was the first movie I've seen him in.
Also a fed in Predator 2
I can't help but see the pyro guy as Danny McBride from Tropic Thunder- cut-off sleeves, faded mullet and undulating in pure pleasure. He was probably trying to play with his nips, with a detonator in each hand, while the cast were running for their lives.
I imagined McBride too🤣
I worked with Adam Baldwin on a Hallmark movie ("Monster Makers"). Not one of the Baldwin clan. Great sense of humor and good comedic timing. Probably best known as Animal Mother in "Full Metal Jacket."
...and also well known as Jayne on the TV show Firefly
And Casey in Chuck.
Was an Assistant Manager at Blockbuster when this movie was released. We could not keep it on the shelf. Major rental hit in our area at least.
As a teen I was a clerk at a "Star Flicks" independent video store. Best job of my life. So much fun
Seen this in the trivia section on imdb lol
While filming the scene wherein Digital Man blows up a
house, Matthias Hues was unnerved by how the rest of the
crew took cover outside of a 500 yard radius, giving him the
impression that the stunt was potentially too dangerous
Director Phillip J. Roth assuaged him by agreeing to stand
parallel to him when the explosion went off, demonstrating
his confidence that the stunt was safe. Neither were hurt.
Adam Baldwin isn't related to the main Baldwin family, but he was in Firefly/Serenity/Independence Day/Full Metal Jacket/Mass Effect 2 and a lot of other projects.
Sad no Chuck the list
First movie role I saw him was in "My Bodyguard" in 1980. It was his first movie. Movie also has a lot of other actors when they were young, such as, Matt Dillon, Jennifer Beals, etc.
D.C. Cab was classic with him, Mr. T and Gary Busey and the Barbarian brothers.
I can't keep the Baldwins straight.
Too many Baldwins, if they aren't shooting someone on set, or finding jesus they are either unrelated to the core family or starring in Backdraft with Kurt Russel. @@JasonBrant
Digital man on laser disc? It truly is the future.
All they need now is Hologram Man and it's a cheap Demolition Man double feature lol😂
We're on the cutting edge here.
Well it couldn't be on VHS
Matthias, if you’re watching. You’re the man!! Did you get hurt in that explosion?
Brant gang, Happy Sunday!! 🎉
I asked him about it and he said no one was hurt, but that it was a crazy explosion.
Lol "which explosion?"
@@JasonBrantglad to hear that!! 😅
Weird seeing a movie where Matthias isn't playing an outright villain...but he's doing his usual thing, looking huge and doing plenty of damage.
Brian and Erin's faces when people get blown into chunks... xD Plus I imagine the interaction between the production crew and the pyro guy for this movie went like this:
"So how big do you want your explosions?"
"Yes."
"Say no more."
The amount of pyro in this is amazing. And the exploding people.
@@JasonBrant Seriously, the pyro effects could be seen from space.
The exploding people, perobably less so. xD
This turned out to be much better, than I´ve expected. Matthias should be a stalker in every movie. Most of the budget went probably to the pyro guy. And now I want to play an early ps1 game.
He should be the villain in every movie.
@@JasonBrantWell, when Matthias teaches you how to convert your writing from books to screenplays, then you can write the perfect sort of villain for him to play.
You can write endless villains specifically for him.
Excellent call by Jason predicting 10 minutes in that they'd spend most of the movie running around a desert
Got lucky on that one.
It's probably easier to get permits for all those explosions out in the desert. Or forget to.
So we have Matthias Hues (absolute legend), Ed Lauter (the cop from Death Wish 3), Paul Gleason (from Trading Places, Breakfast Club, and Die Hard), Adam Baldwin (Animal Mother from Full Metal Jacket), Don Swayze, AND Clint Howard???? How is this anything other than the greatest movie ever?
The only thing missing is William Smith and/or "Uncle" Joe Estevez.
That cast is absolutely amazing!
I'm amazed Brion James and Tim Thomerson weren't in there somewhere. I thought they were contractually obligated to appear in every '90s b-movie that came out.
@@jculver1674 Drunk Wings Hauser and Cameron Mitchell.
Replace a few of those cyborg not-Colonial Marines with Billy Blanks, Bolo Yeung, and Robert Z'Dar
Can’t forget Cameron Mitchell having show up in like two scenes
The opening scene with the CGI = All your base are belong to us.
*now belong to us 🍻
@@ImperatorSomniumI don’t think you got the joke lol
@@Anonymousduck161 I did, I just corrected the quote itself - "all your base are now belong to us" 🙃
@@Anonymousduck161 Also I just checked and my correction is incorrect 🤣🤣🤣🤣
😅 I know it's from an RTS game, but I totaly forgott which one.
🤔 Is it maybe... 8 BIT ARMY?
This movie looks like one of those 90's FMV games, and also like the live action FMVs that RTS games of old had (like Command and Conquer) not only the effects but also the way its shot, acting and cameras. I played many of those and the beginning is like a mix of C&C and Wing Commander.
This was a star studded adventure lol Just an FYI, Adam Baldwin isn’t related to the Baldwin Brothers. He’s my fave Baldwin too. lol. Also, remember that Jurassic Park came out in 1993, I compare all CGI to that. Hope you all are having a great weekend and can’t wait to see the Christmas episode 💕💕
I can't keep the Baldwin's straight 🤣
Adam Baldwin was also in My Bodyguard (he was the bodyguard). Did you note that Don Swayze's truck ran into a Pinto, and it didn't explode? Was that an intentional subversion of expectations or a failed explosion?
I didn't notice the pinto. Good call.
The cool grandma character was played by cult actress Susan Tyrrell, best know for cult hits such as "Forbidden Zone" (1980), "Cry-Baby" (1990), "From a Whisper to a Scream" (1987), "Tapeheads" (1988), and "Flesh+Blood" (1985). She was the narrator in "Wizards" (1977). She also appeared in SBIG flicks such as "Butcher, Baker,Nightmare Maker" (1981), "The Demolitionist" (1995), "Rockula" (1990), "Angel" (1983) and it's sequel "Avenging Angel" (1985).
Adam Baldwin is not part of Alex Baldwin's family. He's been in some quality stuff, too, like full metal jacket and firefly
He's absolutely the best Baldwin. Chuck? Firefly? My Bodyguard? Leverage? This movie? No other Baldwin matters.
He’s the best Baldwin because he’s not a “Baldwin”.
@@franciscodanconia4324 Well put.
Pyro guy was on a hefty dose of the Bugga Shugga.
Tripled all the explosion sizes, didn’t tell a soul.
Haha, that sure is what it looks like.
The desert area at around 14 minutes (especially the roundish boulders just a bit earlier) looks remarkably like the planet in Galaxy Quest where they go to get the beryllium sphere and Tim Allen fights Gorignak.
Saw this as a teen, 30 years later.....
7am in Alaska, coffee and dabs ready to go, LET'S DO THIS!!!!!!
10 AM in Wisconsin...same lol
10 am in chicago. Time for Wake n bake. Cheers
Did it live up to your memories?
Not sure the guy at 8:56 is the same one you mentioned as looking familiar, but I think he may have played one of the high school students in the Summer School movie. He was always sleeping in class, and it’s discovered later that it’s because he’s was working nights as a Chip and Dale dancer.
of course Clint Howard is in this movie. Is there any movie in the 90's that he wasn't in?
“Vasquez” sitting on a Sybian on the plane killed me 😂
My mom attended North Miami Senior High School with Paul Gleason (Trading Places, The Breakfast Club, Die Hard). Ahead of her reunion, she realized the funny guy she had been watching in movies and television was her old classmate. She described Paul as an athlete and class prankster. He personally pulled a very creative prank on my mom that she remembered well. It wasn't intended to be mean but it exposed my mom's innocence. At consecutive reunions he was said to be gracious and the life of the party. He particularly made an effort to assure her that any ribbing on his part was done without malice. I never actually met him myself, but based solely on how my mom thought of him, I think he was a good guy.
The title of this video is the best description of a movie I've heard in a long time. Shoehorn in a predator reference and you've hit the trifecta in my books
Same, I lol'd before even seeing the vid
I was going to go with spit-roasted, but decided on running a train instead🤣
"Did we just see Don Swayze wang?" is a sequence of words I never expected to hear in life.
"Grandma with the power stance" is the legendary and Oscar nominated Susan Tyrell, Queen of the Bizarre. There's SO many of her movies that would be perfect for the show, especially the infamous "Forbidden Zone". Btw, Adam Baldwin is not a Baldwin brother.....at least not one of "The" Baldwin Brothers.
Thanks! This was a fun review and and awesome film… wish more would be made like this now. Not everything needs 200 million dollar budget. That new Godzilla film cost only 15 million.
Totally agree! This was really entertaining and without an absurd budget.
dude that "just cleaned that trailer" is Patrick Swayze's brother
10:56 “Destroy Trailer” is one of the best jokes in an action movie. The hillbilly bits are gold.
Ah Laserdicks. Our next door neighbor always bought the most expensive tech. I remember watching lots of Laserdick movie on their front projection big screen TV in the 80s.
Ed Lautner and Clint Howard?!?! You know it’s good
Adam Baldman is not a Baldwin Brother.... he was on Firefly, Serenity, and Chuck.
and he was Animal Mother on Full Metal Jacket!!
Adam Baldwin is the best Baldwin! ... not only because he plays Jayne in Firefly and Serenity but also because he is not related to the Baldwin brothers.
Pyro Guy:
'Fuck safety, EXPLOSIONS'!
😂😂
Great episode!

I guess if the stunt wasn't safe at least the director couldn't be sued if he got blown to bits
Lol! True true. He put his life on the line as well so.... I'd be more inclined to participate if his life was on the line as well. But he was also behind Matthias, so.. ya know lol. That was an AWESOME explosion! We don't see that anymore, it's all CG sh*t.. ugh...

Wow three movies in one package courtesy of Matthias Hues😄
Hell yeah.
Fun fact about Liam gleeson, the kid who played Jeoffrey. After quitting acting after the game of thrones hate, he did a whole bunch of local appearances around his native Ireland. I ended up seeing him dressed as a cat as he was a patron for the Kilkenny cat laugh comedy festival. The cats is a local sports team name, and the cat is associated with the area because its the place of the only witch trial in Ireland
You asw him dressed as a cat? That's... interesting. Wonder what he's doing now?
@@JasonBrant yeah, fairly sure a quick Google can have that unholy image of him all dressed up burnt into your brain. Fairly sure he's reapproachimg acting recently, made a short appearance on a netflix show. Also he's jack gleeson lol. Liam is a whole different person
I also recognized the guy Jason recognized and I remembered him from the Super carrier TV show where he was a F-14 pilot...

“Possibly to the 4th power”

🤣
The scene with the guy, his girlfriend and the satellite dish, I think that is Chase Masterton who played Leeta on DS9. I met her at a small convention in Glasgow in the late 1990's / early 2000's. The night was run by a group of Sci Fi fans raising money for Alzheimer's research (if I remember correctly) She auctioned off the bra she was wearing for charity and waived her fee so it could be donated too.
The Baldwin, in this film, Adam Baldwin ,is very distantly related to the more famous Baldwin clan. He had a small part in Joss Whedon's Angel series, but is more well known for portraying Jane in Whedon's Firefly and Serenity productions
I would say he’s most famous for My Bodyguard, Full Metal Jacket, & The Patriot. Only those of us that are true Sci-Fi geeks even watched Firefly and maybe slightly more watched Angel.
Gregory Peck was in Ghostbusters? That's news to me! Lol
I enjoy these so much man!!
If "Terminator," "RoboCop" & "Aliens" didn't have all-time great action movies stories!
So this is Terminator, Alien, and Universal Soldier all in one B movie? It's too dangerous to be left alive!
I find it comforting that the best Baldwin isn't related to the other Baldwins.
My uncle tracked down our ancestors all the way back to 1777 and when no relation to Ashton Kutcher was found we had a celebratory family gathering.
I feel like I have learned that if you put Clint Howard in it, Jason will watch and rate it as one of the greatest films ever every single time.
You should check out Space Rangers then. Clint Howard was in that too.
Sassy grandma with the shotgun was clearly inspired by Reba McEntire from Tremors, as was the entire desert cast of characters, it seems.
To answer your question, the first 3D accelerators for home PC’s released in 1995. The first being the 3Dfx Voodoo. (Later retconned the Voodoo 1)
If we had gifs here, I would give you the hackerman one
2:48 If you told me these shots were from an unreleased Wing Commander game, I'd believe you.
I'd also want to play it.
When your primary weapon is the:

😂😂
Digital Man? On a LASERDISC? Oh yes! : D
I really want to know what the budget was for this. So, far I'm impressed with what I've seen. Almost to the point where I'm thinking "What is this doing on this channel?"
I'm curious about the budget too. The pyro budget, in particular.
The teacher from The Breakfast Club DID wear a pinky ring in that movie.
I'm imagining Danny McBride as the pyro guy in Tropic Thunder doing the pyro for this movie
Erin's face at 19:43, lol! Have you watched Frankenhooker, yet? That movie has multiple parts that will make Erin become a tea kettle, and the Frankenhooker does an epic "Hurr" face, lol!
I find it amusing that your favorite Baldwin is not related to THOSE Baldwins.
24:29 - Saying "Payback time" while picking up a massive gun is from "Predator".
We need to put some respect on Adam Baldwin's name. I mean, he's in Full Metal Jacket, Firefly the series, the Firefly movie Serenity and the tv show Chuck.
30:38 - "I can't believe I had not heard of this before getting the Laser Dic."
Erin forgot to say se also liked grandma with the gun, how dare she lol
At 17:26 I thought for sure you were going to mention how he rear-ended a Ford Pinto - famous for exploding when hit from the rear!
I can’t tell if the director was trying to make a statement or something.
This Baldwin is not famous Baldwin's Baldwin. He's a completely different independent Baldwin.
The Twins of Robots really got me 😂😂😂😂
13:23 Gina almost blows her face off carrying that toy gun
Wow, this was awesome, and I hope Matthias wasn't hurt. I mean, he's not dead so it couldn't have been too bad lol 😂
I asked him and he said he wasn't hurt, though the explosion was nuts.
Not just the big explosions, just all those sparks going off near his eyes. Glad that didn't damage his vision
There is no Google street view of the Kaiser Steel mill, but I'm sure you could run a marathon of movies that were shot there.
there are so many recognizeable actors in this film. at some point they got together and destroyed every copy, or so they thought
The cast is so impressive. They'll have to fight me for my copy.
Matthias is a legend with great screen presence & should have been in a Expendables movie, been awesome see him fight Dolph again.
Hilarious reactions, awesome channel.
Damn, that's a great idea! Would have been a fun way to have the rematch.
Holy crap, the dude in the unbuttoned flannel shirt with the shotgun was one of the "sailors" in "The Gang Buys a Boat" episode of It's Always Sunny!
This movie is proof that dreams can come true, even for lifelong pyromaniacs; inspiring, really.
Ed Lauter is in 100's of movies and TV shows.
this was cool, like seeing a Rob Liefeld comic come to life. big guns and gear and all. every character looked like a Liefeld one.
Jason.. the titles man, you out do yourself everytime 😂
Thanks🤣
It might be because I am on the older side, but for me, one of the funniest aspects of the film is that they used the metal shutter from a 3.5" floppy disk as their futuristic dog tags
28:33 Grandma is Susan Tyrrell... she's been is tons of movie - good and bad - and great in all of them.
I was trying to figure out why this looked so familiar, but I knew I hadn't seen it before. Dark Corner Reviews did a take on it back in June. I remember it being odd because Robin doesn't usually do more modern Sci-Fi movies, he usually sticks to old Sci-Fi (and mostly horror) :D
I'll have to check that channel out.
I'm like 6 minutes in and this movie is AWESOME... so far 🤞
The camera angles on the action... is fantastic wow!
This did not disappoint! This movie is fu*king AMAZING!
I loved it! Can't believe I hadn't heard of it.
@@JasonBrant I can't believe I haven't heard of it either!
This movie had just about every b movie royalty as characters, the actress they called grand ma is the late Susan Tyrell, she's been acting since the sixties, you may know her from the movie crybaby she played Johnny deeps mom or my favorite flesh and bone with Rutger Hauer where she played a medieval camp whore. Grand pa with her is named Phil Bruns he usually played bumbling dad's or grandpa's, he was in Return of the living dead 2 and was sienfelds first dad playing to type and one more actress that may seem familiar,, the blond at 18:27 is Amanda Weis, she was in a lot of 80's teen movies you might remember her from Better off dead, she played Beth, Jon cusack's ex who sent him on his suicide quest.
One more thing, I'm surprised no one mention the car Swazye crashed the pick up into it was a Ford pinto know for blowing up when rear ended, Brian you have one job, shhheeesh.
This is a lot more fun than I was given to believe by Dark Corners (not that Robin's criticisms are invalid). Going to have to look for a copy of this myself. One thing that did seem a shame to me was not exploring the humanity of the cyborgs more: they genuinely thought they were human and clearly had emotions, so you can't say everything they did was fake or worthless.
I don't think this movie was concerned with character arcs as much as big explosions.
@@JasonBrant --- Oh I wasn't expecting such, I just think it's a good plot point in general. I'll let another film explore it and just watch the kabooms here.
It's a crime that this movie has never been on DVD or Blu-ray.....
Just barely glancing at the thumbnail I thought it was another Fallout 4 Mod Showcase.
Deputy Chief Dwayne T. Robertson, in charge of police at Nakatomi Plaza 😂
The box says laserdisc, but the movie screams Sega CD.
Of course you love that Baldwin, that's Jayne Cobb, the Hero of Canton!
The "guy on the right" looks like the main protagonist in the "Space Above and Beyond" tv series in the late 90's
Adam Baldwin was Animal Mother in Full Metal Jacket. I checked, no apparent relation to the Baldwin Brothers (my condolences to Bryan).
I remember as a kid, always hoping to see Terminator and Robocop running a train of Aliens.
Then the Aliens escape! 😆

You guys missed the opportunity dfor a Circuirty Man/Digital Man double feature.
Adam Baldwin is NOT related to the psychotic Baldwins. He played Animal Mother in Full Metal Jacket.
I was wondering about that thanks
The pyro guy made bank on this one. And Adam is a cousin or something he's not a brother.
Can tell its 90s..
The female & male lead marines are basically Scully & Mulder from X Files.
Redhead & Dark Hair..
Adam Baldwin is my favorite Baldwin that isn't related to THE Baldwins
I will definitely have to watch this movie.
if I remember correctly without looking it up the main squad guy played Captain Picard's son in an episode of Star Trek TNG.
I need to see this movie, even without beer!
Adam Baldwin is not related to the Baldwin brothers (Daniel, Alec, William, Stephen), which explains why he is the coolest Baldwin.
