Ive been looking into either buying a KTM 450 or a 300 2 stroke. I live in Georgia and go to UGA, and I was looking for a bike to ride to class as well as hit the trails near my home which is about 25 minutes away. Most streets around me are 45-55 mph. Would a 2 stroke be a smart option or am I better off with a 450 in terms of long term reliability? I've always preferred 2 strokes as I started off on a 125 sx, but I want to be sure I get the perfect bike for what I need.
the 300 is a great bike with modern sophistication added in. It can go slow and lug up hills just fine, it has plenty of torque so you really don't need to be on the pipe at all for the 300 to be effective. Ppl call it a cheater bike because it's so different from most 2 strokes.
I did two a 250 and my 300, it was so much fun!!!! now Oregon won't give us tags anymore, it's BS. I grew up in NE Pa by Scranton. 20 minutes from me in Washington they can trag there bikes.
I live in Maryland and I'm sure getting a 2 stroke legally tagged varies by the State and/or County you live in. Maryland is a beautiful State but lately it seems to be ran by NOT zzzz's...
You're missing mirrors, front amber reflectors (2) and rear red reflectors (3), and does it have a high beam? All ticketable offenses in pa, and the angle of the plate is enough to get you pulled. Let's ride.
I was going to comment on another video of yours that be be fun to ride out near some of those oil field pads after picking up a trailer. My WR 450 was street legal in AZ. Opened up a lot of riding area. When you have a family it's a lot easier to just jump on the bike and go for a quick ride and not have to load up.
I planned on doing this years ago with my 2011 KTM 300 XC I already have a DOT approved headlight, brake light, so if I got front & rear blinkers, dot tires, mirrors, horn + have it registered do you think it's possible in Maryland? The #1 reason that I wanted to legally tag it was simply to ride to the places that I ride off-road. I'm sure if I could get all of this done with legal tags & all some miserable person would still call the Police just to mess with me or to make sure that everything was legal which is the only way that I would do it.
I live 15 minutes north of Pittsburgh, what area are you riding, looks like a great spot? Always looking for twisties to hit on the street bike and trails for the dirt bike, hook us locals up!
I'm about to start the street legal process for my 17' 250 XC. Did you have to get a bigger battery, wiring harness or anything else like that? Also curious about the maintainance and fuel economy! Thanks for any help
Nope go to Siccass racing they have complete plug and play kits. very nice factory type kit. fuel economy not to sure but normal trans fluid and air filter maintenance. We always run Motorex Crosspower premix at 50:1 burns clean and a little richer than KTMs recommended 60:1
wow thats a lean stock mix.. my kdx 200 is recomended at 32:1 but it's an older design when oils were different. Almost have the kdx ready for the street.
Knobby tires (rear) get chewed up fast on pavement, especially on quick starts, and isn't that why we ride 2t's in the first place?!?! Fuel economy on a 2t is never good if you are having fun when you are riding it. Also, the bikes are not real stable at higher speeds (they are light, very non-aerodynamic, and knobby tires aren't great on street). That said, I still do it, but save the cruising for a street bike.
make sure it has an MC title. I dont know if thats the same there as here in PA but here it has to be titles as a MC in order to register for road use. Theres ways around it, but that is the easiest way.
How many road miles do you have on it now? I have access to an 08 250xc that is street legal but I’m worried it won’t hold up to an 11mile commute (no highway)
11 Miles each way everyday would be so FUN haha, But if you do that I would get a more road friendly tire. We are running a straight up dirt bike tire on the front and rear. 100% possible though. Ive done a 70 mile road only trip before and I was ready for more.
im from pittsburgh myself and working on making my 13 sxf street legal at the moment. we should get a ride together for pittsburgh dual sport riders, i know some people who would be down for sure.
80 degree heat wave!?!....must be nice lol that's a pretty damn fresh day down in south west Texas, just awhile back the hottest I remember was 112.....I remember sweating outside on Christmas day last year.
Good luck blowing a ktm 300 XC up! The gears are almost like a wide ratio model but slightly tighter plus 5th & 6th gear are very tall. Off-road I have not been able to wind my 2011 300xc out in 6th gear? The 300's are almost 4-stroke like the way they run as they have a good amount of torque that you can rely on instead of constantly riding on the pipe.
Fucking eh, thats wat im talkin about thats bad ass . A 300xc on the road thats Christmas .. I hope canada lets that rule happen for me.. Thanks good vid
I just got a plate for my Husaberg TE300, essentially the same bike. Ordered the siccass lighting kit. A bit pricey, but the ease of install sold me.
The wheels hop because of the rim lock. Put wheels weight on the opposite side to counterbalance.
Or do wheelies
Nice build. Looking at a KTM 150 xc -w this week. Also live in PA and would like to make it street legal. Thanks for sharing
been thinking about doing this with my 250sx just to take it out West and hit some off/on road stuff. Great content.
Does the bike need a battery to run lights and horn? I just have a kickstart on my 200xcw
Where's the supermoto version you show in the thumbnail ?
Versys16060 that’s clearly not his bike. He stole that picture from the guy Who does...... which I’m buying this week 😏😏😏
So bro you didn’t need mirrors ? Just asking cause I just bought. The 300 sx 2stroke…and I live in Allentown…
Yo Wasup, I bought a sx 300 24 how can I make it street legal

I've got a sx250 I'm about to get legal for the exact reasons you have! Riding to the trails is just badass!!
I want 1 I use to get in trouble riding my 80 on the road when I was a kid luv the 2stroke man

Me too I live in the outskirts of atl I need the same done
I live in ga to lmao
350 4 stroke
Do you have part numbers to what you did to make your dirt bike street legal
Totally the opposite of shadetreesurgeon so i guess different strokes for different folks.
I live near Pittsburgh so it’s good to know I can get a 2 stroke. But I feel it would be hard to keep it in powerband.

Is there any way of keying the ignition?
What’s the top speed on these things

How did the engine hold up on the street
it does killer honestly, it cruised nice and you can get her up to about 80 without really revving it out to much
@@TopCorey you change the sprocket?

Hi, I wanted to know , in the kit you probably get a flicker unit for the indicators? and did the handlebar have the indicator switch , part of kit?
Would i be able to put any kit on a 98? They dont sell kits for that old of a model... so far as i can find atleast
Can you ride this bike with a2 licence
So like how do you get a title?
Can you do it at 16
I know this is an older video, but I live fairly near to Pittsburgh and was wondering if there were any good places to off road a dirt bike nearby.
What mix ratio are you running for the street ? Fouling plugs ?
It's really tammed or maybe it's just the way u twist the throttle
I got a 06 xc 250 I wonder if it's possible too tag it
I wonder if you could tag it in Delaware?

If something like this was bought in PA would you be able to transfer it to NY?
yeah transfer MC title as a normal motorcycle
Does the motocross version have the electrical circuit for the lights, or was there a lighting coil need to be fitted
I just read all ktm do have it. My 300@400 both exc so came with it but someone took them off.

Anyone know if 2 stroke supermotos are legal in Canada?

Take a 2020 Husky TE 300i 2 stoke with oil injection and add all stock lights etc from a street legal 4 stoke TE model. That would be a sweet machine
