    On a serious note; I suffer from loneliness, and eating feels particularly boring alone. I tend to watch youtube, etc. to get the false sensation of having a social connection.

      Right? Eating without anything else to do causes a looming feeling of immense dread and despair, and I feel like crying. In addition, for some reason it makes me nauseous so I can’t even enjoy the food.

    This couldn't have popped up at a better time. I'm currently trying to get back on track with meal prep and caloric deficit. Last month I was 10 pounds away from being 100lbs down and I self sabotaged. Stress and grief hit me really hard last year. Now I'm trying to intentionally put my phone down more, eat when it's time to eat. Pray, exercise and journal..It's helped. I've been more productive and energetic. I feel like I focus better. I'm in less pain. When you don't emotionally eat, you have to actually DEAL with what you feel.

    • @nasimakhatun09

      You can do it! I self sabotage too but as long as we don't give up we'll win. I read a quote 'learn to rest, not to give up'. I'm trying the make this my affirmation.

    As an eating psychology coach, this is the first step I guide my clients with as we are healing their relationship with food. Mindful eating has helped them break the cycles of stress eating, emotional eating, & binge eating.

    Mindful eating is one of the first things they taught me in DBT (along with other mindfulness tips) but this one is so important and such a tough habit to break. Because we are on auto pilot it is hard to break the cycle where it starts if one isn’t mindful. Good luck out there everyone! No eating while watching TH-cam can be good practice

    7:08 There was a guy who had a show on PBS in the 70s, Dr Frank Field, and when he'd talk about health and eating he had a catch-phrase of "put your fork down between bites". Was reminded of it with this video.

  • @LuminescentShine
    @LuminescentShine 17 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

    I read while eating. More specifically I read a book on IBS. I mainly do this because I a bad habit of eating too fast & have had an unhealthy relationship with food. It helps me relax & focus less on the negativity of my gut. Every time I eat a piece of food; I then pause to read a paragraph or a page.
    This has helped me with my eating habits. I don't know if I am still effected.

    This video was so helpful. I’ve been eating while on my computer a lot lately, but will try my best to sit at the kitchen table without it. I also eat way too fast, and know that’s not a good thing. Partly due to waiting until I’m overly hungry. Putting my fork down in between bites will help for sure. I think it can also lead to undereating for certain brains. I'm AuDHD and have difficulty with interoception anyway, and when my scrolling-while-eating was worst, I eventually realized that I was missing meals. Despite it being fairly common with various neurotypes, I'd never had that particular problem before. I just wasn't feeling hunger at regular times. Or actually at all. I'd begin feeling shaky and nauseated, which is how I realized I needed to eat, but never did feel HUNGRY.
    Still can't keep my attention just on my food, but switching to eating while watching a TH-cam video at least pared it down to two things vying for my attention instead of meal + four hundred different social media posts. And after doing that for a while, my hunger cues came back. Still not at predictable times, but at least once a day, which is way better than never. XD

    A wise guy being asked how can I keep losing weight. and he answered: It is very simple, with everybite you chew 45 times before swallowing.
    This practice can make Mindful Eating happen as you are counting while chewing.. also as enough time is for chewing enough time, you won't eat too fast and you will feel full rather over eat.
    Thanks for your video to explain.

And one that’s really close to my heart because I was prescribed mood stabilization medicine for the first time in 2023 and unfortunately, it messed with all of these systems that you talk about so strongly that I gained 50 pounds of weight and temporarily developed a binge eating disorder. And it’s taken this long to break the emotional and mindless eating habits. The practical tips at the end are great, I’m going to try to incorporate the first bite and put it down between bite techniques. Again, thank you for this video!

    And don't eat things like potato chips straight out of the bag, unless the bag is a one-serving size, like the kind you get out of a vending machine. You'd be surprised how much of a large bag you can eat while sitting down, watching something on TV or the computer.... This helps with portion awareness too, which is an "arm" of mindful eating. :)
