Rosalina is both the *easiest* and *HARDEST* character to unlock:
Easy Method: Play Super Mario Galaxy with at least 1 save file, then she will be unlocked at random on Mario Kart Wii
Hard Method: Get a 1 star ranking or better on all 8 Mirror GP Cups

Cinnamon Butterfly Listen, just go on VS., set the rules to 32 races/mirror and hard mode/random and PRACTICE! It only took two days for me to get a star in all mirror mode cups.

Part of what made unlocking these characters/karts so fun is how hard they were. Now in MK8 all you have to do is play a few cups and collect coins and you'll have everything. Not nearly as fun and motivating to play
nyr142 I know, right? I had to go through hell and back to get through Grand Prix in order to unlock the majority of the unlockables this lovely game offers. Now if only I had a friend who's boss enough to unlock the remaining fast staff ghosts...
Update: After deleting my old data and unlocking everything again in eight hours, unlocking all 32 fast staff ghosts was quite the easy task with King Boo w/Flame Runner and Dry Bones w/Magikruiser.
Now In mk8 deluxe ITS ALL UNLOCKED FOR YOU!!!! EVEN THE DLCS!!!!

By playing a Grand Prix, the character you unlock is random.
For the next game it should be a mix of coin collecting and winning cups

Airian NFL To unlock Funky Kong, you need to unlock four Fast/Expert Staff Ghosts in Time Trials. To do that beat the Normal Staff Ghosts by about 7 seconds (it may be more or less but it's usually 7). I hope this helped.

Greninja He is the fastest character in the game. Him on the spear is the fastest combo in the game, but since the spear has no drift, most people use him with the flame runner. I personally enjoy his cheers when you hit someone with an item lol

bruh this brings me back to the time as a kid trying to get the mii outfit B because I unlocked everything else and that FUCKING SNES ghost valley 2 time trial race where you had to beat a ghost in under 58 seconds bruh I almost broke my controller by that until i finally beat the ghost I almost cried my ass off 😂 and I felt so accomplished after getting everything in the game and I still have the same disk and the same save file ;) good times

I once unlocked all characters and vehicles in the game and won gold on every cup, when a glitch happened that I couldn't get the Mii Outfit B, so I had to create a new license and do all that hard work again

To unlock mii outfit B you have to unlock all expert ghost trials, this means beating all the easy ghost trails, pretty simple and easy if you ask me🥀

I always found it funny how Daisy is technically one of the harder characters to unlock lol (and you might even unlock Baby Daisy before unlocking Daisy)
daisy has one of the best character stats
This was my favourite part of the day as a kid, but if i unlocked something at night for some reason it would scare the shit out of me and i could never explain why

Unlocking 32 staff ghost AND getting Rosalina the Mirror mode way was brutal... never again. Getting the 32 staffs were easy after you get good but before your good you feel so useless compared to them.
For how unnecessarily difficult it was to unlock Rosalina without Galaxy save data, I would've expected a reward like the Parade Kart from Double Dash.
I miss having unlockable characters in Mario spin offs
God, I would get so excited whenever I unlocked something new in this game.
King Boo was the first thing I ever unlocked in the game.
When I was a kid I had to unlock Rosalina the hard way (Getting at least one star on the entire mirror mode grand prix), and that was frustrating as hell back then. But when I finally got her, I screamed with joy! And after I got Mario Galaxy, it became easier for me to unlock her any time I was on a new license. :)

100% this game was definitely the task, but I still had a lot of fun learning the tricks and mechanics to getting the stars and fast staff ghosts. Let’s just say getting Dry Bowser and Mii Outfit B was one of the best feelings I’ve had
the most satisfying one for me was unlocking mii outfit B because i had spent ages improving so i could beat all the expert ghosts, helped me become really good at this game

Back when unlocking things in Mario Kart was actually quite difficult.

Of all things unlocking your own goddamn MII was so epic.
It was the closest way for me as a kid to insert myself in a mario kart race.
I always loved not expecting to unlock something and the unlock screen taking 10 seconds to pop up and you hear this jingle when you're not expecting it. Let's just say I jumped a few times
After unlocked the 4th staff ghost in Time Trials, you finally unlocks Funky Kong (Kong).
After unlocked the 8th staff ghost in Time Trials, you finally unlocks Baby Luigi (Human).
After unlocked the 32nd and final staff ghost in Time Trials, you finally unlocks Mii Outfit B (Human).

I have everything unlocked (Including Mii Outfit B)
I always got exited when it took longer to load the title screen than usual
Especially when you select your license then it fades to black instead of immediately asking if you wanted to play single player or multiplayer
This helped so much I took screenshots of each one I don’t have and one by one whenever I get a new character or vehicle I just delete the screenshot and move on to the next one.
