    what's your top priority when looking for a new air cooler?

    • @Jajalaatmaar
      @Jajalaatmaar ปีที่แล้ว +7

      1: It has to be substantially cheaper than an AIO (sorry Noctua DH-15).
      2: It has to be quiet and cool well.
      3: It has to be easy to use it in progressive builds on different sockets.
      4: It's nice if it fits in many cases.

      that it stops the machine turning into a conflagration when it's doing significant work. Quieter fans help too (I have only gone for Noctua - NH-D15 and NH-U12A - so far and even given their reputation for low noise they're still not the quietest at full tilt.)

      @@Jajalaatmaar Yes to all of this. I would enhance point 3 to say not only longevity in different systems, but installation complexity - period. The is no need for so many parts and cumbersome combinations to mount a cooler.

    I love this thing! I just bought one for my new 13600K CPU and am able to overclock it to 5.5GHz (500Mhz upgrade from stock) on all cores, and 5.7GHz when it's using 2 or less cores. :) Temps never hit above 90 degrees, and when gaming, it usually hangs around the 80s, so I am absolutely excited about my purchase. I simply do not want to get into water-cooling, so this was perfect! It is indeed MASSIVE, lol!!! Like, really huge; it's almost funny. Appreciate the video. I give this cooler 5/5!

    Right now I'm using a Deepcool AK500 Zero Dark with two of FK120's on it, in a Deepcool CK500 case it fits just well. Since in the AK500 ZD package you got a second pair of cooler mounting bracket free of charge, all you gotta do is buy one more single Deepcool FK120 cooler and fire it up. It's 100% well presented design and cooling performance. My favorite setup of all time.

    i really like that they also put in a 2nd pair of clips for an additional fan. I really like that. Makes it possible to reduce the RPM on the fans, while keeping the performance at the same level. Maybe a test, if a 2nd fan has a noticable impact on the performance would be interesting. Also the waranty situation, is little bit "mehh". It does not fit the overall performance of the product. Maybe give this thing a 4 or even a 5 year waranty would fit better, and would blend it more into the top recomendation for air coolers. Thanks for the review.

  • @Hurricane2k8

    Warranty on an air cooler doesn't really interest me. Unless you go for the super cheap options, I fail to see what could go wrong. No pump that can die, no evaporation, it's just a few heatpipes and lots of metal attached to it.
    I'm currently using a 13 year old tower cooler from Alpenföhn on my 12600K and it's completely fine. The fan had to be replaced a while ago, but the cooler itself is still working and the performance isn't bad, really. I could probably use it for another 10 years if it wasn't for mounting.

    As far as the warranty, I personally dont find that to be an important point. People that go the route of air cooling do it for the simplicity and reliability of it. That is to say, the only point of failure is the fan. So, in theory, you dont even need a warranty anyways, when the fan can be replaced for as little as $10 and as much as $35 (Arctic P12 or Noctua NF-A12 respectively or similar options )

    • @lukehill5739
      @lukehill5739 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sub-500 RPM is fine on a lot of competing brands, so that's perhaps not the case. 500 RPM is indeed very quiet, though some people will want lower speeds than that for some scenarios. At this price point, the competitors offer the control and granularity on the low-speed side, but Deepcool do not. So that's a factor that needs noting. Luke

    It has to be substantially cheaper than an aio, it had to cool i7 or R9 to a level that provides similar factory overclocking/ out of the box speeds as an AIO. It should be either no lights or RGB, or have the ability to run the fan without the lights being powered. It has to be quiet when not under full load (so if I am working there are no distractions).
    Ideally I should be able to reasonably replace the fans with another brands if they fail, or provide cheap replacement fans.

      @@JayzBeerz well I dunno every system is different. I was getting close to 85c with the stock cooler thats why I got the U12s. Has never went above 70c since. Gets close to 75c on Cinebench when slightly overclocked but thats pretty much it. I didnt have exhaust fans when I had the stock cooler tho, added them as well when I got the U12s.
      But yeah I get what ur saying, back when I got the 3700x it had come out like 6 months ago or so and it was a top tier CPU so I had to cool it better cause 85c aint pretty.

      @@cskaismful ok. Well I always use a rear fan and use a case with a mesh front. I have the Deep cool AG500 on a 5900X and it keeps it at 60c while gaming. The Noctua U12A which cost $120.00 couldn’t even do that.

      Unfortunately, I haven't been assigned Noctua coolers for review, so I don't have access to many of their offerings other than the D15. There is comparative data from the NH-D15 in some of our previous charts, but that is a much larger and more expensive air cooler than this, so is not a reasonable comparison. Which Noctuas would you like to see? Luke

    Sry when you are so hui warrenty by Noctua, for this price tag this is in my eyes a punch in everyones stomach, when I see buying a fan and pay at amazon for +3 years that you have then the same as Arctic. Ohhh no I was wrong when you are near Arctic, they are from 6-10 years amd even not so greedy like the Össis.

    You happily compare this cooler against vastly more expensive AIOs but where are the comparisons against the Noctua D15, the Fuma 2, Dark Rock Pro, and other good and premium air coolers? Indeed the Noctua NH-D15 only gets mentioned at 8:19; why do you only include it in only that chart and not the others? Sorry but this video is just not useful.
    This is a rare epic fail on your part; I know you'll do better next time.

    • @lukehill5739
      @lukehill5739 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You think the video is not useful because a £50, single-tower air cooler is not compared against dual-fan, dual-tower air coolers ranging from £90-100? That's just not a realistic comparison.
      We have plenty of AIOs in the charts (including expensive ones) because they are what we have reviewed recently. We have previous data from the Noctua NH-D15 in previous charts, but I removed this from the main OC/40dBA comparisons as I am not happy with how representative that (old) test data is due to some testing changes. @@lukehill5739 You say that luke, yet you have £150 air coolers in that chart so your point is moot. People want to see how these compare to other coolers, and as the ND-D15 has been the benchmark for a long time it needs to be in there as reference. There are also a lot of other good coolers for way less money than the D15 such as several from Scythe, Thermaltake and Alpenfohn.
