    Good afternoon Mike
    Fantastic videos am based in a small hamlet just outside of Devizes Wiltshire, i have as my mobile setup a CRT SS9900 and run either a 5/8 wire hi gain on my 8m pole static mobile or the thunder pole tank whip. Have had some good QSOs from both Hackpen Hill and Roundway, normally 27,555 and QSY to 705. 26TG064 / CT4525 regards Tony

    Mike,
    Scott TX-107 Dallas, Texas, USA. 38 LSB (27.385)
    Great videos! Drone work is awesome too.
    I just purchased this radio.
    In America, it's an Any Tone 5555N.
    I bought it because of the righteous receive and the clear audio it produces.
    I too purchased a four pin adapter for a power Mic, but I don't really think the rig needs it.
    Maybe looking up the AT 5555N information on Mic replacements might help.
    Maybe we can reach across the "Big Pond" one day for a Q'so. GB and TC, 73's.

      Thanks Scott, thanks for the reply and sorry for the delay, I've been ill. Yep the 555N is just the deal. You are quite right on the power mike, in general, the stock mic is great, a p[wer mic can lift the modulation slightly and helps with DX but really, like you say, the difference is negligible , Thanks for you comment, much appreciated

      @Cohen Seth Thanks for your reply. I found the site on google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff now.
      Seems to take quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.

      Glenn Fryer they’re an awesome radio. Got one here in the U.K. It really puts the signal out. I took it mobile for the first time Sunday just gone and my first shout was to a station on the rock of Gibraltar. How good is that? 🥰 taking it out to one of the highest glens on Sunday with some burners that will put out on FM about 400w, and ssb nearly double that. It can be doctored to put out way more power than the standard 40w. Using an ‘oil can’ antenna which should cover all the bands on the rig. Anyway, 73’s and maybe we can copy one day. 26YB 167 QRT from highlands of Scotland.

    Mike I might be wrong but I did see a video about setting up the deviation potentiometer inside a rig when used with a power Mike and I’m pretty sure it was the 7900!!!!!!

    TBH tried The 7900 and 9900. Personal preference . I think the 9900 performs way better. That said, that probably depends on the individual radio,and how it was tuned and aligned internally. Thanks for the upload..

    The 7900 and the anytone 5555n both sound excellent on FM, but on SSB the sound off frequency and not half as good as they do on FM. but still an easy radio to use.

      That radio does sound off frequency or something?
      I’ve seen a few now and all were very clear on all modes!🤷‍♂️

    Hey bud. Just bought one but don’t know much about the radio. How do you set the SWR? I know how to do the SWR but can’t seem to get it done on this rig. Love an update or any one else who reads this. Thanks.

    Iv just bought a crt ss7900v but it hasn't got 11mtr on it, iv widened the bands to 2 band but I can't get it to sink with the uk cb band.iv ordered a download cable from Knights and I'm hoping there's somewhere I can find some help online to help me sort it.

    Power mic? set the gain low 12-14 if its anything like the 9900 the ohm impedance on those sets is weird..

    how have you got on with your KPO NM 532 power mic? on the 7900?

    • @CharlieTangoCBUK
      @CharlieTangoCBUK  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Robert, I bought the K-Po after purchasing the Cobra M75 which sounds very dull and not good at all. The K-PO sounds much better, I run the Mic Gain on the rig at around 26-28 and have the Gain on the Mic set a Third of the way on the slider. I have very good reports with the mic, however, the stock mic with this rig is very good too, I've had good reports using the stock mic but the K-Po definitely helps with a little stronger modulation and it definitely punches through the noise level for those who are receiving you with a weak signal. I'll try and get a video out comparing all three mics on this rig out for next week after I complete the nanoVNA video. 73's Mike

      @@CharlieTangoCBUK Nice One - I run the CRT SS6900N with a KPO NM532 - I find that the best setting on FM is to the have the radio mic up full and the NM532 up to the second L of the word level - I have the my variable echo settings both aligned and set at the 10o'clock position so it's nice and subtle. On SSB I wind the gain back to the V of vol on the mic. On the 7900 I think you have to alter the echo inside the radio and it's just on or off on the outside control?

    Nice Video, I have a question, I have bought the ss7900 its a lovely radio but I have been told it is illegal to use in the uk, I have a full Amateur Licence and can use 10m but not the CB side, is this true.
    cheers, Bear

    • @CharlieTangoCBUK
      @CharlieTangoCBUK  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Near EVERYTHING is illegal in the UK, last I heard, having sexual encounters with a non resident of your home is now illegal under COVID Law. If you are worried, just use it for HAM Radio

      @CharlieTangoCBUK  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bearofbarham You will only get problems on 11m if you cause interference to other services. I know plenty of HAMs running far more power than they should, but most are careful to use quality coax, antennas and tune them properly. I agree, its a great radio.

      ! 73s to you too. I understand that the CRT is French too! Yes, I'm impressed so far, the QC on it is spot on. Been checking the Frequency Accuracy and IF is spot on along with power alignment, modulation and deviation unlike my tti rig
