    I just got the Janome HD9 and I'm just learning to use it. I'm glad to find someone showing this machine.

    I really like my jack h2 but we can have our moments. The only draw back is when I do a cotton lining as I find it's too strong and I have to pop onto my domestic (husqvarna) and I struggle not having a flat surface/extension table. I noticed the vinyl you were using looked like a nice quality, it's so hit or miss in the UK to get nice vinyl in comparison to what you see makers in the USA using. As for you accent it's great, I'm north east scotland and we have our accent and some similar words as you so never mind what people say just be proud of it.

      Yeah he can be a bit temperamental especially with lighter fabrics. I use the janome to do lighter weight fabrics. I get quite abit of vinyl from immanuels in Burnley they have a stall at a local marker once a week so am able to feel the thickness of what I am buying I have bought on line in the past and when it has come it's been quite thick and difficult to work with x

    Great to hear a local accent :) I love my HD9, I must be one of the lucky ones as I can use text 70 on mine.

      Please share with your magic with me lol I have tried so many times and just can't get that bottom thread to behave. I always worry about my accent and people being able to understand me. Had some not so nice comments about it hence why no recent videos x

    It’s good to hear a local accent Deb 😁. I found you can wind the bobbin separately on the Jack H2 by taking out the bobbin case and lifting up the take up lever. I’ve only had my Jack H2 a few months and still learning. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos.

    I have the Jack A2 and love it. It is not a walking foot machine, but it goes through anything I throw at it.

  • @emmabarnard6012
    @emmabarnard6012 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Really informative! I'm debating between the HD9 and an industrial with a walking foot, so seeing the comparison is helpful. I'm only a hobby sewist so finding it hard to justify the price of the HD9, but also the space the Industrial would take! I just know that my current domestic is not coping with what I'm trying to do on it
    I see a field trip to Tysew in my future!!

    • @TheBagMakersSewCiety
      @TheBagMakersSewCiety  ปีที่แล้ว

      I love both for different reasons it may be worth looking out for a reconditioned hd9 if space is limited that's why I went for it originally x

    • @Hippyjeepy
      @Hippyjeepy ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s the same conundrum for me too! What did you ultimately decide on and how has that worked out for you?

    • @emmabarnard6012
      @emmabarnard6012 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Hippyjeepy I bought the Jack H2 at the beginning of December. It's been really good and has handled thick layer's of vinyl with no issues. But it uses bonded nylon thread which is thicker than usual and makes it unsuitable for any non bag making sewing. So if you were wanting to replace everything with just one machine, then the Jack isn't the droid you are looking for. But if you keep your domestic for clothes etc. Then it's great. Although it is huge, so if space is a consideration then you might want to avoid it .

    • @Hippyjeepy
      @Hippyjeepy ปีที่แล้ว

      @@emmabarnard6012 thanks for taking the time to reply! I get what you’re saying with the space vs needs. I think I’m definitely keeping my machine, just need to add another good all-rounder to the lineup. It does sound like the H2 might be a little too specialised for my needs.
      Thanks again, especially your thoughts on the bonded nylon.

    Great to see the Jack. I’ve had my hd9 for 2 years, the only thing I dislike about it, is that the foot doesn’t go up that much. When I get more room, I’m going to get a cylinder arm as you will know it’s the top stitch the bag on a flat bed machine that is hard work xx

    • @TheBagMakersSewCiety
      @TheBagMakersSewCiety  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's the hardest work I was in the cobblers the other day drooling over their cylinder arm 🤤🤤 x

    Interesting to see those machines - if I were 20 years younger (and moved house!)... 😉Still nice to see what's possible with the space and opportunity; you're clearly making it work really well for you.
    I'm using a lightweight mechanical Pfaff (not a vintage) mostly because it has a built-in walking foot so I can use it and a zipper foot at the same time and it's doing a grand job, probably more so than my heavy computerised ones might do. Like both your machines, I have to take my hand off the work to operate the reverse control which can catch me out as I find those sneaky bags do like to fight back the second they think I'm distracted!

    • @TheBagMakersSewCiety
      @TheBagMakersSewCiety  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have a Modern pfaff too me and her do not get on at all I find I got the reverse but all the time as its in a really silly place. I probably really need to sit down with her again and see if we can be friends. 😂 X

      I wanted to share I still sew with a Pfaff 1222e with built in walking foot my mother bought new and I was given it around 25 years ago. I make jeans, repair jeans and sew on vinyl. I am at a crossroads of wanting a really good machine. I was considering the Juki but Janome has really great reviews.
