- Modified BMW E92 M3 DCT Downshifts Incredible Sounds. This is my cousins car and he stopped by one day to hang out and we had to shoot some of these clips to share. This car has a full Eventuri Carbon intake system, full custom exhaust Super Sprint, Macht Schnell etc. from the headers back, software tuning, some Dinan suspension and brake mods and exterior carbon mods. This car is an absolute blast. Come along for the quick rip!

My first v8 was a Lexus ls400. I bought it when I was 18.17 years and 320k miles later and I still use it as my daily. I have a 435i I drive on the weekends. It has a lot of problems. I was looking into getting one of these to replace it but I know it’s gonna be a bigger money pit even with meticulous maintenance, better be mechanically inclined 😅… Might just go for it, that engine sound is intoxicating in a good way

I’ve had mine for almost five years, I still love it. It’s fbo on full e85 now and it’s not scary fast, but it’s quick. I feel like this car is a gift and a curse. Once you own one it will be incredibly hard to get in anything newer. There just aren’t many cars like it left. The feel of the car, and the sound of the motor/transmission are just too good. Be careful, You might be stuck with it forever like me 😂.

Love it! E92 is one of few 'wish I could keep em all' cars. Always wanted to do an ESS supercharger but was never in the right position. Probably best I never did. From 4-8+k they just rip.

DCT shifts bit more firmer which I like and love the NA sound but the QV way faster. I also think the E92 is a perfect replacement for the QV if one was to decide

The best m3 imo. I owned a c63 6.2 but sold it last year. I’ll treat myself to one of these for sure someday 🤭
yeah the E36 and E92 are my favorite M3 cars ever. I had a C63 6.2 that was a fun car, awesome power and sound for its time mine was a 2011.
Mine was a 2012 with 45000 miles. 57000 by the time I was finished haha 😂

He drove the shit outta that M3 Me personally I like the F82 better. But I own a 3.7 Q50 and love it for the same reason. The linear power band imo is more fun when you’re in the city or a canyon. You like it cause the power is right there at all times. Great video
I had an F80 and now own a G80 M3 the E92 is one of my favorites with the sound and DCT, love these cars I got my G80 in 6 speed since they no longer offer DCT

I owned 2 of them and want to get the third one now. You are absolutely right. They are awesome and i know it's not easy to find one with the right mileage for the right price. exactly i really want a super low mile car with service history lots of cars lack service like rod bearings, throttle actuators, vanos etc so those can become money pits. think the market is cooling off once dealers and sellers wake up soon

I bought a 2.6 sec 0-100 model s that has no soul, and wife forced me to get rid of the E92 M3. I miss having sound so I regularly come back here to go back in time. If I can afford it I’d get another E92 M3 any day.

I had an F80 and they are freaking fast as hell the E92 is an entirely different car now torque on the bottom end.

to make the downshift sound like that do you rev match or does it just sound like that when you down shift from the paddle? how does it work lol and if it is rev match how do you do it
it rev matches for you, gotta have the shift speed to max. thats how you get the blips
Its an automatic transmission the computer dose everything for u, u can downshift at whatever u want

The e92 M3 should never be an MT to truly enjoy that engine. I have owned many manual cars, and still have one. It is disrespectul to not have a DCT in this car. Perfect match. You cannot upshift or revmatch that glorious V8 with a manual. No chance
I agree i have way more fun with these E92 with the DCT than the manual and the same was true when I had my E60 M5 with SMG the SMG was so much fun to bang gears and snap your neck it adds to the experience

What engine tune are you running??
I was wondering if a zf8 is on par with a dct. They are but you can definitely tell that dct is faster and the downshifts are more nasty
the DCT is way cooler to drive the new M cars use the ZF8 but they are not programmed very aggressive like we like so shifts are a bit lazy at times. Alfa Romeo seems to have the best ZF8 programming I have driven by far.
ZF trans is boring compared to a DCT. I love the adjustable aggressive shifts. I drive mine in manual mode 24/7.

I’m torn between getting a DCT or manual
Honestly i feel these motors are best suited for the DCT in how their power band is designed I was tossing back and forth when I custom ordered my 2009 E60 M5 and the SMG was a far more raw experience, sucked in traffic and locally but when driving hard it was so much fun. Drive both and see what you like the DCT also seem to be a better value to buy these days
I had just switched from manual to DCT, haven't driven the DCT hard yet but no doubt its gonna be great (winter stored right after buying it). However, during the warm up if you leave it in D and have your DCT setting on the second or the third bar it's kind of sluggish; in the manual I would simply shift every gear at 3000 rpm (Wouldn't wear the rod bearings while also bringing it up to temp faster). So the idea of being forced to use manual mode during warm up (just me, you might not be bothered) isn't ideal, I would wished the car could take care of that on its own without my intervention given its an automatic. imo, the manual and DCT offers you freedom in different ways, manual offers you that feeling of having everything under your ultimate control but DCT allows you to drive it "faster" and be worry free. For the very least, manual with V8 is something that's worth holding onto, but the manual in the E9x isn't a good manual after all (shifter feel and difficulty to rev match perfectly). I would probably get another manual car to keep it alongside of the M3. Hope this could help your decision, both sides' got their pros and cons, don't let someone else's biased opinion (which i have seen lots in the community) touch you. In the end, if I had the cash, I would own one of each variant 😂
I had the same and i ended up buying a manual. I've driven both and the DCT with the S65 is a fantastic combination but the driver involvement with the manual did it for me. I daily it without problems but i would like to have one with DCT at some point too
