I walked out of an AOG evening service when the pastor challenged us by saying that if we did not like being here, we could walk out the back door. I was done.

Glad you left, I hope you find a good church, I attend a little country church nothing fancy, but I like it. I left "the message" last year.

I walked out during the “all gays go to heII” sermon. I hate to admit I flipped off the pastor on my way out. In my Sunday finest. 😅🤷🏼‍♀️

Thank you, Steve, for having Paul on. Sharing his knowledge is so important. I wish I knew how to open the minds of my loved ones.

I loved this interview! Lately I've been drinking from the firehose that is the Mormon phenomenon and wanted to mention something about demystifying the origins of a particular belief system. It may work for some but not for all... the amount of information available regarding the founder Joseph Smith and who he really was isn't enough for some to question either him or the present day "prophets."
I say this a cradle Anglican...we can even justify Henry VIII lol.

The apostles did begin to speak in tongues = languages. it should be noted that they were heard and understand by people from many different countries who heard this speaking in their own native language. So to be clear, actual languages were spoken and verified by hearers. This is not the case with people in these churches "speaking in tongues".

I came out of generations of one frying pan of Roman Catholicism and jumped into another frying pan of Assembly of God for 15 plus years until God pulled me out of that too❤️🙌🙌. I could write a book.
“The only cult people can’t see is the one they are in”
When God promised us - He will lead us into ALL TRUTH via His word - that should tell us how much deception there is in this world.
The next two mind control cults God led me out of was my STRONG belief in vaccines and politics. -My Idols.
If you still believe vaccines “eradicated disease” are “ safe and effective “ or the pharmaceutical industry is concerned about your health. - you’re deeply deceived.
    Or
The Republican/ Democrat Parties are not controlled by the same people.
If you believe that- keep reading and allowing God to open your eyes.
God Bless everyone- Put your Trust in God and his word alone. 🙌❤️

This was so good! I’m going to listen to it again. I deconstructed around 30 years ago and I so appreciate the efforts you both have put into helping others question. It always amazes me that some people constantly talk about maintaining their freedom, yet they give their freedom away so easily to religious leaders. Thank you so much for what you do!

Is an attitude of scoffing, prevalent in our secular culture today, influencing your interpretation of facts slightly? (2 Peter 3:3 Jude 1:18 - though I'm not saying necessarily it's the "last days")

I was brought to Christ in a an Assembies of God church, they taught me the bible, they preached the whole word of God faithfully, many lost people.e came to faith by faithful Christ centred people and leaders, yes people got a little excited in worship, (but it was genuine!) It sounds like this is coming from a calvinist background where anyone who is not one of theirs is false, agree there is always going to be some issues ( there is no perfect church!) but we need to concentrate on teaching Gods word and "rightly dividing" it, I am still in the Assemblies of God here in the UK and it is really great and biblical

The people who starved themselves in Kenya were part of the Branham cult. John Collins made several videos about it.

Some things this guy says about the Assemblies of God just does not sound right. For instance, Bill Johnson of the Redding Church is not in any kind of leadership with the Assemblies of God. Instead, he and the Bethel Church cancelled their association with the Assemblies of God.

Grew up in a assembly of God church and all I hear in this is a bunch of strawmans by these two . Not everyone has these same conclusions about the assemblys sorry you were under bad leadership.

I think Steve and Paul have some good points but my biggest issue with AOG is the religious addiction devotion to the 'aog' way of doing things. Ultimately... it is the most toxic, conformist, judgemental behavior I have ever been involved in as a church. I visited various ones and the authoritarianism they speak of is real. Very controlling.

I think you have to be careful with A/G. Overall, I think they are very sincere in what they believe . Each A/G church is independent and different and its leadership usually is good. However, with every organization, you can get a bad apple. I was in a A/G church where the pastor was a very strict hard liner. He really pushed the members for money, became somewhat bitter when the money dried up. This eventually caused a church split and the members voted him out. They are safe guards within the A/G frame work to straighten out problems as they arise. The big shots are very educated but you have to be careful with layman leadership. With me, I am a moderate and very suspect as any church gets too extreme. Be careful with A/G and strong strict pastors and watch your wallet, my 2 cents.
