  • We go over why we are selling our Tesla Model X. It has been fun for a while but it is starting to develop problems and we are going to move on while we can.

Thanks for this and your next video on what you like about the X. I look forward to your future video on your decision making process for your next EV.

Look at at a Niro!I have had it a year with zero problems and I love it more every day and the range says 240 and I get 240 or 250 at least. I also have a standard range plus model three and it’s a wonderful car but the range is a lie, I will say the model three has been wonderful for me as well just to keep it 💯

You are not the first to have problems with this particular model. Leo Laporte (a technology talk-show host I follow), expressed the same problems you are having with his 2016 Model X. I think the reason you and Leo experienced the problems you did was because the vehicle was the FIRST year of a new production model. I learned that the hard way over the years; it takes manufactures a couple of years to get the kinks out of any new production model. I appreciate your candor and sharing your insight. I am planning on buying a used model X within the next year or so and have been researching them like crazy. When I finally do make the purchase it will be on a 2018 or 2019 model. They should be less problematic than the 2016 model.

Completely agree Rob. Even the dealership said the 18s and 19s are almost completely different cars and they rarely see them for maintenance. Good luck on finding your right "X." -Dan

Have you tried Vroom? I recently sold my car to them and gave me the much better value than any dealer I’ve been asking. The experience and process is also very easy. Very document were on DocuSign, they sent carrier to pick up my car and the next day, they issued the check to my loan and the positive check to myself. Highly recommend. At least try how much they can offer you.

We tried Carmax, Vroom, and a local Land Rover jaguar dealer. The local dealer was about $5K above Vroom, and $10K above Carmax.

2019 and 2020 X don’t have any off these problems. It’s always when buying first year model having some issues.

I know Kia's have increased their build quality substantially in the last decade or so, but we are thinking more towards a Leaf or a Bolt. -Dan

Daniel Oliver McElroy I highly recommend the Bolt, I found a great lease deal a couple months ago and jumped on it. I plan on buying a Model Y after they start producing them from the Texas factory, which should be when my Bolt lease will expire.
