Great content ! Pretty detailed and organised review of your experience about TotA. I love this kind of professionnal guide, thank you alot ! You helped me to better approach and understand the way to play this league mechanic, go back on my mistakes and be more efficiant with my favors, units and micro play. As a Toxic Rain build i was hard-focusing on kill ennemies units, each fight were a long defense with almost endless respawning waves crashing on my base. The crowd control approach you showed here helped me so well (especially against Kahuturoa). Keep the good work, those 2 hours were pleasant to watch and listen to as they were instructive !

1:06:09 - You have the notable "Revenge of the Hunted" which only gives +10 spell suppress when on full life. You can force always on full life in the configs if you want. Usually when looking at your stats in-game, you'll be full life so that's probably why

Awesome video, and very salient points. I've seen guides by bigger channels that are more aggressive (and thus less achievable) for builds that aren't hyperspeed, so seeing a guide for TotA that is much more dependent on the actual mechanics is good to see!

I love WW in Diablo, so naturally a Cyclone build would be great. However, if you don't have much experience with this, it's cool. Anything melee or frankly anything POE related would be great.

I've seen the comments about cutting the text because its distractive, but I have a different opinion. I liked the text all the way through, in some cases it was distracting while you were explaining something in-depth but I needed the comic relief kinda comments in the long video. Very good info on the mechanic, I don't think I've seen anything so in-depth for any other new mechanic in older leagues, especially this fast. GGG could also learn from this, because this will go core after getting rebalanced like Sanctum probably, too many character customization options in this one to not be core. I'd be happy if they balanced the prices or units better while the league lasts but they rarely ever do that. Nice vid. I'm surprised @ the re-roll thing tho, I've gotten a few divs just re-rolling the last tournament reward...but I never got CLOSE to 2k so not going to pretend I know better. Very helpful, glad I saw this thank you

Grinded silver coins while watching/listening (don't wanna miss the subtitles!) Great vid. I had been playing where I would defend my side first, then shift the battle to the other side trying to kill defenders and help Flankers. This caused me a lot of pain at higher ranks. Looking to change up my build a little so I can fully embrace the zdps which I 100% agree is the goal as you rank up and dps falls off. Very well done appreciate the brain wrinkles
Nice video. well made build for the specific content (which i also enjoy content that has that feature. Most of the game rewards going fast and killing quick. it's cool if there's narrow areas which require different thinking). Thorough explanation of each reason for doing your method. The only thing i would recommend to make more like this in the future, is to reduce the amount of, and duration of, gaps where nothing is happening. For instance, just before the PoB section.

This is your first guide?! Man you gotta do more, this was amazing! As for mechanic, my high speed TR raider destroys defenses in a minute, and I rarely lose, but I find it kinda boring after a while...
Your experience is really similar to mine at 2000 rating. The one thing I would suggest is that the titanic shell (if you buy one, put it in escort... right behind your totem/back middle) it'll always instantly cast shell, and you cannot possibly lose with it. Your totem, his totem, your backline and two of your flankers become invulnerable. Aside from that... the "more totem life" accessories I think are decent on the top and bottom attacker slots because those tend to eat it the fastest, especially the bottom for some reason.
If the enemy has the titanic shell in escort it also tends to shield instantly. I play as described above (super defensive) and let flankers kill as many of their totems as they can, once the totems are done- I start using void sphere to move the turtle over to my side of the map, while still defending. Once it's moved over, enough AOE/units will eventually kill it. It's not fast, but it works. Sometimes will forfeit if I have one (usually save for protecting rakiata or ahuana from elimination) but I'd say I'm probably 95% win vs. them now with a similar build to one in this video. Also have multiple curses for this scenario... can start vuln'ing the turtle, etc. rather than temp chains + enfeeble. @Nam9xz @@Nam9xz

A good addition to your stretegy is it cap attacker totem in the start for ju half a second from time to time. It baits defenders in the front so u can cc them in vid sphere. too
ill tell you, i was surprised how good and entertaining this was...the subtitles were also very fun and relaxing for a long video! i was hitting a brick wall on rank 1.2k win 1 loose 1....now im rank 1500 and havent lost 1 match so far! i have 1 question tho...loot for me has been very very bad for past 2 days...cant drop shiiit how good is it on rank 2k? you can make how many divs/h in average?
I got a lock around 1700 and since then I've been getting several back-to-back divines but as I'm closing in on 2k I'm on a bit of a dry streak currently. I think it's save to say it'll stay very much RNG dependent and you can't really put a div/h on it but there's a pretty good chance for big hits, since not only are there the locks and +1 proj gems, but there's also the option of straight up getting a HH/mageblood/mirror or their div cards. Tl;dr: If you're looking for constant income I think you'd be much better off just farming some atlas strategy, but if you're looking for that one big drop, the league mechanic is where it's at.
Amazing video very detailed explanation and your explanation and pacing is superb. One question I have though is as someone only just starting in Poe is this end game stuff? Do I have to be level 90+ with full build and passives to do the trial mechanics? Looked like you were level 98
Good stuff! I've felt like I've been banging my head against the wall with this mechanic. Tried focusing on my flankers, on my attackers, on my defenders, on my escorts, tried going after totems myself, tried winning the war of attrition to boost their respawn timers, tried staying in the base, tried different gear and field items, nothing seemed to work. Doesn't help that we can't easily check unit stats. I never thought about...not killing them
A lot of good things in this, but a few things to note - if you kill things with hinekora's horn delaying their respawn, I imagine it's pretty effective. A lot of your strategies are what's been effective for your build/strategy, and even though I have a squishy I die in one hit build I've gotten to 2k, mostly with similar strats to you, but several things oyu've said are different than what I do. For example, frenzymongers I love - and put them in attacker middle position so they die asap, and I put quicker respawn or 50% chance to respawn on them, so they die more and more, making your army stronger. I've gone against kahu in 2k rank where he has a titanic protecting basically his whole army, killed the damn turtle over 10 times, and ended up winning, because he could not touch my army's totems. God that sucked though, a speardancer chasing me the whole freaking time while my phantasms were attacking the turtle, I died so much my respawn took about 5 mins.
oh also, the titanic shell is a beast if you're a zdps build that just sits on defense. you put in on flanker and it just eventually destroys their entire team.
this is a great video, well done! one question though, I don't want to make a dedicated build for this and on low ratings (I am 500-ish atm) I keep killing units coming into my base; however, I'm trying my best not to - maybe it's still better to base race or should I still stay in defense and let my flankers do the job?
Lost 2 divs early because I didn't build a strong enough team. I consider investment in learning the mechanic lol. Thank you for the vid I have been consistently winning and I'm now 1.2k. on a side note I suggest for a longer video like this to try to not put so much info in the video text because it's likely that the viewer will be playing the video in the background and not watch the whole thing.

Finally, someone admitting the Defensive slot is actually quite useful. Most other vids suggest its a wasted slot.

GGG made the enemies immune to taunt anyway. Only flaw I saw in this excellent video.
@@miramichi30 chieftain totems (with the taunt ascendency) are bugged and still taunt, something that is making his play significantly easier

i was hitting a brick wall on rank 1.2k win 1 loose 1....now im rank 1500 and havent lost 1 match so far!

how good is it on rank 2k?
you can make how many divs/h in average?
I got a lock around 1700 and since then I've been getting several back-to-back divines but as I'm closing in on 2k I'm on a bit of a dry streak currently.
I think it's save to say it'll stay very much RNG dependent and you can't really put a div/h on it but there's a pretty good chance for big hits, since not only are there the locks and +1 proj gems, but there's also the option of straight up getting a HH/mageblood/mirror or their div cards.
Tl;dr: If you're looking for constant income I think you'd be much better off just farming some atlas strategy, but if you're looking for that one big drop, the league mechanic is where it's at.
Amazing video very detailed explanation and your explanation and pacing is superb. One question I have though is as someone only just starting in Poe is this end game stuff? Do I have to be level 90+ with full build and passives to do the trial mechanics? Looked like you were level 98
Good stuff! I've felt like I've been banging my head against the wall with this mechanic. Tried focusing on my flankers, on my attackers, on my defenders, on my escorts, tried going after totems myself, tried winning the war of attrition to boost their respawn timers, tried staying in the base, tried different gear and field items, nothing seemed to work. Doesn't help that we can't easily check unit stats. I never thought about...not killing them
A lot of good things in this, but a few things to note - if you kill things with hinekora's horn delaying their respawn, I imagine it's pretty effective. A lot of your strategies are what's been effective for your build/strategy, and even though I have a squishy I die in one hit build I've gotten to 2k, mostly with similar strats to you, but several things oyu've said are different than what I do. For example, frenzymongers I love - and put them in attacker middle position so they die asap, and I put quicker respawn or 50% chance to respawn on them, so they die more and more, making your army stronger. I've gone against kahu in 2k rank where he has a titanic protecting basically his whole army, killed the damn turtle over 10 times, and ended up winning, because he could not touch my army's totems. God that sucked though, a speardancer chasing me the whole freaking time while my phantasms were attacking the turtle, I died so much my respawn took about 5 mins.
oh also, the titanic shell is a beast if you're a zdps build that just sits on defense. you put in on flanker and it just eventually destroys their entire team.

one question though, I don't want to make a dedicated build for this and on low ratings (I am 500-ish atm) I keep killing units coming into my base; however, I'm trying my best not to - maybe it's still better to base race or should I still stay in defense and let my flankers do the job?
Lost 2 divs early because I didn't build a strong enough team. I consider investment in learning the mechanic lol. Thank you for the vid I have been consistently winning and I'm now 1.2k.
on a side note I suggest for a longer video like this to try to not put so much info in the video text because it's likely that the viewer will be playing the video in the background and not watch the whole thing.
