This episode was definitely one of the best you've done guy. Adrian is still loopy in my opinion. Ngana is a whole vibe.....he has to be the kindest soul searching man I've seen in all your interviews. He is the human version of the feeling you get after taking acid. Got stuck in takaka for a month while backpacking around nz a few years ago, ran out of money and had to take some laboring jobs till i could afford to move on. It's actually worse than it looks in this video, i think i met less than five other normal people the whole time i was there. when i could finally afford to drive back over takaka hill to normality it felt like leaving a parallel dimension, what a wild place
That being said, if you have the ability to just chill and enjoy it without other woes, it can be really great. Gets you away from normal life and its issues, and just lets you really live in the moment. While I couldn't live like that full-time, for a week or so it can be a really great experience.
Definitely sounds like the perfect setting for a "magical mystery tour". I would hang out for a few days. Until the crazy starts to creep in.

When I moved to Collingwood the Gallery was just a basic coffee shop, and there was nothing in the yard beside it. Then Nganga arrived, and the energy levels went through the roof.
You could feel the vibe in the air, and the location is perfect for visitors because the Farewell Spit Tours Base across the road would bring people in for a look around.
The Motor-camp is just down the end of the street, past the Hotel where you get a really good feed in the restaurant, or takeaways.
Well worth a visit but whatever time you are looking at stopping, double it, then double it, then triple that because you will just not want to leave.
And don't forget a full days visit to Wharariki Beach up near the spit, plus a walk along the spit past where all the whales die when they get beached.
It is truly out of this world, and worth a road trip but I warn you, you will be back.
Take your hippie clothes, you will need them.
And your guitar.......

How do you know it's safe? In NZ, all the providers were given Huawei gear for free, and then would pay Huawei to maintain the system. 2D, Spark/Skinny and Vodafone all used it. 5g has the same amount of harmful radiation as your WiFi at home, or 4g currently. Plus, if China wanted to spy on us, don't you think they would've already?

I remember meeting a guy like this at a bus stop in Auckland back in the 90s. He was harmless and tripping off his nut at the time, he was convinced I was his son. On second thought, he had it more together than these people.
I am a Nelson local and have been to Takaka hundreds of times. Its a truly unique and magical place. All of Tasman Bay and Golden Bay are phenomenal, especially the beaches. Kaiteriteri, Awaroa, Totoranui, Anchorage. It's all very good. I've been in Japan for 18 years and plan to come home to the top of the South Island very soon.
