My late friend and tenor man Gene Walker played with your uncle and guitarist Kevin Turner, maybe in the 80s as he shared with me. I really admire your uncle's work and study it to this day. No one sounded like him, a real stylist.
This live recording is unbelievable!!!! I love both studio recordings but the tempo and the vibe is out of this world on this!! Total church swing groove!!! I love how he plays so far behind the beat the swings so deep and so hard the audience is loving every second of it❤❤❤❤❤
Damn, This is the first time i've heard this version, The Burner was cooking with some Atomic Gas! This now becomes my favorite, Wish I could have been there to hear it live! I definitely will put more time in practicing!!!
This is Great! Ron Levy was great 2! I saw him many times in Boston. I used to play with Kurt Krahnke who played bass with him. I'll get your book Thanks! Be safe
@Ron Levy OMG I have just dropped in on actual remarks from the actual Ron Levy - from the Cook County Jail - meaning, the flat-out legendary LP with the hippest blues piano tracks - they are unconciously good and I bet Mr King loves them to this day
Thank you Andrew. itsaulgood my friend. I invite you to go to my website & connect with me on my FB link and check out my book & recordings at Levtron.com Best, RL
There was only ONE! The Mighty Burner Forever!

OH. MY. GOD...
This literally brings me to years every time I hear it!
My favorite version of this tune :-)
Dammmmmn!!!! He just totally burns that organ up on this one. What a lucky audience to have witnessed that performance.
He was my favorite of the jazz combo organists. He didn't pre plan every note and had a muscular way of playing it.
Thanks for posting this!
It does not get any better that this. This is a true craftsman at work. I would have loved to attend this session at Du Sable Museum there in Chicago.
