Five years later, and this video is still helping someone, I pulled mine all apart and I forgot which way that little vent for cooling the alternator went. I actually put it in wrong. gotta love TH-cam university.
Hi Mike, I got a question on an old 6v generator and regulator. I have the old version service manual but it shows the generator with two post. One is 61 and the other B+(51), 61 states it's to the warning light and is the smaller of the two wires. The B+ 51 has the battery lead but also goes to the starter motor. What I have must be older with just two wires no post coming out of the generator. the small wire hooked up to a made in USA Sorensen regulator FLD post on the facing rear side and the larger wire hooked up the post 61. Not sure how to test this generator without the regulator hooked up with these two wires? I just want to hook up my 12v battery just to see if the generator spins briefly? if it does then want to see how much it's putting out with the regulator hooked back up for volts reading. I know these 6v are not what I want to keep on this but for now just want to get it running soon. My guess is it won't spin being it sat over 40 year in a shop just collecting dust.
I will have to watch this video again when I convert the new Baja to 12v. I'm 90% sure I did this wrong on my street car... Doh!! Thanks for the info!!
Dude, explain in what diection the WaveWasher goes. Also you mention 2WaveWashers.... can you draw this? I already messed up a fan $130. (1WaveWasher, 2Spacer, Fan, 1Spacer, WaveWasher, Nut) those steps. Also at the end what direction does the large Nut goes?
