    When I was a kid, I used to make motors out of juice cans, magnet wire, a nail, and some electrical tape. It was a great experience to see it work.

      DER ZOCKER really? if you have a drill and a energy to power it why the heck would you want to create this low efficiency motor??
      I was thinking in a SHTF scenario and power it with potatoes or solar cells. In any other case you better buy a Chinese one they are almost free.

    Please note that by saying METALLIC BOTTLE at 0:12 is not enough. Many canisters these days are made of aluminium and so they are METALLIC but not Magnetic. In making the laminations of an armature of a DC motor the material must be Magnetic. The reasons for the laminations is to cut down the induced voltage in the moving Metal Conductive path in a magnetic field to reduce losses, as a motor acts also as a generator at the same time while it is running.
    Note that in electricity one needs two paths, a current conductive path which is any metal but copper is good and also a MAGNETIC path where not all metal are magnetic in nature and in fact most metals are conductive but that is not good for some parts of the motor. These Magnetic but not conductive materials are artificially made by man with laminations of magnetic metals insulated from each other or Ferrite particles
    So basically when you make electric motors you need conductor paths that or not magnetic (copper) and magnetic paths that are not conductive.(insulated magnetic laminated ) The winding that was used in this motor is called LAP winding which is not a full pitch winding.

      @ssccaappeeggooaatt 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Very new to this. can you explain in more detail?
      if i'm right, its the charged coil that makes the armature a magnet.
      is it that this material, being electrically conductive, allows it to be turned into a magnet?
      if so, why does it need to be already magnetic? or am i misunderstanding you?
      i know its Wikipedia, but i did a little research into armatures and they said "The armature, in contrast, must carry current, so it is always a conductor or a conductive coil, oriented normal to both the field and to the direction of motion, torque (rotating machine), or force (linear machine). The armature's role is twofold. The first is to carry current crossing the field, thus creating shaft torque in a rotating machine or force in a linear machine. The second role is to generate an electromotive force (EMF)."
      en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Armature_%28electrical_engineering%29
      according to this, it seems to only need to be conductive?
      thanks in advance.

    • @vengefulenigma
      @vengefulenigma 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You have three different magnetic materials groups: paramagnetics, diamagnetics and feromagnetics. As the name suggests iron is a feromagnet and feromagnets are really good at conducting magnetic field, thus the rotor needs to be feromagnetic. The coils however don't need to be (i guess they could be) feromagnetic but only conductive and it is the current through the coils that creates the magnetic field.
      Now if the rotor was a solid piece of iron and not laminated, it'd create "loop currents" (forgot the real name for it), these are currents that form loops on the surface of the rotor, which serve no purpose but to waste energy, aka heat the motor up.

    It seems that you made a triple commutator instead of conventional double (that is, three metal contacts on 2:19, and not two), does that improve the performance? Is it always typical for three-coil motors? I've also seen a motor, where the coil contacts were linked with a small non-polar capacitor, how does this affect the performance?

I mean, instead of a motor that produces a spin when connected to a battery, a generator that (for example when connected to a windmill) would produce electric energy?

    • @AppleManiagaming

    • @bramza8853

      If im correct you should be able to generate a small voltage with your electromotor when you use it as dynamo. Plug both ends of the cable in a voltmeter and spin the cilinder that would normally spin when you give it electricity. This should generate a small amount of voltage. I could be totally wrong but i think this is possible.

    У тебя же был CD-привод с готовым моторчиком))) Зачем столько мучений, ради плохого мотора с плохим КПД?

    • @IdeaFX
      @IdeaFX 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Denis Tyruanskiy во-первых, КПД при таком исполнении не может быть высоким. Сердечник коллектора выполнен из малого числа пластин, там больше сухой сварки, чем металла. Соответственно, ЭДС будет малой, т.к. магнитное поле медного проводника тупо нечем концентрировать, больше рассеивается. На валу двигателя нет ни подшипников, ни даже втулок. Помимо этого, отверстия в частях корпуса вряд-ли отцентрованы(да это и невозможно при такой конструкции). Так что ещё и потери на трение бешенные. Щетки из плоских кусков металла - не лучшая идея, т.к. нагар, плохой контакт и как следствие, опять же потери на трение и потери мощности на плохой проводимости контактов. Так же я сомневаюсь, что ротор кто-то центровал и уравнивал обмотки по сопротивлению и весу. Да, это работает по принципу "и так сойдёт", но сможет ли такой мотор что-то привести в движение, кроме куска изоленты на своей оси? Не думаю.
      Во-вторых, руки у меня совсем не из жопы растут. Я работаю в сфере энергетики, соответственно в мой профиль входит автоматика, электроника, теплотехника, гидравлика, газовые сети и оборудование, КИП, ОПС, и много всего по мелочи. Если обслуживание и ремонт промышленного оборудования всё ещё ни о чем не говорят, то могу в пример привести то, что я в рамках хобби делал: индикаторные и измерительные приставки и приборы, датчик уровня воды в деаэраторе для контроллера ОВЕН, как и все когда-то активный сабвуфер, блоки питания, сейчас добавляю миди интерфейс синтезатору Ямаха, которого не было по заводу. Из механики собирал ДВС (вазовский, да, но на тот момент у меня была жига, поэтому вот), с повышением мощности конечно же. Ремонировал корпуса пластивых китайских мопедов. Покрасил несколько машин. Из художеств всяких: интро для Ютуб каналов, несколько мультов, один из них клип на песню и отрисован он покадровой анимацией. Думаю, это все даёт мне право не считаться рукожопом.
      А ты, диванный комментатор Хренов, пойди в библиотеке сопромат, хотя бы, почитай на досуге, чтобы узнать что-то о потерях, прочности и КПД. И тогда не будешь глупости в комменты писать.

    You use enameled copper wire right? So what is the purpose of the little bends (3) you make after each coil? Since it's enameled current does not go through it at that point, am I wrong? Also, since the magnetic field made by the coils is inwards towards the center, does that attract or repel the north magnet? Thanks

    • @arnaudjouanin7561
      @arnaudjouanin7561 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I guess the little bends are necesary to solder the coil wire to the commutators to switch the magnetic field.
      The direction of the magnetic fields depends which brush you plug to the + of the battery

    so how powerful this motor is ?

    • @MrZauberwuerfel
      @MrZauberwuerfel 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      well its a dc motor, it depends on the voltage you put on it
      with a high enough voltage it should be powerful enough, that you cant stop it from starting to turn
      but since there is no cooling on it, you can only expect a lot of power for a short time, or it will overheat
      i guess for a permanent load it could do about 30 Watts

    How to make a simple inexpensive DC motor!
    1st. Break apart a $200 1TB hard drive. See this little metal rod? We're using that.
    2nd. Get the enameled copper wire from this $20 transformer.
    3rd. Use this $5 deodorant bottle as a casing.
    And of course glue, magnets and M seal!
    voila a cheap motor!
    I'm just teasing you about the parts. This is absolutely brilliant! I plan on homeschooling my kids, and we'll definitely be doing this once they're old enough.

    So, by explaining NOTHING, by never using a closeup to show what you are doing, by using some magical grey putty that no one knows anything about, etc etc, you think you have shown "how to" do something? God made us able to speak for a reason, so we can explain things.

I am subscribing to you now.
