  • SHOTGUN HACK: Less Recoil with This Easy Solution | In our experience, less shotgun recoil always results in better performance and more enjoyment. It's true that we can 'handle" guns with a lot of recoil, but at the end of the day, less recoil is always better. A few years ago we tested a product called the FalconStrike Recoil Reduction System and instantly became believers in the product. In today's video, we're going to be walking through how to purchase and install a Falcon Strike. Ready? Let's go! Get a FalconStike here ⌲ targetfocused.link/falconstri...

@@edwardabrams4972 FalconStrike with liquid has to be softer shooting than Limbsaver. Maybe by a small margin but still I bet the FalconStrike would absorb more recoil. Now whether the gun moves sideways or squirms more one way or the other with the FalconStrike I would have to try one and see about that.
For me and my 20" barreled Remington 11 with a decent foam pad that looks to be a Limbsaver that runs slugs, buck and hi base # 4's to lay down poppers in 2-3 gun matches, I would say even a small reduction in recoil is worth the extra dollars. I also know the FalconStrike would be softer on my sporterized 03-A3 30-06 with it's 54 year old Pachmayr pad and I will be buying one for that rifle.

It absolutely works. I put one on a 12ga. O/U that had a pretty nasty recoil. Now it shoots like a dream. I also had a 13 year old shooter try it and he felt very little recoil. Great great product. I highly recommend it for older shooters like myself.

Love your channel and your advice. And thank you for this video. I'm now in the " I hate recoil" group. I'm 64, recently retired and getting back into shooting. I had rotator cuff/torn bicep surgery a year ago and I thought I was ready. My current sporting clays gun is a Beretta 686 and it kicks like a horse. I truly hate shooting it.50 rounds and my shoulder is killing me. So I'm shopping around and looking for advice. I'm even concidering dropping to 20 ga. Or do I install a Falcon Strike ?
My BT-99 trap gun is awesome tho and doesn't hurt at all.

Years ago my father inlaw took me shooting clays for the first time. I had the hand me down Silver pigeon, wasn't horrible with light loads. A Teknys was in the safe the next trip out and was great. Next trip the Teknys was sold and I was handed a SBE and we went to my first Sporting clays field. 3 shots in and I tapped out. I'm not sure if it was heavier loads or what but that thing was kicking. We spent the rest of the course passing his cynergy with a JS airstock back and forth.

Sharing another technique to grind the metal plate. I installed the plate and covered the stock with 2 layers of masking tape, to protect it. Sanded the metal plate using a few strips of 150 grit sandpaper, wrapped around a small wood block. Positioned the sandpaper strip about ⅜ inch below block's top edge. That way, I could have the block’s top edge “sliding” on the masking tape, while the sandpaper below was sanding the metal, progressively matching the stock's shape and angle. I originally thought about polishing the metal plate edge, but was pleased with the “brushed aluminum” look finishing strokes of 150 grit gave.

I’m in the camp that believes correct ‘pitch’ combined with any good pad will mitigate recoil better than any recoil pad by itself (if pitch isn’t correct for any given shooter). I’d like to see you do a video on ’pitch’ and it’s effect on felt recoil.

I don't have to worry about recoil b/c I put Falcon Strikes on both of my Go-2's; a Franchi Instinct Side Plate 12 Gauge and a matching (both stocks milled from the same billet of gorgeous walnut) 20 Gauge Side Plate. The Falcon Strikes made the LOPs on both guns perfect and recoil, especially on the 12 Gauge, is negligible on both guns also. Pre-Falcon Strike install, I had the identical problem with my 12 Gauge Franchi as Steve referred to; sore cheek halfway through a box of shells. I shot two rounds of 5 Stand and two rounds of Skeet with the 12 last Saturday (100+ shotshells) and suffered no ill effects whatsoever; no shoulder bruise, no sore cheek and no detached retinas!

Falcon Strike, after watching many of your videos last year or so, I hate excessive recoil, so I just bought one for a CVC 12 gauge sporting clays over under, like you I loved the gun but after a box of shells I sat it down and really haven’t shot it much because of the recoil I would flinch! So I called Falcon Strike, ended up talking to the owner, he is gentleman and helped pick the right pad! I took my gun and new pad and wanted it done by a gunsmith, I haven’t got it back yet, as soon as I get it, I will go to our local gun club and shoot it! I can’t wait, thanks for your input! I plan to buy one for my beretta 303 trap gun if it works on my over under! And how do you put one on an Franchi Affinity 3, with odd shape at the butt??? Thanks again!

I find it amazing that with as much shooting as you do, it seems as though you don’t understand the relationship between the shells you are shooting and felt recoil. Recoil has very little to with the gun and everything to do with the dynamics of the shell you choose. To oversimplify: Shoot a heavy load through a light gun and you will feel more recoil. Shoot a light shell through a heavy gun and recoil will be reduced.
This is why many used guns with the title “light” or “ultralight” will often have cracked stocks or other issues, they aren’t meant to take the abuse of heavier loads, they break down quicker and will usually have far more felt recoil, unless we are talking about auto loaders which do absorb some recoil.

I'm on my 3rd microcore Beretta pad because they keep breaking down (beretta says its from cleaning chemical or bug spray) Next time I need a pad I'll give this a shot.

Anyone know which Falcon Strike is best fit for Stevens 555 20 gauge?

  • @usnairframer
    @usnairframer 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

Recoil isn't a huge issue for me, but I hunt and shoot trap/skeet regularly with a 12 gauge Benelli M2, and I've had two shoulder surgeries on my right shoulder, so I suspect the impact of the recoil on that shoulder will take its toll sooner rather than later. I've been looking to buy a Falcon Strike pad, but have been procrastinating, and worried it wouldn't fit quite right. This video really helped alleviate most of my worries about that though. Thanks!

Anyone that’s recoil sensitive a Benelli should be their last choice. Those guns are inertia driven and kick way harder than something like a browning or beretta that are gas. I’ve had them all and I bet I’ve had at least 6 different benellis over the years and after breaking my neck in 07 in a bad ATV accident having both my old SX2 and my beloved Benelli cordoba and shooting at my buddies farm for 2 days cleaning up access ducks, we shot over 130 ducks and man I was tired the afternoon of the 2nd day, both guns with me, the heavier and has operated SX2 Was by far the clear winner and as much as my trusty cordoba had been to me, I knew without a doubt i would no longer ever own another inertia 12. That was about 10yrs ago and every time on the sporting clay courses someone offers me to shoot their new Benelli I’ll shoot it but definitely reaffirms they kick like a mule, tnx but no tnx. YMMW

@@FYMM69 Well, the options available here in Japan are very limited, so Benelli is the way to go. You're not even allowed to try a gun before you buy it here to see if the recoil is too much anyway.
I'm also 274 lbs and have quite a bit of muscle so the recoil really doesn't even register to me for the most part. Then again, I'm not out shooting 50 field load slugs in a row for practice here. Though, if the laws were more relaxed I would be shooting far more often.

I’m in the camp that says recoil is a necessary evil, so the less the better. It would be interesting to put this on my Affinity 20ga, which gets a like painful after 50 clays.

Shot my 12ga o/u the other day and the trigger guard cut my Kunkle it kicked. I switched back to my 20ga to finish out the day. Recoil was not a problem when I was young and dumb, but now as I am approaching my twilight years it has become more of a concern.

Recoil never stopped me from shooting but everyone can get back on target faster with less recoil. If given a falcanstrike, I would definitely use it. And like you, most shotguns are too "short" in the LOP area

I've never had issues with recoil. My citori and mossberg have been great. I will give you a honest evaluation, but I don't see how this would make that much of a difference versus proper mount. But hey....I might be wrong.
