Less Shotgun Recoil? Falcon Strike Recoil Reduction

  • Less Shotgun Recoil? The Falcon Strike makes some big claims about reducing felt recoil from a shotgun and I had to try it for myself to see if it actually works.

    FalconStrike Claims:
    80% Less Recoil Energy
    35% Less Muzzle Lift
    25% Less Peak Force
35% Less Rock Back Reduce Recoil
There's really no easy way to test these claims for accuracy but I wanted to know it does the FalconStrike Recoil Reduction System significantly reduces the felt recoil?
To put the FalconStrike to the test I used a Winchester Model 101. I enjoy shooting my 101 but only for a little while. Every time I shoot my 101 it feels like I am getting a light punch to my face. The recoil into my face makes shooting the 101 a less than ideal experience. I decided in advance that if the FalconStike could reduce the recoil and lower make it so my face didn't hurt from shooting, I would be sold on it.
After installing the FalconStrike and getting some rounds downrange, I could instantly tell the difference. I was no longer getting punched in the face. The recoil pulse was reduced and my model 101 was now more enjoyable to shoot making the FalconStike a winner in my book.

I'd like to see a side by side comparison with a Limb Saver, to see if the huge price gap is really worth it.

I installed Falcon Strike Custom Pads on my matching pair 12 gauge and 20 gauge Franchi Instinct Sideplates. The recoil on the 12 was banging the snot outta my cheek and my shoulder. A round of skeet, or 5 Stand and I was rocking a headache and a sore cheek. With the Falcon Strike installed on the 12 gauge, I shot limits of doves for five days without any discomfort whatsoever.
I installed a Falcon Strike on the 5 lb 7oz 20 gauge and it is even more delightful to shoot than it was previously. An added benefit to the Falcon Strike installations is that by using 1/8" spacers, both guns are now exactly at 15" LOP which is the perfect fit for my long arms and has increased my ability to hit what I'm shooting at. Great product, worth the $.

Alot of folks are mentioning the limbsaver recoil pads and as I have/do use them, both the original & airtech model, I can say they work wonderfully!!! That said, the only actual "pad" I've used, and still do, is the Remington supercell recoil pad. I realize this pad is made specifically for Remington firearms they will fit other firearms (maybe not a factory look) but they fit. And I can tell you this, I have one on a 7mm Rem mag, the rifle weighs around 8 lbs. +/- and the recoil is equal to that of a .243 Remington round. I used one on an 870 gun (turkey specific) and the recoil was that of a stout 20 gauge turkey load....bare in mind I was shooting 3.5" 2 oz. turkey loads out of an 8lb. shotgun. The next closest recoil reduction system I would consider for this kind of money is the Beretta kick off. Honestly here's the way I approach having to shoot alot of harsh recoiling firearms. Put that baby in a lead sled for your testing/sighting in process, and honestly I and alot of folks never feel "the shot" when hunting. Hope thus helps!!!

I have the Bass Pro Ultimate Special 101. I just happened to get one by luck with high grade flamed wood. It shoots great especially with the diffuser chokes. BUT, like you I can handle the shoulder recoil, but it is the Mike Tyson punch in my jaw that leaves me sore for week. I have considered selling the gun and buyin something else, but it is too pretty. I have looked into the Gracoils but pricey. This option looks interesting but my question is, can the pad be custom fit? The overhang on your firearm would drive me crazy. I am a little OCD. I enjoyed the video.

@@TargetFocusedLife The longer LoP fitted your shoulder pocket better with the mount leaving less chance for a gap without you having to choke up on the stock. Also the longer LoP can help with the pitch of the shotgun reducing the comb slapping your face as hard. I guess the extra elastic can help with felt recoil reduction but ill hazard a guess a proper gun fit would've done as good as or a better job. I know you're a great shot so you can pretty much use anything and hit what you need to but a good gun fit is a must for things like FITASC to stay consistent and minimising flip, felt recoil etc. On top of that id love to see some shooting from you at sporting or maybe some tours of the venues you can shoot at in the US as being in the UK i haven't been able to travel to any of the international shoots the past year or so! Keep up the great content.

i have a Beretta 1301 shotgun - with the Magpul SGA stock. Ordered from the "custom-fit pads" product section (in hindsight I think I was supposed to order from the "multi-fit pads"). The product arrives - and it does not fit the Magpul SGA stock. So I order the Magpul SGA adapter - that supposedly makes the stock more "standard". Now the Falconstrike does fit, but there is like a half-inch gap on top - the pad sits asymmetrical to the stock. Not pretty - but if the product delivers on its promise it will be worth it. I will find out in a few days when I go to the range - will report back.

And I shot mostly double guns which you know kick more than the autos. I SAY BULL!! You had that pad away from your shoulder with the Carlsons pad to make it look like it wasn't jarring your shoulder. And you had it tight against you shoulder to make it look like it was jarring you shoulder more. You're so full of it dude.!
