It comes down to alot of things. Number 1 being is everybody is different. Everybody has different hand sizes. Everybody has different preferences. Some people like the longer slides just for that little extra bit of sight radius. I mean I could go on & on with why people love bigger or smaller handguns. Personally I like the sub compacts & no bigger then the compacts. Now if I had huge hands then yea I probably would love full sizes more. But for what I need my handgun for I dont need a full size. Your point is well thought out and valid. But the 19 preceded the newer choices. There are more accessories available . And the comparison harkens back to the revolver era. A common .38 Special being used in wheelguns as small as a S&W 37or Colt Agent and as large as a Colt Python or S&W Model 28 Highway Patrolman.
Understandable. I got big hands so i gotta have enough to grip. Hand cramped up after shooting my friends Hellcat Pro. But my 19x i can shoot all day and still feel no pain in my hands
Everyone has to go with what works for them. I started with a G19, went through many of these newer thinner guns, and I’m back to my 19. I hit really well with it and for me that’s the most important part.
I tried carrying my g34 gen 3 appendix style iwb and it was a pain, my glock 45 and glock 19 were easier. Ultimately i ended up using my g26 gen 4 with xgrips as my conceal carry.

Here’s the thing…. I see it both ways. Most of the time you are just carrying the gun. Comfort is King from that perspective. But when you have to shuck it ergos are King. My buddy who owns a gun shop tried to sell me on the P365 Spectre. It is cool looking but it was too slim for my hand even though it has crazy firepower for it’s size. Slim guns can move in my hands a bit much. So it depends on your mitts and build. The more I’ve carried the bigger my carry guns are. When discretion is a must I have a few smaller go to’s like my LC9s or my SA 911. But I feel like my P30sk has become one of my favorites when I can go bigger. Fits the hand perfectly. Super accurate for a small gun. DA/SA is the safe way to go now that I’ve warmed up to it. Shoots nearly as well as my VP9.
I use to agree with you untill I found the perfect holster. I carried a 365 appendix with no light or optic. Now I carry a g19 with optic and light plus extra mag more comfortably then the 365
A lot of sub compacts don’t offer rails and I see that being a deal breaker itself for a lot of people. For me it’s all about the weather and how I dress accordingly.
I have really big hands too. But, I own a Ruger LC9 2 .380 that I can shoot very well. My Edc is a Ruger 95, but the LVL 2 is always my backup. Personally, I prefer a bazooka! But I have a difficult time with printing when I carry it concealed! 🤣😂😋
Capacity really isn’t a factor with these double stack micros, but to me, the compacts shoot better. I have one of each. If I can conceal the compact, I’d rather carry that. But more often than not I carry the micro. It’s just so concealable.
I have the sig p365X and it’s very easy to carry and comfortable but every time I would shoot it, my fat hands would hit the mag release button. I know it’s not the guns fault but under stress I cannot be worrying about not hitting the mag release. So I carry a P320 RXP Xcompact

You should just sell those and get a Wilson combat. Might have to put in about 1200 -1500 dollars after selling those guns, but you can hand it down to your kids if you have any. I wouldn’t own 4 Honda accords when I can have 1 Porsche
Like others have said I can shoot a g19 way more accurately than a g43x the g19 just fits my hands better and I'm a big guy so it's not hard to conceal and more ammo is a plus
If they fit you then use them. I've got larger hands and am an decent thick person so the full size grip is far better for me. I have an Shield 40 single stack and Beretta 21 22lr but those are tiny and just not easy to use so full double stack it is.

First of all it's okay if you print my firearm is always printing and that's okay it doesn't take away from ITS tactical ability or mine the reason I carry a glock 17 even though it doesn't conceal easily I would rather have a full size pistol in a gunfight that I know I can effectively take a Target at 25 yards versus my 43 that I can effectively hit a Target at 10 because getting shot and hitting your target is not the only thing you have to worry about you have to worry about where you're missed shots are going anyways brother love what you're doing stay strapped stay dangerous and above all stay free the gay TF is after the firearm community again
I get WHAT you're saying BUT I carry a Glock 19 because I KNOW it's reliable. I KNOW THAT if I have to draw THAT weapon and use it it's GOING to work EVERY time. I can't say THAT ABOUT SOME of the other pistols I own. I'm a Sig fan TOO. BUT my EDC is my Glock. I also own a Springfield. BUT I TRUST this Glock MORE.
I carry the g19 cause I kinda have to. You don’t have the best options in California. I would have went with the 43x or sig 365 compact. The g19 is so big I carry it mostly in a Fanny pack.
You do realize the G26 is just as thick as the G19 with LESS capacity lol sure you can add capacity but as you mentioned you still are thicker than Hellcat, P365 and Shield +
I get it. Valid points. But I'm the opposite. I went from carrying a Shield, a Glock 26, a 43x, to a Glock 19, now my edc is a 19x. 🤷♂️The game is weird brother.
Maybe, just maybe… those skinny guns don’t fit everyone’s hand well. Maybe it’s more important to get a gun that fits you well, so you’re confident shooting it 🤷♂️

Dang, not often I hear anyone mention the SigP239. I have one in 9mm. Shoots great and used to be my EDC but sits in the safe now, darn thing is heavy as a brick.
If you can shoot the new skinny double stacks as well as the traditional double stacks then all power to you! I am not one of those people

Usually don’t have an issue concealing the width. More of the length. Smaller isn’t always better if one doesn’t really learn their weapon

That's why I carry a Glock 43X with Shield Arms magazines. Small, light, accurate and 15+1 capacity.
I did the same thing, shield nailed those 15round mags
The shield mags are about 40$ each the g43x is around 500$ depending on the shop you get it from

I carry a g19 and a sig 365xl, as long as you have a good edc belt and the right holster they both conceal easily for me
I get that but I always say if you can conceal a gun with a full size grip do it. Its all about the controllability

The 19 is like a 40 year old design now…. Obviously Times have caught up and there are better options, all thanks to Glock though… it’s still a gem.

I carry a Glock 26 Gen 5. I don’t have any problem concealing it, at all, even with the +2 OEM mags I use. I’ve shot the others. I prefer the G26.

But also it could be that you have an older model of a compact gun, like the Glock 19.

Glock 19 is plenty easy to conceal. Skinny, fat, chubby, stalky I don't think it matters depending on your methods.
Doesn't mean I wouldn't prefer to carry a glock 43x with a shield arms 15 rnd mag instead though.
