    A visual symphony! You play that rotator like a violin. Wondrous teamwork & coordination. Thank you for showing the whole operation. Your videos are like mini-movies to me--when you post one, I look forward to settling down with a cup of hot chocolate, turning my heating blanket up, and ending my day snuggling in watching your video. You make a part of my day wonderful.

    As a young man I sat at the controls of an old crane with mechanical winches for everything and no hydraulics. We never could have done that job. I also sat on top of a two story brick wall while my brother ran the crane to place a stairway inside the building and having the boom bounce into the wall. This was an amazing job by two very good operators. I'm trying to decide which I'm more impressed with, the rotator truck or the operator. That truck makes some pretty amazing things possible but the operator understanding how to use it is the key so I think I'm a bit more impressed with a really good operator. Thank you for sharing your solutions to some really challenging situations. Keep up the good work.

    Must say as many times before my hat is off to Ron!, Not only his skills but compassion for others is like no others seem to have. a awesome rig is nothing without someone that knows how to truly use it and what I have seen some local hear does not but Ron does. Still to this day wonder why power lines have something against him as many videos tell. Safety is #1 for him and will find a way. God is with him and I prey will always be. I do hope all will spread his word of slow down and move over!, wish he would make some shirts as I would have one. I knew one the used to and wished I could have one made to send Ron to show all. All would want and Ron will truly know how much he has done for so many.

    Hi Ron, I have watched most of your videos in the last week, great job that you do, just watched you move the crushed cars that had moved on the trailer, two things in the comments, drove long distance here in Australia for over 40 years, a lot on heave haulage, the guy had chains with the binders on the low side, right side, better to have them on the high side, your left side, the binders are then pulling the load to the high side, your left. there was also a comment about the old binders trying to get them tight, on one link to tight the next link is to loose, if you turn the chain around one turn, 180 degrees you will only go half a link and you can get you chain tight. Great to watch you work. happy new year.

    First, love your videos Ron ... with all that's going on with "The Rona", I've been binge watching them non-stop so thanks for the reprieve from dull days !!! Just a short note of suggestion from someone that used to do this for the Railroad ("Derailments" are a mess and many times not accessible by "Truck"). As an aid to help off kilter loads, we oft used to "Auger In" (we had one on the back end of our Trucks for setting "Telegram Poles" (yes, we still have "Telegram Lines" ;) ) and sometimes would just dig in to give us an anchor when we didn't have a tree or other to latch on to. "Bobcat" has many sizes and once sunk in, it make for a handy anchor point just chained around the coupling shaft ... they even offer a "Rock Bit" tip in geological strata where needed. Just a thought. Keep those great videos coming !!!

    Reminds me of a job I worked on twenty years ago. Was working on a pipe crew and we tore out a bridge and put in twin 21' arch pipe. Pipe came in three sections and the middle was one heck of a lift. Excavator was right on the edge even with myself and another couple laborer's on the back of it for a little extra counter balance. We made out own cable sling for the lift as well. Grandfather was the foreman/operator and ordered up a 3/4 or 1 inch cable. We split the ends for about four feet and then crossed and rewove to make a loop to move them around.
    Craziest part of the whole job was a fiber optic line on the plans showed it coming up to the bridge, going out about 50 feet from the bridge then coming back in with 90 degree turns. We called bull on it and had the company send someone out. Cable ran right through the site straight down the edge of the road, LOL. He contracted a little puddle jumper to come out and move the cable. It got stuck in the creek. Finally my grandfather said, "Hey the excavator and me bill out at 150 an hour and I will throw the crew in for free." The guy said deal without blinking an eye. Got the puddle jumper pushed out of the way and dug down to get the fiber loose so enough slack was available to get it under the flow line of the pipe.
    Local telco came out at one point to deal with their line as well. Guy stuck his meter down and said at one point, "Three feet, take another swipe." At which point the cable was actually only about 6 inches down. Took another run through and cable was busted. Seems his meter needed a little better calibration.
    Grandfather also had an issue with ol sparky. Was doing something and clipped the power line. Set of great big medium distance transmission lines. Eventually a guy showed up and asked if he hit it. Wasn't within earshot at the time but pretty sure he said no, just got back from lunch a few minutes ago and been gone over an hour.

    • @wiedehopf9068
      @wiedehopf9068 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      My guess is Ron would have declined a lift if the load would be higher than a couple of inches. That outrigger is sketchy but even if it slips the load only moves down a couple of inches so the trucks won't tip over.

    • @technicalprecision8651
      @technicalprecision8651 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@wiedehopf9068 It doesn't matter if it was a couple of inches or 10 feet if that crane slipped and dropped its share of the load the Tator's boom most likely would receive severe damage if the box culvert was over the Tator's capacity at that boom angle. Tandem picks can be extremely dangerous especially if the rigging isn't set to share the load correctly, or if 1 or both operators are inexperienced or uneducated on tandem picks.

    When working with a hanging load, or any load for that matter, you always want it as close to the ground as possible, not only in case your machine goes over, but other things can go wrong as well, such as a breakage in your lifting gear/equipment or the anchor points on the thing you are trying to lift. Basically it will minimize the risk of damage. This is the same no matter what type of lifting equipment you are working with or whatever type of lift you are doing, it will also give it more stability when moving due to a lower center of mass. It doesn't matter if it's a forklift, crane, wheel loader, excavator, tractor +++ Oh, this isn't meant for Ron Pratt, he knows his shit. just a general fyi as I see people fail and cause terrible damage/expenses because they don't do this. You get no warning, it just goes over.

      Esp on a multi Cable Lift if your high in the air and say rigging snaps, Thats going to shift all weight onto your other line instantly, Boomshock the shit out of the truck and more than likely flop ya right onto your side. Low slow and steady.

      @@ReflexXTows yup.. what so many people realise is that when lifts go bad you are LUCKY if you even get a hint such as a floating outrigger that it's about to go wrong... You are more likely to hear a bang then it's up to luck or your diety of choice if you and your colleagues will be going home...
      Failed lifts go wrong faster than you can react usually which a lot of people are kinda unaware of unless you have worked around this stuff

    Gee golly gosh, this is a heavy weight ballet performed in tiny steps in slow motion. Such a delicate operation for such massive components; seriously impressive.
    At 54:50 there begins an excellent example of "Head On A Swivel" (grinning) Yes, you have to keep your eye on EVERYTHING at a time like this.
