I love how the robot from Returns makes an appearance in this level. This, and the entirety of the final world just shows that you CAN feel nostalgic about a game that came out 3 years ago!
I never made it that far in Returns- I wasn't as good a gamer back then- I should really go back and finish it. I still got chills (ha, ha) hearing this song due to my memories of playing DKC1 on GBA 6 years ago, so that's always nice. This stage was every bit as nerve wracking. I'm at the final boss now- just waiting for a chance to play the game again and I'm set.
@@sprucebadger8229 Ahh returns. After five years, I've only eight level left without a shiny gold. My goal is to finish before Christmas. I was 11 when I got it. I am now 16.
The reason they waited until the very last world (+1 level in the Juicy Jungle) to bring out the ice-themed levels was to blow you away with how amazingly different they and their music are.

Krook's March, Mining Melancholy and Fear Factory combined. David Wise really did a nice job on this OST. Ever since this game came out, I'm listening to the soundtrack for days.
Where on Earth are you making these connections? All I hear is Fear Factory. Well, I CAN see the connection somewhat with Krook's March, but it's really vague and could likely just be a coincidence.
I can picture the game developers' excitement for designing and developing the snowmad's island portion of DKC Tropical Freeze. What fun it must have been creating a frozen jungle world.
ninjagod1556 Further more, DK had a good reason. I think we should blame the moles who should've focused more on making walkways and less minecarts and rocket barrels (I personally have no problems with those levels). That way DK wouldn't have woken the bats.
This song especially shows the joint effort between Wise and Yamamoto, I do believe they probably worked with each other at length and played to each other's strengths and weaknesses. I hear both Metroid Prime and DKC in this and it's perfect because I loved both soundtracks immensely
2:18 I love how warm the guitar notes sound in this bit. They definitely calm you down while playing and they remind you of even harder time in the original dk country. While trying to figure out who froze everyone, you encounter many enemies from the previous game, frozen And it not only makes you sad, but nostalgic. Thats the beauty of the game
@Summimations I played through Tropical Freeze after beating the first Dkc and it was soooo much easier. It was still challenging, but not as challenging as the older games imo.

This is easily my favorite level in the whole game. That fear factory remix plus everything that made the factory (my favorite returns world) so awesome is here.
Just in case you need another reason to believe that the the snowmads are terrible, all the original inhabitants of DK island were most likely killed off by the cold. Remember, most of the organisms on the island couldn't survive such a cold snap.. except for maybe a few trees in the forest. But the jungle (frogs birds, trees, carnivorous plants), beach (crabs trees sharks), ruins (the bird things and trees), cliffs (cacti), would probably go extinct...
I've played both DKCR and DKCTF as a child. That level combines the ambience of DKCTF with all that iced stuff with the DK Island as it was in the previous game and I love it. That was my favorite world in Returns and now it's my favorite level in Tropical Freeze I swear I could cry everytime I hear that song, definitly one of the best songs I've ever heard in any video game
The song starts to get REALLY good once the actual Fear Factory melody sets in around 2:00! I verily enjoyed all the music in the 6th world, it made me feel so sorry for what happened to the DK-island I once traveled through in returns. This song, the moody atmosphere in the level, the frozen robot from returns and all that ice really made me feel vengeful! great stuff

(Of course, this is an official Nintendo-made remix, so I shouldn't really call it a remix since it's in an actual game.) I got goosebumps when I recognized the Fear Factory tune (that starts at 0:48)!
The premise of the game is that penguin vikings have taken over and frozen all of DK Island. The ice theme is thick, but this is very much a factory level!!
I also noticed that they paid homage to the clanking sounds in Kannon's Klaim toward the beginning of the track. I think the sounds are meant to sound like the clanking of pickaxes and other mining equipment. Makes sense if the cave is used as a factory!
@@mr.monkey354 the percussion is definitely mining melancholy's percussion at a slower tempo. FUN FACT i discovered about this recently! upon using this and the original Fear Factory song from dkc1 in project files (i remix music and sample a lot and etc) their tempos and keys are different but yet identical(?). dkc1's arrangement is a bit over 130 beats per minute and is played in f minor and the one from tropical freeze is 120 bpm played in d minor. thing is though if you lower the snes's version to 120 bpm and enable pitch preservation (setting that pitches according to speed without distortion) it plays the song in d minor. they of course both have different structures and verses but i have no idea if David Wise intentionally toyed around with that idea when rearranging in here or if its just pure coincidence. either way its one of my favorite songs from my favorite game of all time but yeah dumb audio trivia over :P.
I have a funny curiosity about this world's songs but mainly with this one: I read the second book of The Hunger Games (Catching Fire) entirely while listening all these ice songs. When I come back here I instantly associate to the Katniss series.
A really good rendition of Fear Factory. I like it about as much as the remake of it in DKCR.
