4r100 loves chewing up the direct drum , mine sheered off all the teeth . They cant handle the added power. Time to rebuild with heavy clutch pack and upgraded valve body
I have a 2003, one of the last 7.3L to roll off the line, its a 2wd long bed extended cab lariat with grey leather. Mine is a Texas truck with 125k original miles and has never been wrecked. Its bone stock except for a 6 position chip, air bags on the rear and new stiffer front springs. I use it to pull a 36ft 5th wheel so the long bed is the way to go and I actually prefer a long bed. Its such a sweet truck that has never let me down. I bought it about 7 years ago with 84k miles from the original owner. I paid $13.5k for it at the time. I also put newer head and tail lights all new blacked out badges and upgraded the wheels and tires to 18 inch Mayham wheels. I put spin on trans and fuel filters, did the hutch and harpoon hack on the fuel tank. Also put newer larger mirrors on it with an alarm and touch screen stereo. Also had all the steering links replaced and put better shocks on it. The truck is super sweet. A know most youngsters want a 4x4 lifted version but that would be silly for towing an RV so mine is the way to go for that purpose which is what I bought it for.
Somehow my stock 4r100 lasted about 6 months of spirited driving with 205/30 injectors and a 63/73 kc300x. Rebuilt it and she's pulled harder than ever love these trucks
My 02’ F350 7.3 is called Fat Boy, It’s a Lariat LB, CC, DRW 4x4 and I’m having the same KC300X stage 2 turbo installed along with Holder 180cc 80% injectors and the PHP Hydra tuner by jelibuilt at Southern Diesel Service & Performance in Columbus, GA. Also an ATS 5 star torque converter and John Woods Valve Body, Stainless Steel 304 grade exhaust headers, 5” exhaust, and a bunch of other upgrades too. I’m working in Florida and don’t have the time or place to get things done so I look forward to driving my truck again soon. Cost a lil over $22k for all parts and install. Put a whoopin on my wallet, lol

It’s not Smokey because the tuning, also, check out John Woods transmission, he’s spendy BUT, snag a towmaster H/D and you’ll never break it. Also make sure your gearing in the differential is right for your tire size. If you ever have any questions, I’d love to answer them and help out!
if you have issues getting in and out of gear (usually only neutral or park) the column shifter, there is a plate with 2 bolts on those fords underneath the dash that get lose over time as well. could be causing your tranny to not fully engage. located right above the steering shaft.
I'll add since I did this recently...If they're tight and it's still floppy it's the shifter tube bushings. When I did mine I found the OEM zinc/pot metal U-clamp on the lower end of the tube was broken into 4 pieces as well as the plastic bushings completely shredded. The little plastic bracket that holds the tensioner for the gear indicator cable also breaks, so if the shifter is tight but the pointer is misaligned, check that.
Hey Ryan just a tip. If you have to take the passenger side valve cover off again the oil fill unscrews! Gives you a little extra room to get it out and putting it back in 👍🏽
I think for the Mishimoto it’s a 37 row cuz that’s the very first upgrade I installed back in 2019 in my 7.3 endeavors, and that Lifetime Warranty is an Awesome thing to have! Boy have I spent some money on my truck since then
Glad to see you repping the 'Boro here in TN. The dudes at Full Force know there stuff when it comes to Powerstrokes. Even took on the challenge of my gear swap in my '17 Ram. Awesome dudes!
If you truck takes long to crank until the oil builds pressure it’s the low pressure oil pump on the front of the crank/engine plate and when installing the balancer put rtv on the balancer where it’s flat, and go for a high volume after millings. Love your vids
Typically means an oil sealing leak. If you just replaced injectors you will have a long crank time until it purges air. If once purged it still has extended crank times I would point to improper injector seating which gouged 1 or more o rings on the injectors. The pumps don't fail as often as seals even when driving them hard.
mine is a 99.5 my dad bought off the lot in 2000. been building it since i bought it off him at 15, grenaded my 4r100 when i was 16, stage 3 ats does great for me put 100k hard miles on it so far

What happens is they’ll swell up and get stuck.” This is the most automotive erotica shit I’ve ever heard... lmaooo
I had a similar issue and in just 5 launches smoked my tranny. I found the weak link to be the valve body and for just under $300 had it upgraded which now can handle the extra power. No real need to drop 5k on a beefier tranny. Just need to replace it prior to bumping the power too much.
The easiest way to remove oil from the cylinders is to put your new injectors in, remove your glowplugs then lay a towel over your open valve covers and crank away.
I think it need a hpop it should have a little more power still and it should be getting more fuel on the hot tune especially with number 2 sticks it should smoke more than it does too
long ass video...this is what I love from ryan. I own an 03 7.3L and im looking to be doing a cab off rebuild. thankfully i have a lot of the supporting mods already done(minus the powdered rods).
There is literally fuel drains on the back of the heads and little screws under the valve cover to drain the oil so you don’t fill the cylinders pulling the injectors

Put a boost fooler on the truck Ryan. That should be one of the reasons that it’s not smoking like crazy. Also when you get an ovwr boost code the truck is defueling which is robbing you of power

Oil deflectors never break. Unless you don't remove them first. You need to remove the oil deflector first before removing the injector.
As far as the 7.3l idle i added a riffraff diesel, high pressure oil cross over line (HPX) and it smoothed it out alot.
This is exactly what I needed for my Sunday night. Pumped.

Hard to believe more power blew a 274k mile trans😬 Make sure you put a 6.0 trans cooler in it when you get the trans rebuilt
Weak points are the torque converter, tiny transmission cooler, and upgrade shift gears
You now have an extra forward gear
I think the 6.0 trans coolers are bigger and more efficient and it’s a easy swap
Put a Sam Wyse trans in it
That truck came out so clean I look back at the old video and I can’t believe it

Should put a bed cover with a ffs stack ring to run the stack and bed cover at the same time
But then you can’t see the blue Bedliner
On pass side you can unhook what looks like a fuse link and jump to battery to turn engine over without starting
