Top 7 Things to Do in Almaty, Kazakhstan (Hidden Gems)

So today I wanted to share with you the top 7 things to do in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
Here is the entire list:
1. Checkout the view from Almaty Hotel, which is a historical and architectural monument. It was built in 1962, and completed in 1967. All famous celebrities, opera singers of the USSR used to stay there when coming to Soviet Kazakhstan.
2. Checkout the view from Esentai Towers (Ritz Carlton Hotel). There is a SKY LOUNGE AND BAR on the 30th floor. The first fourteen floors of the tower are occupied by offices, the Ritz-Carlton hotel is located above the offices, in the last eight floors of the building are serviced apartments.
3. Pick up fruits at a local grocery shop. A lot of fruits are in season in the summer and are relatively cheap.
4. Take a cable car to Kok-tobe (Blue Hill) - mountain, main landmark in Almaty, a popular recreational area which has an amusement park. There is also Almaty TV tower, Beatles monument, Fast Coaster (a roller coaster located on the hillside), ferris wheel, zoo, fountains, cafes and restaurants.
5. Go skating at Medeo - an outdoor speed skating and bandy rink. It is considered to be the world's largest high-mountain skating rink. It hosted the 2011 Asian Games. There are several hiking trails that originate from the Medeo.
6. Go skiing or snowboarding at Shymbulak, which is a ski resort near Almaty. It is the largest ski resort in Central Asia. You can take a picture with an eagle there. It is popular for its mild climate, large quantity of sunny days and great amount of snow through the winter (from November till May). In 1983 it became the Olympic ski training center for the USSR.
7. Have some shashlyk (kebab). I would particularly recommend having a lamb kebab, Tashkent tea (mix of black and green tea with honey) and some lepeshka, which kind of like naan or pita.

Great insights of Almaty, i even learn how to pronounce it in English :) food is incredible and delicious. I wonder why Almaty lost its place as a Capital of KAZ? Salta your videos are so informative and you do a great job. i showed one of your videos to a friend of mine and 10 sec after start watching it, she said "i already like her" :) she now wants to go visit KAZ, its on her wishing list!

Because of the Russia and our dictator nursultan, capital is changed to Astana, in the north most of the people is Russian,German and Ukrainian Slavic people and European, even of that, to populate in the north the Kazakhs, its changed

@@Dauletsrubik isn't it for security reasons? As far as I know, Almaty is a city close to the border and countries always choose a city which is away from the border for capital.

@@user-pw6xd8vm4h yeap, it’s maybe the reason too, but in the north Kazakhstan lives only European people not Kazakh, and now we have a programms to move from south kz to north for Kazakhs.
