I want to thank everyone for taking time to watch my video! Fishing is a lifestyle. I would love for you to subscribe to my channel and ride along with me through all my adventures! #BarFlyFishingTexas
This is perfect! The first time I googled "kayak trailer" I bout fell out of my chair at the sticker shock. Then I found the HF trailers and knew I'd be making my own kayak trailer using their base.
Still have the trailer? Wanted to see if you could give an update on it. Still like it? Holding up? Have any parts failed. I am looking to build something like this and wanted to know how it held up at highway speeds. I would be traveling 50+ miles one way to get down to galveston.
Gained a sub from me! Quick question, without the tongue extender did you ever clip the yaks when turning?? I'm up in Anna north of McKinney and have been smashing BODARK with my 10 year old boy and we're looking for an easier transport method. Thanks!!
Sorry this video started out as something completely different and ended up something else. It wasn’t going to be a kayak trailer video. Just ended up one
NICE SET UP , JUST CURIOUS HAVE you given any thought to the old town auto pilot seems like nice yak to own.for the record I don`t own a Hobie or Auto pitot .just curious on your thoughts
SlikRik I’ve had some experience with trolling motors on kayaks, I don’t want anything that can go dead while I’m out on the water. With the petals I can get there and get home unless I’m hurt I’m fine. With a dead battery you’re screwed and your paddling all the time
I just won an autopilot 136, so here figuring out a trailer option. I'm coming from a customized canoe that I use a trolling motor as my primary power. Only once did I mess up and had to single paddle the beast back. It's all about the deep cycle battery(s) you use. I've gone 8 hours and a dozen miles, and towed other kayaks needing a lift, no problem. The Autopilot has a 5lb higher thrust motor than my current Minn Kota so as long as you do your deep cycle battery research and know what that battery/motor combo can do, you'll rarely have issues.
Wow bro, you work cleaner than some guys I’ve worked with and Ive worked all branches of electrical! Lol, Was looking forward to another video, with all this panic going down! Stay Safe!
Awesome Trailer. I am in the Arlington/Mansfield area and I'm looking at buying my first fishing Kayak. I have a ton of questions. Do you know of any kayak clubs in my area that I could visit to get some tips ?
Great setup! I’m about to purchase the same trailer and modify it for my 12’ Diablo Amigo, which I also modified by adding a trolling motor on the back. I do have a question. Since you use 13 footers a lot, do you run into any issues with the length of the kayaks vs the length of the trailer? Are you able to position them so that they don’t hit your truck or hang too far off the back of the trailer?
Well, with Bering buddy’s, and 12” tires, I have friends that have traveled at highway speeds for years on these trailers. I, myself, took this trailer on a 14 hr round trip @ 75+ mph, no issues. Stopped and checked the hubs for heat periodically, no issues. 🤷🏻♂️ all the high dollar kayak trailer have small wheels like these as well, no issues with those either. But you are more than welcome to overpay for a trailer to get a company issued highway speed that suites your needs. My dad was worried about it too so he went with a full size 16’ utility trailer for his and my moms Jackson BigRigs.
Just make sure to grease em before every trip longer than a few miles. Small grease guns are super cheap. And try not to back the wheels into the water. Prolongs the life.
I finished mine yesterday. Today I tried to register it. OMG, this may be imposible. These trailers are not sold in Louisiana, but theoretically can be bought in Texas and registered in Louisiana. I went to my favorite DMV office in Vivian, La. where after waiting 20 minutes outside, because of the Chyna virus they only allowed 4 nonemployees in the building at a time. After being allowed in the building, I waited another 20 minutes to be told that they would not recognize the receipt as a "Bill of Sale", despite it having the price paid and the VIN number (in addition I have the actual title in hand). They gave me a form that would require me to take a Longview, Tx. HF cashier to a notary, or vise-versa. Also, they were behind a plexiglass shield and wearing a mask. It was like talking to Kenny on Southpark. Thinking they were wrong, I then drove to a title company that does registrations in Bossier City, La.. Another 20 minute wait outside. They basically told me the same thing. After half a tank of gas and standing around waiting outside, I was a little frustrated. I called the Longview HF where I purchased the trailer. The young lady told me that since the trailer is a kit and did not come assembled, it does not require the paperwork they are asking for. She told me that this problem is nothing new and that there is a form that explains that the paperwork is not required and should be avalible at any HF (even in La.)or the staff should be able to get me a copy of it to take with me to the DMV. I drove from the title company to the nearest HF (just a couple of miles). Told the lady at the cashier counter what I needed. She had not idea what I was talking about. She called someone over who she believed would know about what I was requesting. He had no idea what I was talking about. He did try to help though. After going to his office he searched on his computer for this mystical form, and could not find it. His best advice was to keep going to the DMV until I was assigned someone who wouldthat would register it. I assume that I will have to get the HF explanation mailed to me, or have to drive back to Longview and pickup a copy. This is still no guarantee that I will be able to get it registered in Louisiana. For this reason I cannot recommentd a HF trailer, but it has nothing to do with the trailer itself, which seems like a nice trailer.
Just a bit of advice: get right to the trailer build. The history of your kayaks is almost three minutes long and it's not relevant to the video topic.

I guess it's quite off topic but does anyone know of a good place to watch new series online?
yea, I have been watching on flixportal for since april myself =)
That trailer is very nice! Im going to try and build one. Thanks for the video!

Try up here in Canada. Things cost more than the high-end kayaks!
exactly why I'm watching this video... lol
Digging the rod locker idea.
Thanks for sharing. I now have enough project $😂
Wish we had a build tutorial of that trailer !
I especially like the rod locker and adjustable Uni struts
Super nice setup!!!
Thanks for the video!
Great idea using the electrical conduit! And that deck over is legit.
This trailer worked really good, and cost half of the nearest priced kayak trailer you can buy already made
Very creative. Well done, sir.

Man that's awesome. I have the exact trailer and all of the wiring just crumbled after 1 year. I have to rewire the whole thing lol.
Would like to see how the kayak system is attached and how easy it is to remove !
Love my harbor freight trailer too. Great video.
That’s a nice build on that trailer! Great video
Great video, neighbor! We do Denton Creek all the time!
Are the stock trailer lights water safe. Can you back it down the ramp into the water with no electrical issues?
Yes
I got the pa 14 360 the day it came out. It’s grear
thanks for sharing that helps fix some problems before they start this spring
Hated to see that thing go after putting it together but just didn’t use it as much as I thought

great video...I just bought a PA 12 and this trailer is perfect for pulling my boat and my wife's on trips. #DFWKF
Does the trailer still fold up with the plywood on top? I would assume no?
No
i love this trailer
Do you water drop that? How’s it work for you with the locker? What did you use to seal it
No, I get close and slide the yaks in
How fast are you going on the highway with the trailer loaded up?
Normal highway speeds.
OMGOSH! I love your trailer! Thank you for making this video. 👍😎🎣🐟💦
Fast forward to 6:24 to actually see the trailer.
Sorry this video started out as something completely different and ended up something else. It wasn’t going to be a kayak trailer video. Just ended up one
How do u launch your kayak now on concrete boat ramps?
Do these trailers come with an MSO?
It comes with a serial plate and a title
Diff cool thanks for sharing!
Thanks. Got the trailer and the small kayak sold, just trying to sell the big one then I can start looking at the new one I want.
Does Harbor Freight still sell these? I've been searching their site but the ones they have seem to be a lot bigger.
4x8
@@BarFlyFishingTexas ya I think they are 499 now

did you buy the Hobie yet?
Need longer tung extension or in turning your going to hit kayak
Nope, took this all over the place backed it in all kinds of places. No issues
Those kayaks are nice
Thanks man, one of the best kayaks ever made!
Wow bro, you work cleaner than some guys I’ve worked with and Ive worked all branches of electrical! Lol, Was looking forward to another video, with all this panic going down! Stay Safe!
Went out and limited on Sand Bass today! I’ll be putting that video out in a little bit
The gray PVC conduit is sunlight resistant. Plumbing pipe is not.
Is this the heavy duty or super duty trailer from Harbor Frieght?
How wide are your Kayaks? I am planning on doing a similar build for two canoes and they are 36" wide
How did you bend those washers?
Thank you for the great video! What about the 10 foot yak, is it up for sale yet and if so how much are you looking to sell it for?
Sold it today, 13’ still for sale.
Hi how are how much u want for u kayak???
Awesome Trailer. I am in the Arlington/Mansfield area and I'm looking at buying my first fishing Kayak. I have a ton of questions. Do you know of any kayak clubs in my area that I could visit to get some tips ?
DFW Kayak on Facebook
This is soo sick
It looks healthy to me.
How do you keep squirrels from eating your boats?

No issue at all. 8’ plus the tongue is plenty… They barely hang off the back.
Did you buy a 360? Btw this is one of the best trailers I've seen on TH-cam, good job!
No, bought the Old Town Autopilot 120
@@BarFlyFishingTexas nice! That's a good one too
Is the 13 for sale
It is. Having the drive upgraded by Native as we speak. 1650 as is 1850 if I send off the drive.
Do you launch your kayaks like a boat? How well has that trailer held up
well, my old beater truck died on me. I'll need to move my kayaks with my SRX so it's time for a trailer. This looks like the way.
HeIIo Iike 21Bro 🍻🍻🍾🙏
Not sure what this means 🤣🤣
Dont care about the kayak you want or have - just talk about the trailer build.
I wanted to go this route until I found out it is recommended you DO NOT drive faster than 55 mph.

How did you secure the sides to the trailer or floor?
