  • This food tour in Phnom Penh was the BEST way to get an introduction to Khmer food. We tried some amazing noodles, curry, fish paste, ribs, and heaps more.

      At least cambodia is very welcoming unlike their neighbors thailand who always hate on cambodian which doesn't make sense because they're basically almost the same. 😅😅 I ❤️ 🇰🇭

    Wow She could consume Prahok ( salt fish chess) in Khmer soup and Amok ( carried fish) , so amazing

      I knoww right!?!?! I was so surprised when she said she liked it, because most westerners tend to not like the smell or the flavour. I think it’s because it’s a different type of phrahok, the original which is basically just fresh fermented fish is nothing like what she had😂. I love both ofc but i do like the fresh fish that was made by my grandma, so it gives me a sense of home.

      Well made prahok are not stinky like the cheaper kind. Well cooked Khmer food will not have the awful raw prahok smell but rather an umami goodness smell.

    The lemon/salt/pepper is soooo good because the pepper is grown in Kampot. Store bought pepper has nothing on the fruity fresh Kampot pepper :)

    Yeah prohok (fermented fish paste) sounds and smells horrible on its own, but I’ve heard when it’s used in an ingredient, it elevates the dish to another level. I couldn’t get pass the smell and the idea of eating fermented fish but would definitely try the dip you guys had.

    Thai cuisine has big influences on Cambodia food. Many dishes I can see similarities here.

    • @Hi-Five-Ghost
      @Hi-Five-Ghost ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Wrong, Cambodia is older it ruled over the lands of Vietnam/ Thai/ Laos/ Myanmar and influenced all of them.

    • @iROChakri
      @iROChakri ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Hi-Five-Ghost Wrong. Cambodia is as big as Cambodia is today. Try not to claim other people claim. Otherwise, the same logic can be said that Vietnam/Thailand/Myarnamma used tonrule over Southeast Asia 🤷‍♂️

    • @Hi-Five-Ghost
      @Hi-Five-Ghost ปีที่แล้ว

      @@iROChakri Thailand LITERALLY COPIED Cambodia’s Sanskrit Alphabet, why not copy straight from India? Cambodia made their own version using Indian Sanskrit. Why couldn’t Thailand do the same?
      Why copy Cambodias version? That tells us Thailand couldn’t read India version, so they used Cambodias who used to rule over their lands.
      Then in an attempt to be “Original” they made a fake copy of Cambodias Sanskrit
      Your logic falls on its azz, if Thailand isn’t a copy, they shouldn’t use Cambodias Alphabet…
      How about read a history book
