Been doing borientation for 5 weeks now and finally have worked my way up to inverted. Can't fly it inverted yet, just holding it there but watching your almost daily videos inspire me to keep cranking!
Don't let up, that's how progress is done. It's like climbing a montain, at first when you look at it you think you don't have no chance, but chip at it long enough and you'll get to where you want. Same here, the struggle is real 😅
Just keep practicing and you will get there in no time. Helicopters are extremely difficult and challenging to learn but once you do it, you will progress so much better and faster practicing the basics and really honing in on those will make you a better pilot in the end. Thank you! I’m glad these videos are helping you!
Thank you very much I greatly appreciate it, I will get a Camera rigged up to my radio, so future videos will have stick input for the learning videos.
Thank you for watching the videos! I greatly appreciate it, I will get a camera rigged up to my radio for future video so you guys can see stick inputs.
Recently I on the sim i have been practing half flips with a half piro, ive always loved your channel and your instructional videos, you just make it sound easier to fly and easier to learn
I just got all my Stuff for my first Raw 420. I got into this stuff because of your videos. thanks for all the videos. i really appreciate all the beginner stuff! great job man will support you along the way! greetings from switzerland
Thank you very much! I greatly appreciate the support. I’m glad the videos are helpful and you are building a RAW 420! Such a fantastic heli! I still fly the crap out of mine lol I will continue more beginner videos!
I just ordered a raw 420 kit, the rest will come eventually. It will be a bit yet before it flies, but I'm excited and scared at the same time lol. First helicopter above the 200 class. I've been in and out of the hobby for the last 17 years and I'm finally in a place in life where I can put more time into helis and actually start to really learn and fly. Also picked up a goosky s1 in the same order lol
Great video Jeff and all of us would love and definitely appreciate a video with the stick movements!! Also more training videos would be greatly appreciated!! Finally I have to say that all these years searching for info through all the available videos, yours are simply excellent as you explain it in a very simple and comprehensive way not assuming that we all know already every bit of information. And thank you for that as you make me (and sure many of us) stick to this hobby and improve overtime. This is such a challenging hobby, but so rewarding as you progress I feel
Thank you for watching the videos! Glad the videos are helpful and you can learn from them. I will definitely include stick inputs in future learning videos. I remember back when I started flying helicopters there was no information or videos really out there and everybody thought that I knew people knew everything and that is why when I started this channel, I wanted to make a focus point of teaching, and showing each and everyone of you from Building to setting up to flying. I’m glad you can learn from the channel! Thank you!
Awesome video Jeff, really appreciate your efforts. I’m only a newbie to helis and the internet is my only source of instruction. I find the way you explain everything is easy to understand and make a lot of sense. Keep up the great work, big fan of your channel. Jase in Oz.
Thank you Jase! I greatly appreciate that. I’m glad these videos are helpful and you can learn from them. That is the whole goal of this channel from the beginning was to teach everybody how to fly helicopters from the build to their successful flights.
Jeff, thank you ☺️ for the basic maneuver information ℹ️, because I’m only on my first real helicopter 🚁, my previous previous experience was a Mavic Mini drone, but the joystick 🕹 moves are similar except for the whole collective pitch thing.😮😂😅😂😅😊
Thank you for watching these videos! I greatly appreciate it. Yes, it is somewhat the same basic maneuvers as far as forward backwards left and right, but yes, adding pitch adds another curve to learning.
Great thanks --- yes we want to see the stick movement's and even when you do your regular pattern at the highway field. Seeing the tx whilst your flying may indeed help me learn how to copy your pattern. Awesome can't wait. Thanks very much
You make things look so easy and make them make sense. Thanks for all your info! So, maybe a stupid question. Is there a reason you only rolled right? Does it roll better that way because of rotor direction, or just no need to show both?
Thank you! I try to make these videos as easy to follow along as possible. No, there’s no specific reason the helicopter flies the exact same in every axis. Just didn’t feel the need to show left as it is the exact same as right.
Clarification needed for me, you state adding pitch once ascending towards the top of the loop, positive or negative? Thanks for keeping the less informed (novice) informed...
I tell everyone to try pinch and see how they like it. I fly hybrid, thumb on top and pointer finger on the front of the stick. Not full pinch but more control able in my opinion.
I see you have the Rotortech Blades on the 580. Do you prefer them over the stock SABs? Which Tailblade Size do you fly? Are these 96mm or 106mm Ultimates? Thank you very much.
Great video Jeff - I see you are using rotor tech blades on your 580. I assume they are 580mm? Do you prefer them over the stock Sab blades and if so, why? Thx!
Thank you very much! I greatly appreciate it. Yes they are Rotortech ultimate 580s. I wanted to try them over the stock 580s honestly the only difference I could feel is at lower RPM. They have a lot more bit but at the higher rpm range the stock blades fly just fine. If I crashed these blades I’ll go back to the Stock SAB 580s.
Welcome to helis! Best part of the hobby. I would highly recommend you get a simulator, Realflight is a great one as you get everything you need in the box. Then after some sim time and basic understanding I would highly recommend a Goosky S2 RTF. Helicopters can be very tedious and aggravating, but so rewarding at the same time.
@@MassterYewsefth not really unfortunately, with helis everything is backwards when the heli is upside down. The main hovering and maneuvers are the same.
@ so it’s more then that but yes, your RPM is set so your throttle stick is collective. So midst stick is zero anything up is positive anything down is negative pitch, but your left is right and right is left and up is down and down is up and forward is backwards and backwards is forwards. Then depending on orientation upright or upside down, it’s all different. Nose in, tail is left right etc.
Jeff, I'm, curious about your thoughts on the IRCHA PPP as a way to progress. I don't see anyone mention it besides RC Helicopter Richard (who's amazing). I know many things are likely being revamped with the new board at IRCHA but would still like your ideas on the program itself vs other ways of progression.
I've watched many of your videos and i am very appreciative of your efforts and respect your knowledge. But i must humbly disagree with your statement of your terminology "Basic 3D",what you showed is not basic 3D.It would fall into the category of "Sport flying" with a heli.I remember a video many years ago with Curtis Youngblood (pioneer of the idea 3D) defining the word...3D,he defined it as: Simultaneously moving aileron/elevator and rudder, therefore flying in all "3 axis" constantly, hence the word/definition 3D. A simple back or forward flip is not considered 3D,it is missing the aileron and rudder inputs simultaneously,as also an elevator or aileron tic toc is not 3D. Beginnings of "Basic 3D" would be to learn pirouetting in one place which involves all three inputs aileron/elevator and rudder to constantly correct any drift while pirouetting, which than progresses into "Piro steering" moving the heli at will at any given point of the field while pirouetting and finally advancing into pirouetting maneuvers/3D such as: piro flips piro tic toc's piro funnels piro loops and so forth involving all three axis simultaneously.

agree, would love to see the heli doing the maneuver and seeing the sticks.
I’ll get a camera rigged up to my radio!
Totally agree would love to see the stick movements
@@westhobbiesrc8051 Jeff that would be fab, we love the videos but need to see what your fingers and the sticks are doing for us mere mortals
Great instruction 👍 Looks so easy, but makes also fun to watch ... It´s all about practice ,practice ,practice 😁👏👏👏
@@ThrunRC thank you! Yes sir, all about practice, practice, practice! Lots of flight time and dedication!
Another great video for us beginners. It would be great to see one pointed at the sticks and slowed way done so our brains can process it.

This channel is a must if your learning to fly helicopters. It has helped me considerably and saved my wallet and dignity

I have a bad habit of my left thumb slighting hitting rudder when im going from Pos to Neg. Wonder if pinch might be better, least for me.

Why isn’t the tail rotor spinning?
It’s spinning? Are you talking the TDS on the short?
That’s weird, I commented on the spin down short you just posted. Not sure why it showed up here 🤷🏼♂️
