Here is the problems with the General Dover elevator
1. The elevator can’t be called 1:11
2. Has trouble closing its door 1:41
3. Instead of going down it moves up which makes it over level of the floor 1:48
4. The moter kicks in and kicks out 1:48 *Listen Carefully*
5. Because of overlevel, the elevator doors get confused and struggle to open 1:57
6. 4 and 5 on the indicator lights are burned out 2:10
7. The moter sounds unhealthy 2:13
8. The elevator doesn’t level properly 2:20
9. Therefore the elevator door gets confused and struggle to open 2:20
10: down chime does 3 dings but the first ding cut off??? 2:21
11. 2:30 Andrew tells you what’s wrong here
12. The elevator struggles to go down what so ever 3:00 +
13. Number 4 button messed up 3:38
14. The moter kicks in for half a second and the elevator nudges 4:24
Poor elevator been neglected 😢
This elevator, according to the Missouri elevator records, was finally shut down on 24 May 2012. The most recent operating certificate expired on 15 October 2005.

At the time you had filmed this, there must have been a tenant still occupying the 3rd floor.
One time I got stuck in an elevator it was horrible. I pushed the floor I was going to and the doors closed but the elevator did not move. Luckily it was a glass one so I knocked on the glass to get my moms attention. And she reported it to a manager and the manager rescued me.
A tip: next time that happens to you, try pressing "door open". 😉 Hold it until the doors have fully opened and you can safely step out.
P.s. Chances are, in your case, a contact that signals to the controller that the doors are fully closed and locked failed to make, thus rendering the elevator unable to depart.
Sometimes, simply cycling the doors again will wipe any corrosion off the contacts and solve the issue temporarily.

The last tenant in the building was the barber shop seen at 1:01. Once they moved out the building was locked up and put for sale. It appears that someone has bought it and is developing a six story building with apartments and retail space. I'm surprised that it's not condemned since it's behaving like that. I wouldn't think it would pass an inspection.
It was condemned not long after this was shot and 4 years later the building was torn down.

I want to go back here and see if this elevator is even still in operation. Looking at the condition of it, and the deserted building, this elevator today is probably either defunct or destroyed. I guess we’ll see and I do hope that if there’s restoration, they modded it. As bad as it is, I think it badly needs one

I wanted to go to the bottom floor at my school today. I pressed the 0 but my friend wanted to talk to me. I stepped out, good job I did. As it was on its way down to the ground floor, we heard a massive *BANG* and it said "Out Of Service". Thank God I got out.

The building has since been torn down. I think the elevator was red-tagged and shut down at some point. From what I've heard, at the time, the only tenant was the barber on the first floor. After that, the building was completely abandoned.

Our KONE Eco disc did that once at work, top was second, I pressed G - I felt it shoot upwards, it scared the living daylights out of me, no idea why but I tried again, same result - I think I finally managed to get it going down but it scared me!

Building torn down
The parking terrace B elevator and the macy's elevator were both bad, but NOW that i've SEEN this on youtube, it's just... wow. It takes the cake.

Same thing that happened to me at the opportunity. Park parking deck in Akron, Ohio last weak we were able to ride up and once we send the elevator down and tried to get the other one the elevator started nudging on me and one of my friends and we tried to get it to move several times and it did not work so we took the stairs instead.
Such a same it's been neglected. Such a beautiful cab and fixtures. I have never ever seen an elevator actually try to go up at a top floor.

Wow, that building looks like it's not likely to be in use for much longer. That water leakage on the 5th floor is quite signifcant. Clearly there is no regular cleaning occurring there. Looking at Google there really is nothing showing up for buisnesses at 35 N Central Ave, Clayton, MO other than restaurants on street level.
What happened to that place? My history teacher is absent and on course for 2 years.
