Theodor Kirchner - Andantino Op. 55, No. 3

Theodor Kirchner (Dec. 10, 1823 - Sep. 18, 1903) was a German composer and pianist of the Romantic era. As a composer her was a natural miniaturist. Of his over 1000 piano pieces, many are only a minute or so in duration as demonstrated by this work from his Op. 55 set. He was especially influenced by Robert Schumann's music.
Whilst travelling through Germany, he befriended Robert and Clara Schumann and Brahms. Clara Schumann was very fond of him, though she wrote that 'in his character there is no stability', and it appears they had a discreet affair in the early 1860s.
Kirchner was viewed favorably by Mendelssohn, Robert Schumann, Brahms, Liszt, Wagner, Dvořák, and Grieg.
