    That’s pretty neat big b. Let me ask your professional opinion. What size prop would you start with on a Spartan with seaking 180esc and leopard 4082 1600kv motor? My smallest prop is a oxidean 45mm 9 pitch. Still too much prop. Where would you start? It’s just making the boy go nuts anything over a little over half throttle lol

      Have you tried a 4216 octura or oxidean 42 high rake, maybe a 1616 abc? I've never run that boat, just throwing a few props I'd try if I owned one

    many years ago i would use the insulation off various sizes of electric wire and heat shrink and get snug fits... i also heard wrapping teflon tape can work also...i hated any slop at all..

    I just found this of yours. earlier a video from rc boat bitz he ran a impulse 32 and a sonicwake v2 with a 4716 prop. What's yours thoughts on 4716 on the sonicwake? Thanks

      Try heat if possible and a star headed hex that's basically the same size or you'll need a screw extractor bit

      @@IRONCLADRC yes i managed to get motor and drive out and wires are long enough i won't need to disconnect from boat... have plenty of room to work... thanks for the info using a star head along with heat... i will give it a go tomorrow ..would be great to be able to save coupler... its an amazing little boat can't wait to run it... its called the deerc 2104... theres one guy thats throws it off a 40 foot bridge into rapids and has it scoot like a bat otta hell... runs up to 20 plus mins full out using a 3s 2000 included battery... stock setup 23 mph...but its only 14 inches long so it looks like its doing 40... have a great one ..happy boating!

    Hi big b .....i have 6mm shaft but 6.35 mm propller. I juste put tape..it doesnt fit nicely.

    • @IRONCLADRC
      @IRONCLADRC  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Brass or aluminum tube will work better, tape should work, bench test it first make sure it's balanced if not start over until it's perfectly balanced

    • @Rcfishingagadir
      @Rcfishingagadir 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@IRONCLADRC i ve using tape .....if its not balanced does it affect steering ?....i mean the boat at high speed turn right even the rudder is stright with the hull .

    • @IRONCLADRC
      @IRONCLADRC  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @daviddada3499 size propeller will cause what we call "PROP STEER" while the prop is turning it'll veer the boat, best way to reduce prop steer is to get a smaller size prop.

    Great Info in this video. I'm sure a lot of boater have this question. I was just about to ask you about this exact topic. Im almost finished with the FT011. It's got a 4mm sold shaft I wanted to run a 1716 on it and the prop length doesn't leave bout 1/8-3/16" of thread for bolt. have any idea what I could do with that.

    • @IRONCLADRC
      @IRONCLADRC  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've shaved the hub part of props to reduce the overall hub length, also try re-cutting the drive dog slit to move drivedog forward? You can also shave off the front of the drive dog to reduce overall length

    I do know the right prop is the best upgrade for all rtr boats...many new guys don't understand how to select props at all...i destroyed quite a few setups learning the prop basics and testing years ago... I am going to get my old glass boats up and running very soon,since i have not ran boats in over 10 years... Today i came across a very cheap wl916 boat and am very impressed with its performance... I don't have any really small boats but for around $100 shipped i think i will pick this one up...only thing i may want to do is add the best prop possible to increase performance on its 1800 40c pack it comes with... one guy showed it really hauling ass and making great out of hole shots using a 32 mm... but he never said the pitch... i think it has a tiny 22/18 out runner not sure what the kv is though... if you ever checked this one out and have suggestions on what prop will be best without adding much hotter temps i would appreciate it... thanks for all your great info...
