    @11:35 Etiquette question - I'm new to the series and still learning. My understanding is that using healing flasks is not allowed. Why is it that people using seppuku or double-seppuku as part of extremely powerful meta builds feel entitled to heal back up after using it? Taking damage is part of the tradeoff of the weapon art, no??

    • @Indi.go1

      One of my first invasions I ran into a CE user. I was in Sellia and found this guy who was naked except for a knight's helmet and who auto-parried every attack, including spells, but it never caused a parry react in me, just canceled the damage on him. Then, after it was clear I couldn't actually damage him, he hit some button on his end and I took damage from nowhere until I died.
      I'm on PC and Bamco went through all this rigamarole to put in 3rd party anti-cheat software due to that RCP exploit, but it's doing absolutely nothing to stop actual cheaters. You also constantly run into players with armor and gear they shouldnt' have at extremely low levels, or doubles of things they can't get doubles of unless they're on new game + which is either due to cheats or trades.

    As somebody who just beat the game as an INT/FAI hybrid with a focus on death and frost….yes the death spells blow for the most part. Explosive Ghostflame takes a million years and only does OK damage, Tibia Summons also take forever to come out and their tracking is absolute ass, Fia’s mist doesn’t build the status effect fast enough to matter and it dissipates pretty quickly, and the more powerful rancor spell is….fine for covering an advance since it can stagger repeatedly as long as somebody isn’t a poise monster and it’ll make them evade, but the damage still isn’t anything to write home about. Hopefully they buff those incantations, because putting them behind Hybrid stats for so little actual payoff is ROUGH.

The best part however is that even if they roll the damage they still get the magic damage debuff, much like how status procs happen when you roll the hits, so it's not useless.

    Unsure if anyone else commented this, but from what I have heard (and so far have seen? haven't tested every level range though) the Prince of Death Staff outperforms every other staff if your Int & Faith are within 5 points of each other. If they are further apart, either Lusat's or another staff will have higher Sorc scaling. I think similar data has been shown with the Golden Order Seal vs. something like the Erdtree Seal. So yeah at 80INT the Lusat's is best, but if you are 80/75 (Int/Fth) the Prince will have higher scaling. Obviously high level monster stats, but yeah... lol

  • @zs1570

    Using an Int/Faith build myself (Level 250 now) I've found it to be very useful to have the buffing staffs/seals on the opposite hand of that primary casting hand. E.g. Your main seal is in your right hand, and then the other 2 weapon slots have staves and your primary staff is in your left hand while the other 2 slots have seals. In this way you can cast both spells and sorceries, while also having the ability to hot swap your off hand for bonus damage. I mostly use the holy order seal (primary) with off hand dragon communion and gravel stone seal for dragon cult. As far as staves I use the Prince of Death's Staff primarily now with the Meteorite Staff and Carian Glintblade Staff offhand, but other useful staffs also include Staff of Loss for invisibility spells, or Carian Glintstone Staff for spells like Adula's moonblade or Carian Slicer if you favor the sword sorceries.

    I've done a lot of tweaking for this sort of INT/FTH hybrid, I've found its best to go for Arcane scaling (since you can easily get +13 Arcane) over INT/FTH scaling (Albinauric stave is 320 at 37INT/50ARC, the seal is about 330 at 32FTH/50ARC) which grants you the full suite of spells with only minimal loss of the useful high-level spells (really just Comet). The biggest help for this build is to build around the sheer amount of chain casting sorceries and incants (can't use sorceries to chain cast into incants and vice versa), flame catch+bloodflame talons, bestial sling+honed bolt or theodrix's magma, swift glinstone shard/night shard+cometshard/shard spiral/glinstone arc. Also, Ancient Death Rancor out ranges Stars of Ruin and due to the poise damage you can cast 2-3 of them uncharged and then run up and do a jumping dragon breath while they try to avoid it or are getting stunlocked by trying to tank it.

    Not sure about the sorcery scaling, but there's a gelmir's glintstone staff that has much lower soft caps for int and faith scaling. It also buffs lava sorceries if any of those are worth anything at all.
    Edit: Yeah the prince of death's staff actually scales pretty poorly until 60, and then from 60 to 80 you get better gains. The gelmir staff might be better for a hybrid that's not level 180

    a very important part of creating a pure caster is the synergy between spells, if you have a good idea of how your opponent will react to certain spells then you can flowchart out interactions with your spell lineup. A good example of this is ancient death rancor, the two most common reactions to it are to strafe it, or to aggress the caster, so you can run spells to deal with these flowchart options (something like crucible breath for an aggressing opponent, and poking tools like flames of frenzy for passive opponents), ancient death rancor is an incredible neutral tool and absolutely one of the best spells you have available on an int/fth caster

    Curious about the decision not to use the Sword of Night and Flame - was Catch Flame more reliable as a close-range attack? Love seeing the Regal Omen Bairn get some love, too - I think it's easy for people to forget about it.

    How you didnt tbag that dual naginata user is beyond me, they each deserve atleast 1 bag, multiple if they heal after seppuku

    • @Ajmes
      @Ajmes 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Healing after seppuku makes me call into question the whole 'allow your opponent to buff before' thing. If people are going to do that, think the most fair option is just not expecting to be able to buff, and just going ham from the first second possible. Think if you have to rely on someone letting you buff, balance goes out the window right there. Duels should be anything goes from the player side of things, and devs should balance anything else beyond that.

    • @Ajmes
      @Ajmes 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When the self-damage is intended as part of the 'balance' on such a blatantly overpowerd imbalanced ability, don't think I'm ever going to assume I can buff, or let anyone get away with it. Not allowing healing flasks in duels is kinda stupid also, since having a lot of defenses and mobility makes flask usage more worthwhile, which nerfs an aspect of a build potentially. If your opponent can do it too, it should be considered alright to use. In a lot of other multiplayer games, burst damage is balanced by 'sustain'. Some builds will be stronger simply because nobody is expected to use heals in the fight. If you're not using something very FP efficient, healing will partially counter you.

    I actually main an Int/Fai death build, and Explosive ghostflame is actually quite good as a finisher. The AOE explosion is very large and it does around 750 damage for me at around 55/55 int/fai. Additionally, it cant be rolled through!
    Also, the skeletons can't hit a moving target, but due to their range you can use it to punish people casting elden stars or frenzied flame burst.
    But as you found, Ancient death rancor is the best death spell out of all of them. I haven't really tried Fia's mist in pvp, but I know it is a useful zoning/disengage

    I’ve honestly find Int/Faith not to be that hard. Your melee is very limited of course, but you can easily make up for that in Golden Order Seal and Death Prince Staff both having pretty nice Spell Scaling on them with the right stats. Talismans that buff spells are also always on the table. As for my final note, I’ve found that the Gelmir Glintstone Staff is actually a bit better than Staff of The Death Prince around the 40/40 Int/Faith Range. Hope this helped anyone who reads this wanting to try Int/Faith

    Have you tried the Triple Rings of Light spell? Its fairly fast, covers a wide area and is very good at zoning opponents because it goes out and back to you like a boomerang. The damage isn't the highest but its enough to make opponents have to stay at a distance or roll away. It stops a lot of pressure because of the boomerang effect they can't pressure you because the rings will hit them in the back.

    I'm surprised that you don't use the triple rings spell. I think it might count as a fundamentalist spell (most of the faith/int spells). It also can cover you quite well because not only do they go out, but they come back which could give you some extra time to cast even more spells. If I am right about them being fundamentalist I think you then would get a buff based on your seal.
