Hey guys, as i continue trough Rank II USA i revisited the P-40's, which was a fun experience. I had a couple of enjoyable matches so i decided to make a joint review. F-10 use a merlin engine so it retains more of its horsepower output at higher altitude compared to E1. That's really the only performance difference.
Greg's Airplanes and Automobiles has a video on it; P-40 Warhawk Allison vs. Merlin. He has a speed chart showing the difference at higher altitude starting at timestamp of 10:41
I've just finished researching and buying all USA rank 2 planes and found the P40s very effective for bringing down bombers and energy fighting. It was a tough start though the P40e with no upgrades would burst into flames very easily but once upgraded had much improved durability. I found the P40s, P38s and P400 very effective at BR 2.7 in AB. I'm starting on Rank 2 Germany next, a quick look at the lower tier planes and they appear undergunned compared to the USA, but likely stronger in other area such as climb rate.
I always liked 12,7 on american planes. very powerfull punch
Best thing about props is that when your team dies in a few minutes you still have a chance to carry the game or some to the grave with you. At late jets its much harder or maybe I am not capable to revert an "already lost" game.
its easier in props yes, as positioning can safe the day, in jets not so much. As missiles go vertical as well ;)
Yeah I'm with you, I just had a match where there was one 109 left on the other team.. had 2 b34s and 3 fighters chase him and turnfight over his base and essentially suicide with players like that you really have to carry the team... with top tier I either get a critical hit and have someone burning down then a missile steals the kill or I get shot down with a tomcat radar missile from my own team
Got to love the P-40s, really hope they add the P-40N some day at somewhere around 3.3-3.7 with mid-war AP-I universal belts.
would be nice indeed, if they ever stop focussing on the jets.
Love the P-40's their armament for their BR is pretty damn amazing.

I love my p40e got a maxed out pilot. 6 50s. Strong fast in a dive and turn good with speed. Definitely surprises people when they come up against a good pilot who knows the p40s strengths and weakness.
yeah, its very fun and that surprise ppl get is priceless.
My favourite thing about the P40s is how many amazing and UNLOCKABLE skins they have

Gotta love low tier America, one of the most fun nations in game and It requires a lot of discipline to play some (if not most) of their planes correctly :)

The Cannonstang is my goto plane when playing America. Don't know why. Not an amazing plane, it just looks so sexy.

US in prop tier is not a noob friendly nation in any way shape or form. It requires a solid understanding of energy fighting. That's why most US Main players are garbage. US nation is a magnet for head-on commiting, one kill a match and die morons. Very upsetting.

arguably my best performance plane in US tree used to hold the number 1 spot on my service record for highest and best kill ratio until I get my hand on Swedish J21. I wish there are more P40 at higher tier
yeah, that would be great. I fear gaijin is too busy adding jets.
P40s are some of my favorite planes at this tier. I really enjoyed the reversal footage. Great video!

I absolutely love the p40 to death. Pretty balanced. Few planes can outgun the 6 50 cals in that br and it has good speed at low altitude, good roll and sturdy, but poor climb and high altitude performance. Overall pretty balanced and I love this jack of all trades plane and I love the video

One of my favourite planes to fly with the French premium version at 2.3 BR.
They may not excel in one aspect but they are consistent.
yeah, that is their strenght. consistent, reliable, thrustworthy and solid.

@@smoke1410 That's exactly what it looked like, the recovery then was somewhat amazing to continue on like it never happened lol.
I got a talisman randomly for the P40F and its unlocked quite a bit of my American tree. Got my first few aces in war thunder with it, great plane for it's tier, just be sure to climb. Plus it's a very good bomber hunter for late-match opportunities, especially if a bomber is low altitude.

One of my favourites at rank 2 USA. Works in mixed battles too. The Warhawks are very versatile. It’s amazing.

My only real gripe with this aircraft is that its tail control surfaces really lock up past 300kts so it’s an easy thing to forget when executing boom and zoom attacks (makes aiming hard and pulling up tricky). An otherwise solid aircraft! With the right tactics 3 or more kills are possible per match.

A lot of the jack of all trades are implemented in such a way that the emphasis is more on the "master of none" side of things. I always find myself frustrated with planes like the P40 that are just sort of middling at everything
Fair enough, i quite like the flexibility of planes like this.
Sometimes you go up against a plane that outclassed you in every regard, and that is frustrating to be sure. But the key to doing well in planes like this is to try to isolate 1v1's and to understand the plane you're going against, and patiently set yourself up so you can maximize your performance, and force them into situations where their plane is lacking. Eg, outrun zeros and do a fast, shallow climb until he gives up, or you get enough alt to boom and zoom. Or bait a 190 to dive on you, then out turn 190's or heavy fighters. Experience comes into play to determining what to do when.

Just a quick question well first love your content keep to it bro I have learned so much... Ok question is there any way for you to do vids with captions. My son is deaf and he is trying to watch and learn from you. I have to "translate" for him which is fine but when am work he can't watch you. Thank you kindly and keep on going.
Captions is a TH-cam feature you can actually turn on.
I just tried the cc feature and its working fine.
Yep CC is the closed caption option and your son will be able to watch anything after, good luck!

Great to see you flying in 112 Sqn RAF "Shark Squadron" skin. This was one was one of the aircraft flown by Australia's highest scoring WW2 fighter pilot, Clive "Killer" Caldwell, in Libya during the North African campaign. Good Stuff Jengar! Always love your vids :)

I personally love the P-40s, I currently have all the premium P-40s, ,(the communist P-40, the French one and the Chinese H-81)

Every time I think about the p-40 is a brown p40 with American starts on the edge of the wings and a shark like jaws and eyes drawing on the nose. Just like on the intro
The P-40 is just one of those planes that's always a good time. Get some friends, put on some appropriate music, and just relax while wrecking all that challenge your authority

You are a beast. I wish I had this experience with planes. I have a decent understanding but I don't really play air realistic. However, I am looking forward to grinding some air tech trees. I am thinking about Russia because I don't have CAS above 3.3.
practice makes perfect. Its a long learningcurve for air RB, but its very rewarding.

I always wonder how/why the F model didn't do better? Limited access to refurbished Merlins (as all Packard-Merlins were going straight to Mustangs or overseas to the Brits) choked it off early. It wasn't around long enough for the Allies to take full advantage of its higher-altitude capabilities.

Good video ,you list the different rounds but what rounds are you using in the this video and how do you turn so tight.

Mustang will always be the patriot favorite but the 40 is a very good below average plane ( for tier 2 )

Love using these when you're losing an AB battle. Add the bombs and ground pound. Can turn a match. Why was the P40C left out of this review? Would like to have heard your opinion on it.
Because its not in the regular rank II USA tree ;) which is what im flying atm for the rank review.

these aren't the most efficient planes ever, but they are the most fun. as long as you keep speed they roll and turnfight well. they're a little sluggish at lower speeds but not the worst.
they are very nice indeed! just outclassed by other planes in the rank, but still good.
Whatever you are flying. Keep the speed up. Speed is your life as well as altitude.

I just started on us plane’s thanks for doing this video just got to the p40 but didn’t go after any bombers yet because I thought it would be easier to use fighters then go for bombers I’m in rank 2 now so I’m asking what’s the best planes to go for ? To grind out bombers?

I love the P40E, but for me the F variant doesn’t have the magic that the E does. I have never figured out why.

Are you using 30 min of fuel load or the minimum fuel load is 30min?
20 max most matches, but if the minimum is more then 20, then minimum.

idk how to control the warhawks (p-40 E and F) it suddenly drifts while im turning
sometimes planes need to be fought to make them do what you want.
Is it better that I use the p 40 f10 or the p 51 c?
They are different br's. the p-40 isnt as effective on later br's for grinding.
i tried to play the game for 2 days and there is no point in even trying to learn the game, im not going to wait a year until i can kill 1 dude, i spent 3 hours yesterday just dying over and over again, even in arcade with the lead and everything i can dump every round i have and hit an enemy and it wont do a thing to it, while i litteraly get 1 shoted instantly, i know its a skill issue but at least i was hoping to have some fun but i found out quickly that its impossible for a new player to have fun in this game, i dont mean i was expecting to get 10 kills every match but i was hoping to at least have fights, all that ended up happening was every fight i tried i was getting killed in less than 1 sec, or players will just crash into you on purpose while themselves leave unscaved, war thunder is a really good game but not friendly for new players, so yeah i give up im not going to waste hours and hours just looking at the main menu
if you're playing arcade you should watch the two arcade tutorials that i made. How to get more kills, and how i get my kills. After watching those you should be able to do a little better i think.

man, any plane will teach you different things, so any plane can be great for a lesson.

because of variety! and testing your skills in planes that are not the best.
This plane have amazing history. But in warthunder? It's just a sad plane... get eat by basically anything that have brain attach to it.
sad plane? i would not describe it as such for its WT performance.
most plane out perform it at their br bracket and some of them sits at lower br as well, i think you already know by now.
Problem is not the plane, it's BR system and their decision to place such plane in BR bracket.
Still this plane is such a lower BR so performance isn't an issue, until facing clubber.

Опущу, что противники какие-то тупые томаты, которые никак не реагируют на летящий сверху и пикирующий затем самолёт. Как он хорошо управляется.. Как он сохраняет энергию в почти вертикальном положении.. Господи, что не так с моим P-40E-1? Это тупое и унылое корыто, которое имеет очень узкий диапазон скорости, в котором он хорош - это 400-500 км/ч. Ниже - он плохо управляется из-за своей массы и отвратительного слабого двигателя, выше - из-за инертности. То, что с ним происходит на скоростях около 600 км/ч и выше говорить страшно, это кусок говна, который летит чисто по прямой, при этом трясясь на протяжении всего полёта. Он не способен в манёвренный бой, если ваш противник не идиот, он не способен в бум-зум, это самолёт одной атаки: вы набираете высоту чуть более 2 км, и выбираете маленькую группу или один самолёт, и осторожно атакуете, не доходя до максимальной скорости до того, как начнёте стрелять, и стрелять нужно почти филигранно, потому что второго шанса не будет. Убили или повредили - супер, промахнулись или легко поцарапали - уходите, и он это может. Лучший геймплей, очень интересно, гори этот кусок говна в аду. Поменяйте моё мнение

i wouldnt call it over powered. It's not that exceptional.
Eh not really. It's pretty balanced. Good guns, sturdy, good speed at low altitude, but not so good high altitude performance and poor climb. You just need to know how to counter it
