FINALLY, a video that gets straight to the point! For the past 2 days I’ve been watching hours of video trying to narrow down my decision between replacing my canon g7x mark ii (that broke) and the Sony ZV-1. I watched a 58 minute video by a tech TH-camr and was still confused on which camera was better because I secretly feel like they’re trying to sell me both. Your video is clear, concise, informative, and to the point for someone like me! Also, thank you for showing video footage of your skin because that was a huge concern of mines that nobody covered.

I find the look with the canon is more flattering.

The Sony moves a lot stability wise, even when you were walking outside. The quality is amazing though. I just had to replace my g7x mark ii and got the mark iii which doesn’t auto focus well. So i decided to buy another canon g7x mark ii! Thanks for this video it was helpful!
Yes the thing with the Sony is you can turn stability on and off unlike the canon. I did not have the stability on in this video.
The auto focus is a lot better on the Sony but I prefer the color science of the Canon. Also, I like the wider field of view and touch screen.
They both are amazing cameras!

With your product reviews the Sony has an extra button for product photo’s. Maybe it will make the focus on the brush better?

@@MaiahChanel yes it is! You can take it off again as well! I myself just bought an extended joby tripod 325 so that the view is a bit wider if I would vlog.

Not to get to "techy" but the ZV-1 also has optical and digital stabilization, you just need to turn it on in settings. Ultimately becoming familiar with settings will help users get the most out of the camera.

Good comparison. I bought the Sony as well because its definitely the better camera, but the only thing Canon has over Sony is their skin tones and color straight out of camera. I don't know how they do it, but its like magical. The canon makes skin look more beautiful compared to sony

Do you think the flip-out screen on the ZV-1 is an issue compared to the flip-up screen on the G7X mark 3 for vlogging? I really want the ZV-1 but I'm afraid in the video recording it's going to show me looking way too far to the right instead of looking at the camera. Do you think it is a big issue of having a side screen instead of top screen?
For me personally, I have gotten used to just looking at the lens but I love the quality of the camera better for sure!

Great video. The Sony ZV-1 and the ZV-1F are definitely the kings of vlogging compact cameras as of now. 3rd would be the Canon GX7 III (it has an audio jack, whereas the GX7 II doesn't, but the GX7 is cheaper). The budget and compact vlogging cameras following after are the Lumix LX10 and Canon GX7 II. For anyone who was wondering. Also the Canon M200 is a good compact camera option.

This was such a good review. Thank you so much. I appreciate your side by side comparison. The Sony picture quality looks notably nicer to me. Better lighting. The Canon seems to have better stabilization. I don't plan to do much walking about in my videos so I think the Sony is what I should go for!

The Canon stability is far superior. Its zoom is great, shame about the autofocus. Did you update the firmware?
I didn’t have the stability mode on for the Sony. But someone else told me to do that too I’m going to do that today 🤣

This is a great video I just sent back my Mark iii and buying the Sony ZV-1!
Lol! I did the same thing but I just traded the mark III for the canon m50 so both are a great combo to have when starting your channel
@@MaiahChanel Would you say you use the m50, or the ZV-1 more often? I think the smaller footprint will encourage me to grab it with me more often? Could just be me though?
Zachary Cadena so since I recently purchased both I’ve used them equally just to test out which would be better when it comes to filming my content. For some reason I’ve noticed that any canon that I use picks up humming sounds whereas the Sony does not. This is easily fixed in editing though. The canon gives me a wider view and a brighter picture but the Sony gives me a warm tone and I love the bocas focus feature. The m50 is small enough to be a grab and go but the Sony for sure can be pocketed. I’d have to give you an update on which one I’ve used more in a few weeks but they both defiantly serve their own purposes.
@@MaiahChanel I wonder if the humming is from the auto focus, have you tried using an external mic like the Rode Video Micro? I think I bought it for about $50-70 and it improved my Audio quite significantly! It's still Rode so you know the quality is good, but its their most compact/lowest price model!
Yes, the kit I purchased came with a Rode Mic. I will do more testing. I’m more of a consumer than a camera expert so I’ll keep trying to figure out why I’m getting the hum
Sis last question while I have you, what software do you use for editing i have a galaxy so I movie isn't an option for me? If you haven't made a video already... that would be really great for your channel.
If you’re going to be using your phone use InShot if your phone has that or try adobe premiere rush

Yikes, this was so long ago I cant even remember. I may have answered in a previous comment but i'll check and see if I can find it.
Sorry, what happens is that I recently became interested in this camera and wanted to know if the latest update 1.2.0 of 12/12/2019 solved the problem.
No worries, So the camera was purchased after that date so I’m assuming that is the version that was on it.
AWesome I am thinking of selling my SL2 Canon, and get the Sony Zv1 but now I might keep my SL2 Canon and still get the Sony Zv1
