I just keep remembering the perfect open ending to GoT with Danny and her dragons crossing the sea to this theme at the end of season 6. Sends shivers down my spine. Wish they had continued it after that.

Thats season had alot of problems though, I think it's clear it was heading downwards from season 5. Really glad they decided to end it at 6 while some dignity was left.

I love how Samuel's version of the Targaryen Theme truly captures the majesty and might of the Targaryen Dynasty, the last Dragonlord clan to have existed in the ASOIAF universe.
2:50 that AOT "Ashes on the Fire" bit being snuck in is quite poetic given the Targaryens' connection with fire and blood + Rhaenyra's "I do not wish to rule over a kingdom of ash and bone" + Dany's "I will not be queen of the ashes" + if you think about what happened to King's Landing in the final season of GoT. Absolutely in love with this.

There's that very wild part around 1:22, I think Daenerys gave the Targaryens that tribal vibe through being involved with the Dothraki and now HOTD is riding that wave. + That dragon stuff on top? Perfect.
in addition, dragons are fairly untame. regardless of riders. i love that transition.
And to think, Daenerys is the culmination of her House, all her ancestors led to her birth. Martin built House Targaryen around her and it’s fitting all prophecies herald her arrival. I believe Martin wrote her as the last true Targaryen, mirroring the Conqueror himself, to redeem her ancestor’s sins.

It's what makes the Targs the best family in GoT/HotD they have such massive high and lows, villains, heroes, and all the grey shades in-between come from their family.

I'm so happy to be back in the Game of Thrones world. It makes me remember the good days of the series and now House of Dragon makes me forget about season 8. Hopefully we'll get a couple of good years of this show. And good music :)

House of the Dragon (2022 -) is one of the best, perhaps the best prequel of all time in the history of the television industry that I have seen in my life since Better Caul Saul (2015 - 2022). I consider it to be not only a worthy successor, but also a significantly superior improvement over its predecessor, Game of Thrones (2011 - 2019) in all respects. The Targaryens have become my favorite noble family from the epic fantasy literature series A Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin, since I met Princess Rhaenyra in the first episode, and you loved the theme song, Samuel Kim. I am 100% sure that the composer of the series himself, Ramin Djawadi, would be proud of you.

Years later I still think Game of Thrones is one of the best things to be put on television EVER!!! I know the last two seasons were pretty bad but this show offered some of the best television to ever exist, it changed the game :)
I know the show was heading towards nowhere when D&D decided to butcher Stannis in Season 5. Season 6 was great over all.. but yeah 7 and 8 divided logic
@@LucerysOwner I personally think seasons 5 and 6 are pretty good. Perhaps they’re not as good as say seasons 3 and 4 but I think they’re solid (especially compared to other television shows). 7 is questionable and 8 kinda sucks balls but I don’t think it’s enough to ruin the show’s entire legacy. Just like how the Terminator sequels aren’t enough to ruin the legacy of the first two movies
Honestly I thought this theme was more suited to Daenerys' story. Her life and struggle for power sees much success and tragedy with an element of unknown mysterious wonder throughout (related to the unknown nature of the dragons and magic, in the war of the 5 kings era) and I feel like the music conveys her story very well.
As for the new series, I was excited for a new theme for a known and established Targaryen Kingdom with known and less mysterious dragons. Something more powerful with less of a sad tragic tone.
I know there is a lot of tragedy in their family in HOTD but the overwhelming emotion in this theme song matches the tragedy of Daenerys so well. She is alone in the world, the only family she knew was her stupid abusive brother who couldn't tell her anything useful about dragons. She gets dragons but has no idea how to handle them. She has to learn from scratch and when she finally gets control of them and builds her army, she is struck with loss after loss including 2 of her dragons. Her story then is cut short and feels unfinished (and it would feel unfinished for her to die in her 20s even if it wasn't for the mediocre writing at the end).
That's how it feels to me.
Most of the theme here used was danys and beats are from hotd
I know this theme at it's core the very essence of Targaryen majesty, power, and grandiosity, but the melody will always bring me back to Daenerys Targaryen. At 2:06 that is actually Dany's melody just like how Rhaenyra has her own melody throughout the series. Daenerys was presented with all this greatness of a dynasty but all she just really wants is the house with the red door. The childhood she had never known.
Dany on the iron throne just gave me chills . Makes me remember how her character ended. But it’s still amazing to see.
It's from the official season 8 posters, it had all the characters sitting on the throne. They did the same for season 1.
Such an amazing first season of HOTD. And fnally... The Dance shall begin 🤩😎
This music sounds so exhiliarating and yet so cold blooded, i can feel power, greatness, grace, unmatched wit and intellegence, the reason we love targaryans.
