Route 66 - Springbank Big Band

The Springbank Big Band roars down Route 66 with this V8 full bore version of the Bobby Troup classic. Who knew that the full title of the song is "(Get Your Kicks on) Route 66" ?
Formed in 1998 the Springbank Big Band's main focus is music from the magical era of 1940's big bands. However, as you can see from the selection of songs in this video, they also blend in newer pop, R & B and jazz classics! These talented musicians have played at the Havana International Jazz Festival as well as the Crescent City Jazz Festival in New Orleans.

I 've
been a pro drummer for 3-decades; I've played this song with a Texas Swing band, with a Chicago Blues band and now I'm doing this tune working with a swing big band in Oregon. Great stuff. The Texas swing band version had steel guitar, fiddle and cruised along at about 128BPM!

Looks like a "Community" jazz band...in that case, most directors would focus on inclusion rather than eliminating those wishing to play.
