The gentleman on piano was Minoru Ozone, father of Makoto Ozone, a world-famous jazz pianist. The father is obviously no slouch either, but unfortunately, passed away in Feb. 2018. The BFJO is still a fantastic jazz/swing band. Listen to them go from jazz to a killer rendition of "Perfidia" in this video: th-cam.com/video/YfEyYjcGCHI/w-d-xo.html ..Joe
EXCELLENT all-girl jazz band -- you don't hear *that* too often! Hpe they all stay in jazz as they grow up. Very fine arrangement, too -- kudos to the arranger.
Boy, they really ARE friendly, I started grinning at the start with the puppet gals, and never stopped grinning all the way through. The conductor's little wink at the cameraman was just the pinnacle of the friendly, happy mood. Such talent, too, so smooth and so sharp. Great jazz.
They are so similar to the people in the film " Swing Girls" Just one FANTASTIC guy on the piano, A GREAT FILM with sub-tittles. Check out the film.....GREAT!
I am impressed, I have not heard a young band this tight - Puts a lot of (seasoned) professional to bed. I had my head turned and thought L. Armstrong started that trumpet solo! Nice Job.
"Stickans Swing o Swäng" The Girls are playing very well and with a nice melody with the name "Route 66" I love this melody Thank you girls! Stig Karlsson Grängesberg Sweden and Scandinavia.
Thought I had seen everything in music on youtube. Here are young japanese girls doing a jazz song written and performed in 1946. They are very talented, wearing all the same sailor uniforms. What a great contrast to the crappers that think they are musicians. The puppet girls are a cute touch . Never will see this on TV in the US. It's Justin Beavers and other rubbish.

I'd like to know as well. Can the arrangement be obtained in the US??? Hope someone will reply. At least a couple of people would like to know. Thanks BFJO!!
I've watched several of these videos featuring Japanese bands, including the fancy marching bands with their dancing and all. My question: Why are these bands about 99 percent girls? Is there some reason boys don't play instruments in Japan?
I love it. I really do. Not only is the music wonderful, but watching these young ladies perform perfectly

Cool and totally professional 🎉🎉🎉

This highschool jazz band is a model of the film. And this guy is a father of a famous jazz pianist Ozone Makoto.
Absolutely wonderful

BFJO gives me a new reason to watch!

Any idea who is the arranger? Great tune with an awesome arrangement!
I'd like to know as well. Can the arrangement be obtained in the US??? Hope someone will reply. At least a couple of people would like to know. Thanks BFJO!!
Pretty sure it's arranged by Micheal Sweeney.
may be wrong

Would love to hear the theme from the pink panther
Yeah, nice. But what's with the pom pom girls??? Kept waiting for them to sing....
I think you will find that all the students (girls in this case), are all musicians who play in the band at various times
なんで?
じじいのピアノに?
