I prefer that way, when we have to make lots of flies we afford some time and reduce the amount of thread in the flie. Don't forget to put something in the thread when split (Stick glue or wax) that will help you to secure the material before spining. 😉

That’s a real fly and a cool technique. I’d try this with Hendricksons and sulphurs!
