- I spent a couple of days on the McCloud, Spring 2021, and came across this nice little section of water. I like fishing water like this because a lot of people we just pass it up. The water is pretty fast in this little section, and the river narrows down. It's nice little place to do some nymphing. Please give the video a thumbs up/down and leave a comment. Thanks for watching. Enjoy.
I think water like that is my absolute favorite! What a great fish to finish on!
I like this kind of water, too. Many people pass it up. Thanks for watching.
Awesome video.
Thanks Old Smuggler Fly Fishing.
Great video, effective technique, prime water, good times! Just high-sticked the McCloud over the weekend and it was superb. Watching this video was déjà vu all over again!
Hi Tony. I am glad to hear you were just up there. It's California's trout gem. How was the color and clarity of the water? Thanks for leaving a comment.
was the river dirty?
@@blufiche6333 When I was there, in mid June, no. I heard it's bad now. I think Tony was there just before the water turned. On my drive out, I drove by mud creek and stopped to check it out. The flows were low at that time, but the water was grey. If I hear anything. I will post it here. Good luck in the meantime.
Nice I was there about 2 months ago. Fishing was good this year. Subscribed with both my accounts.
Dirty Shop DIY - Thanks for subscribing. I usually load up on Conservancy passes in the Fall, but changed my approach do to the threat of wild files. Maybe I will see you on the river. Thanks again.
Never seen someone on a mountain stream so covered from the sun. 😂🤣
Loved the butterfly shot at the beginning! was that shot on your GoPro?
Hey PD, thanks. It was on the gopro. I have been shooting in HD and at 60fps, that way I can slow things down, if needed. I hope you are surviving the heat up north.
@@flowflyfishing2131 Not too bad up here for me (low 90s) however the average temps this time of year is in the low 80s.
no instruction? using a split shot to get it down?
Whats the best water to wade on the mccloud? Up by the dam the holes seemed pretty deep.
If you go past the dam, about a half mile or so, there is a foot bridge at Ash Camp. All that water is great, and below. Be safe.
@@flowflyfishing2131 thanks flow
Are those wild rainbows ?
yes, all wild rainbows and browns
Hard to hear you talking through your buff… other than that, beautiful section of the McCloud.
thanks for the tip. Most of the time now, I am overdubbing my vocal in post. I try to keep that buff over my mouth if my lip is exposed to the sun. Hopefully, the McCloud will be in better shape than last year.
BEAUTIFUL vid Flow. The view upstream when you caught that last one was sooo colorful! I heard you mention Wolly Bugger and Frenchie - is that right? Were you dropping the Frenchie off the Wolly?
Thanks!!
Thanks old fart. Yeh, the frenchie was on the tag, the bugger was the point. The bugger was small, tied on a size 16 hook.
@@flowflyfishing2131 Thx
not as fast as we think, trout can do in much much faster than this
so true. It's amazing how fast they can swim against the current.
