@@nevillej9408yeah, it is such a nightmare getting the password reset. It should be a simple process associated with your apple Iad
It's because you have FileVault on. It adds extra security by decrypting the boot drive only when an authenticated user logs in or you enter the recovery key. I'm sorry bud but you can't recover your data even if you remove the drive from the macbook. A repair shop won't help because they need the recovery key to unlock the drive. Do you remember what you set the recovery key to? Did you write it down somewhere? I assume you didn't because you're asking for help.

My advice for a future macbook, either write down the recovery key, disable FileVault, or don't enable it in the first place. Windows has a similar feature called BitLocker, but it gets unlocked on boot.
