    I totally agree with you on the Daiwa braking system, one of the best, if not the best on the market. I'm looking forward to your casting test of the 80, if it can handle finesse weight lures nearly as good as a Spinning reel, I'll be more interested in it.

    I’m so glad you mentioned the Rod power, a 300 dollar Daiwa etc. will be horrible to try to cast a 1/4 ounce Lure on a Medium Heavy Fast Rod. A 60 dollar Lews on a medium Rod will cast 1/8th ounce stuff really well with that flex in the Rod Tip.

  • @farrzmd3038
    @farrzmd3038 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    The $199 price point may be the deciding factor. Shimano slx mgl 70 at $149.99 takes the slight edge. I love how daiwa reels cast. I have the daiwa tatula ct and I’ve never backlashed it. My only complaint is the position of the brake dial, I run it on 6 but sometimes I click the dial without realizing it and bump it up losing casting distance. .... but like you said I rely more on the rod for lighter crank, especially ones like the og tiny. Picked up an ark Cobb in medium regular paired with a abu black max and it casts the tiny with ease on 12lb line. Whereas putting that same reel on a lews tp1 black medium / mod fast was almost impossible to cast the tiny.

    I'm a huge Daiwa fan, as I've said before. But with it being $199........nope. Not crazy about blowing that much money for one so compact. The Tatula 100 can perform as well. I'm huge on finesse fishing and do well at it!!! Today I took my Lew's Smash spinning gear and landed some nice fish in the middle of a cold front. I did manage to break line on a hookset that was not expected. The fish was bigger than I thought & I over reacted. I can use my Lew's baitcaster for finesse fishing. But I prefer the spinning tackle for more accuracy and line capacity. I had a good 4 hours, but that's all I had. Still a bit cold but I can tell it's still early before they really turn on. Nice review on the Tatula 80.

    The Daiwat? 😱😂
    Seriously tho man, never owned a Daiwat, but I’m definitely sold on picking up a Daiwa Tatula 80 for my first go for the brand. Huge arachnophobe, except for SpiderMan, but I’m definitely going to add this to my arsenal.
    Close to a BFS, need a good finesse rig. Love that inductor on the spool. Got a small grip, so that lower profile and smaller reels feel so much better and give less fatigue. And 9.9 lbs of drag fits well here in MI, where we aren’t getting double digit tanks.
    Thanks for another great gear review and bringing great info for us every day anglers Debo!

    I'd be interested to try one. I picked up an Alphas SV TW and I feel that my Tatula SV103 reels cast light stuff better.
    PS. I have yet to have a leader knot get stuck in the T-wing. I use the alberto knot. Biggest line I used is 40lb braid to 20lb fluoro.

  • @rainbosprinkles6548
    @rainbosprinkles6548 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Love my Diawas especially the sv103s. A big drawback for me though and I mean huge is how easily the mag force know turns and its located right where my finger sit. Every single cast I have to at least reset the brake or at least check it.
    I would choose the SV 103 over the new 80. Id even grab the 2017 SV103 they still sell over the new 80.

    Thanks Debo!!! I thoroughly enjoy using my Daiwa reels, but I don’t know about this one especially at $200. For $50 less, the SLX MGL 70 is tough to beat for finesse lures. I’m curious if this will handle light lures better than the SV TW 103 at the same price point. That reel can toss finesse lures better than most. Great ViDEBO and thanks for the shoutout!
