Yep. I am white, and the difference when I go into stores myself or with a white person, vs with a Black or Brown friend, is NOT the same. Not all of them, but a lot of them. Getting followed closely around, side eyed, passive aggressive comments, directly rude comments about thieves or about ability to pay.

It's a shame! I went to a BMW dealership but never got a salesman's attention. I walked around for about an hour, then I left the establishment. I went to a Mercedes Benz dealership just down the street! I walk in still wearing a white t-shirt, black extra-length gym shorts, a top with a baseball cap worn backward. I was greeted like a celebrity, coffee and donuts, then told me to sit and choose the car I requested.! They made me a deal I couldn't refuse, I did some small negotiations and made the purchase of over $65,000! I thank everyone involved in my buying process! I stop by the BMW dealership to check my tire pressure on my new 2024 MB E-Class!

I remember being judged years ago when entering a furniture store that sold furniture with all coordinated items by the room. My daughter and I walked in silghtly ahead of another couple entering. The salesperson ignored us and quickly with a smile and energetic approach welcomed the couple with "Hello how can I help you today?" Another salesperson got up from the desk and greeted us. I purchased the entire room of living room furniture (sofa, loveseat, 3 tables,
2 lamps, large wall picture) paying cash. The couple purchased nothing.

My heart goes out to you for being treated poorly. There's no excuse. It's disturbing to have racism still out there, even when it's a slight comment or perception. I thought we were finely doing better as a country until Trump gave the green light for the deplorables to come out from under their rocks and make racism acceptable again. We need to do better. It should never be acceptable in any situation. Hopefully Trumpism will be flushed from our politics and media very soon. We cannot heal and have true equality and equity until every hint or subtle nuance is squashed for good. We are all humans and should be treated equally without regard to race, color, religion, country of origin, male, female, gender, income, job status, or anything that doesn't break any laws. We all deserve to be treated with kindness, dignity, and integrity, regardless of any personal prejudices.

What a story...I enjoyed from the start till it concluded...
My take on the narrative is what Marcus did was the right decision...ever.
Rationale....the ethics of a life lived with a rational meaning and purpose to propound propositions for the greater good rather than for persona gain...
I applaud Marcus fir the decision he made....

I went to a craft store and asked if they carried a certain type of left-handed scissors(bcz I'm left-handed). They lady said yes but they are REALLY expensive and she got me another pair that were not for left-handers. I found a manager and asked the same question. She asked me if there was someone in the fabric section and I said yes but all she could tell me is they are expaensive and offered me these. She went to the back and GAVE me the scissors said the cost will come out of her pay.

Stores, even high end stores, are closing daily. Then these type of disrepectful employees are unemployed. Shareholders lose money. Not everyone wishes to dress up merely to please a store clerk. Not everyone who is not Caucasion is poor. Hopefullly some store owner/ manager considers these facts. I had them sit down and got them coffee and would talk to them and explain our process and got their paper work done and got them out the door as fast as I can. Then I would go to scale them out so they were treated as they were special because to me they were special.

I went in one of them one time and security almost ran into me trying to find me. I wasnt even in the store 5 minutes. I got so sick of them. I just quit going there, but i did get them just before i stopped going there. I used to confront them and tell them that i don't steal; my white friends steal for me. In the past 25 years I've been in that store about 10 times. Good clothes and good quality, but not worth going in there and being humiliated. Should be able to sue them for harassment

My husband and I were shopping for a new truck. We were dressed in sweats, sneakers, and baseball hats. We walked the lot for at least 30 minutes. We were ignored by all of the white salespeople. Finally, we were approached by a salesman (of color). He spent a lot time with us and answered all our questions. My husband settled on a new Jeep. We walked inside the dealership, passed the salespeople who ignored us, and sat down to begin the purchase process. All the while the others were watching and listening. We our salesman asked about financing we replied loud enough for the others to hear, financing will not be necessary were buying it outright with a cashier's check. Afterwards, their attention and attitude shifted to a more friendly vibe. They had the nerve to asked if I was interested in buying a vehicle too. I replied yes, but I'm headed to the audi dealership. Needless to say, it was rinse and repeat. I too left with the vehicle of my choice and paid for it outright. The floor manager was stunned. I take pleasure in proving the old saying, you can't judge a book by it's cover. And sometimes I walk out and never return.

I have walked into Stores in Georgia, one of the stores I will talk about “ROOMS TO GO”, every time we would enter this store the black people would not approach, and we would leave, but one day a lady approached us and we purchase a kitchen from her. Upon returning later she wasn’t there and once again the blacks in the store did not pay us any attention. Like most stores like this we stop going. When in Chicago, Baltimore, New York, Tennessee, California, Indiana, and so many other places, I have always been treated with so much love and admiration. The people of melanated skin have always treated me the way I deserve. I’ve never had a problem with our light complexion skinned people who are descendants of the most powerful Continent of the world. I’m sure in some cases it might be because of my complexion. My point is the beautiful melanated skinned people of Georgia come from a different culture and the people who moved here feel the same as I do. For one we were not born here some of us haven’t even been here for over 5 years but it’s a huge difference now I’ve been to Virginia and the people here have power and the atmosphere is awesome. It is like stepping in a place where everyone is treated the same no matter the cash in the bank. They look upon you has human and how you action toward them even without you saying a word. Another point I like to say, the state of Georgia is overshadow with the gay population because they need to be heard. N they are being heard here, they feel safe because the community here is large and they can be what they personal feel is best for them. When you approach them they are one of the most considerate group of people you would ever want to talk to. When we go to Walmart, they are so courtesy and respectful toward you and the light brights are rude in most of their stores and their action ticks down toward the staff in keeping the store clean, maintain, and courtesy in most Walmart store in Georgia they are rude and this is based. On who is the leader in the stores. If you shop in Publix, Krogers or any grocery store they are polite and kind, although out of the two they Publix is the highest of any store here or like Bakers in Omaha Nebraska, Now when we returned back to the store “ROOM TO GO” this year we did a different approach, we walked in the store separately and the Scottish guy approached us in the store, 4 blacks in Georgia looked at us and the guy sitting down with his shoes off looking at his phone didn’t even look up at us as we passed and he is the color of my tablet. The other 3 only watched us and once I caught up with my husband and grabbed him by the hands they all stood up, by now it was too late. They were watching me and checking to see where I was going and once they seen me grab his hand they stood up. You have to be here to understand that women and men like me go through this all the time. It is not something to make us feel better it the people in the world. We need to know they once we die we all will have to answer to God, and we have to treat people the same no matter what you may be thinking. A black man and a light brights skinned woman walking should speak to anyone passing them no matter the color of our skin. If a man of color can’t speak to a woman with melanated skin he is truly disrespectful towards his mom and this same condition is for any melanated skinned woman walking pass a man. The brainwashing is real….this is why most company have been failing so badly lack of training and skills, before I became a manager I had to be brief and skilled with the knowledge of human beings. Once this is gone the company fails badly,,,,,,``it is not a streamline condition because of the way a person skin complexion is or the person who is assisting them. It has a lot to do with the investment of teaching your staff how to conduct themselves with people. And that’s lacking in the last 30 years.. the gentleman in the story, the light bright who is from the origin melanin skin is not as strong as the man standing before him he should have known who the owner of this establishment is he didn’t know that that is the fault of the company or the person who hired him is much deeper than that and that’s the problem with us in our world we don’t want to really detail the requirements because we want to hurry up and get to the point because of wanting to have something done fast…. The birth of a child takes nine months to learn how to walk take some children again 9 to 10 months maybe more to teach a child how to go to the potty take some time to teach children how to take time. To understand your Bible takes time. The bottom line is the true essence of our growth is like growing a field of corn. It takes time so you have to go out of your way to train and teach the people who are representing you. That’s why as a manager back in my day we were train diligently computer, computers, and all this other crap seems to have taken over the mind which is the best computer in the world. This is why people who used the navigational system. Let me go there one time at this age. I will find myself there the second time without it I rather use my mind because my mind is going to allow me to love my people, and I love everybody. My mind is going to allow me to be respectful, courteous, thoughtful, considerate, helpful, understood, and understand we’re missing so much as human beings on this earth with how we actually treat each other. Who can you blame for this? The media parents where we work at stores that we go into just overall I’m talking about human beings. A person would treat a dog better than they would treat treat a human being parts of America and all over the world. We have human beings with children sleeping on the streets so this is not just a Store issue. This is an unconscious awareness that people really don’t wanna talk about Which is how human beings as a whole is treating each other and the one power that sees it all is God. In our Bible, it tells you one thing but what happens here on earth because people are so afraid of being excluded what’s wrong with being excluded? God says does don’t celebrate pagan holidays honor the Sabbath Push an unruly child when they become a certain age out of the home so they can learn how to get back up after you taught them how to get up see this is such a universal thing that even people who walk around in America and other places, utilizing freedom of speech, doesn’t necessarily mean you’re supposed to say anything that comes to your mind>. Our world is missing with God did point out to us even in the Bible we’re hating each other for no reason in the world we’re disappointing each other for no reason in the world we think because a person who have big is a dollar in the bank account is Living better than us they don’t Every day they wake up. They have to receive that admiration to make them feel special put them in a room by themselves, they will suffer the consequences of their actions. We need to get it together down here. We need to treat each other like we’re supposed to treat each other and I pray whomever is reading this can fully understand What I’m saying and don’t take it personal my husband like to say I think deep because I’m looking at what you don’t wanna face and what you don’t really want to understand because that would allow you to add something else to your agenda to become better as a human being ……. It is not the richest of money that make the world go around cause even people who have the richest sometimes have never left their country to venture out because of fear people and people having babies make the world go round God bless the readers.🙏🏾🙏🏿🙏🏽🥹💯🌍🩸🤔

Many times it is better to be the one with the least amount spoken because actions speak louder than words . I am in agreement that the video was wise , however many comments were logical
There is always another manner in which we can deliver our message when we are mistreated or over looked or shunned. I have had more than one occasion to act negatively about the manner in which l was or have been treated . I have found that you win when you do not bite the bullet but step back cool down then proceed to look for upper management to assist in the matter this then brings the employee into the conversation and at that moment you have just pulled the covers off of maybe more than one person who feels the same way abd you did not have to do or say much because the proof was standing right there in front of the manager and the plus was you were able to listen watch and see just who was guilty and who was willing to apologize and who would correct the wrong behavior leaving it all between the two as you step back and observe the dynamics! You walk out smelling like a rose as they attempt to understand just what occurred . Well you left them with the issue and they learned that you were not going to stoop to their level but make them do self inventory on their actions as you move on to upper management to report what just transpired as you attempted to shop. A large sale produces rapid change and also speaks volumes about you as an individual, why? Because you did not go down to their level so that could say you were rude and disrespectful! You have greater gain and satisfaction when you rise up above and beyond the incident why? Because you gain respect when you present yourself out of the norm that prejudice people have established regarding persons of color wisdom teaches us that you never let anyone judge you by the color of your skin nir your actions nor you verbal comments ! You always hold the place of dignity, why because you have now set in a place a solid foundation of truths versus what may have occurred previously by another person of color in this manner the statement cannot be made truthfullyThey all act a like and l knew this would happen once they came into our store but by rising up above the situation you just debunked their preconceived ideals . So now who is and was the winner from the beginning you are because they not only lost a sale but a future customer
And negative publicity all this is finances lost not gained, so if you desire to get someone back you hit their pockets not their attitude at that moment then you proceed to bring a suit against that store management & employee. When you hit where the money is that is when immediate change takes place ! You have now not only justified yourself but anyone else of color, and the benefits that you may obtain will be well the worth of you bring wise and cool headed with a smile all the while you are setting them up & that and they do not did not see that coming until It took place so who is the wise one here and who has much to gain in this particular situation? Stop and think before you speak you can gain much by being the intelligent one because most of the time we are prejudged with negative thoughts !!
I hope this brings some insight on a touchy subject but a wise decision on a profitable outcome

This is ONE BIG reason why I do more online shopping for certain things like luxury items etc because I refuse to have anyone disrespect me; it shouldn’t come to this, but it has gotten worse. The media and smash and grab not helping.

This was a great example of undercover bosses! My heart goes out to people who suffer from prejudice treatment. Are these pictures actually the ones from the incident or a reenactment? BTW, I have experience the same thing in stores...it's deplorable!

Boy this so reminds me of the time I walked into Macys and I saw this beautiful silver fox fur coat. It cost $1,100. I asked to try it on and the lady didn’t want to unlock the coat. She was very rude and told the other woman working there not to unlock it. I was wearing torn jeans and a tee shirt as I was just stopping to pick up something for my girls. I told the lady that I wanted the coat and that I’d be right back. I heard her tell the lady she worked with that I would not be back. I went home and got the money from my piggy bank at home plus any tax money. I went back and it was the other woman who helped unlock the coat and I tried it on and bought it and she told the lady that refused to help me. The next day I went to Macys main office and I told them who the lady was. I pointed her out as the man manager pulled the woman aside and told her to get her belongings and she was terminated. As if I couldn’t afford the coat and both my mixed race children with me.

Sorry but after John’s first visit, he should have sent someone else in the store. Honestly when he came in the next day, for the third time, I kinda would have been suspicious also. Note that I’m a black man.
