    Reading about this incident made me reflect on my own assumptions and actions. Captain Johnson’s story is a profound example of resilience and leadership. It’s not just about calling out discrimination but also about turning these moments into meaningful lessons. Let’s take this as a reminder to treat everyone with respect and fairness, regardless of their appearance or background.

      I totally disagree because why do Blacks always have to use this as a reminder when it should be the White being reminded to treat all people with respect and fairness. This mess is enough. Start teaching yourself and your child or children to love and respect others, start interacting with other people, and start showing some love. And make a video with the White being treated unfairly then I might use it as a teaching method and let the Whites get over it.

      @@spenceryoung5147 Of course it happens all the time. There are over 330 million people in the United States, and not all of them are nice people. Some people ARE racists. But fictional stories like this do nothing other than stir the pot and make people angry - not at someone who actually DID something, but at a made-up story. It gets people angry, not at an injustice, but at a fictionalized injustice. And not at specific individuals who have behaved abominably, but at a whole race of people who are REPRESENTED in the story. There was a similar story that I came across last night. In each of the accounts, there is entirely too much detail - things like what people were thinking, their facial expressions, or accounts of multiple conversations that no one would be privy to.
      I worked as a pilot for a major airline for just about three decades. I’m not by any means saying that there were never any racial issues during that time at my airline, but I never once encountered one, and I don’t remember ever hearing of any. I worked with pilots of other races, and there was never any issue for either of us. Ever.
      I think we need to learn to value the progress that has been made, and to encourage it to continue and get even better. I went to a high school in Detroit that was 50/50 black/white, and believe it or not, with virtually no exceptions, we all got along. Because the school was a magnet school, virtually all the students WANTED to be there, had good attitudes toward education, and about each other, and had supportive parents. And we all lived under the same rules. I found the same thing in the military and at my airline. If we stop FOCUSING on race, stop elevating victimhood, have the same rules for EVERYONE, and have a mission that everyone can get behind, it’s amazing how many problems start to go away. And the more of us that learn that race is not an important issue that needs to divide us, the easier it will be to deal with the relatively small percentage that haven’t learned that yet.

    Complete BS story. None of it is how seat assignments work and flight attendants don’t move passengers around. A flight attendant would also not ask to see a first class passengers boarding pass as she would have a boarding report with each passengers name, seat assignment and travel priority. The FA would have instantly known he was deadheading crew member. If there was in fact an overbooking which is not done in first class deadheading crew members are the first to be moved. The entire story is so fictitious as to be laughable.

    • @pcowdrey
      @pcowdrey หลายเดือนก่อน +10

      I agree. Story is moving, but too "perfect". The first thing that made me doubt the story was that "Captain Marcus" had not been a part of the preflight briefing and secondly, I'm pretty sure that "Captain Chen" did not have the authority to reassign himself in this situation. He was the assigned Captain and that could not be changed on a whim. Further, (I don't remember the departure point, but) a simple cross country flight to Los Angeles does not require a relief pilot. This story is BS. Not even a nice try.
      I agree with the sentiments but the story doesn't ring true. I'm calling bull shit and I'm giving the video a thumbs down. Patrick Cowdrey, Central Point, Oregon.

    • @pcowdrey
      @pcowdrey หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      More BS emerged as the video continued. The narrator says that "some students in the back of the plane heard the initial conversation". That's absolute BS. You could never hear a conversation that far away in that acoustic environment even without the ambient sounds of other people's conversations. From first class, all the way to the back of the cabin? More bull.
      I agree- the kind of discrimination spoken of here should never take place. Neither should bullshit stories. Like this. This is a political video. Patrick Cowdrey, Central Point, Oregon

    This story is a good start for all Americans to understand the challenge some of us still experience to this day. The color of your skin still matters, your race still matters, your birth place still matters. Working for the airlines for over twenty five years, you can find a very challenging situation almost daily. It creates a very unsafe work place. Standard company policies and procedures , federal laws and guide lines, and even union membership laws do not even address the problem at hand. To foster and apply all the necessary measures to protect all of us in time of injustice that any member experience is just to follow the law and implement a true concept of valuing each individual as an asset in our pursue of the ever challenging American Dream. That is my opinion as a brown skin man of fifty five years of being a proud American naturalized citizen.

      @@helenlauer9545 I’m sure it is. But look at how a fictional story like this gets people riled up unnecessarily. They don’t get angry about someone’s unacceptable behavior. They get upset because of a fictional STORY someone told. Getting people riled up does nothing to advance the cause of eliminating racism.
      We’ve gotten so worked up as a society over injustices that we have gone to the other extreme where we think that reverse racism or sexism are justified to “make up” for injustices in the past. We even condemn people for having the same skin color as people a century or two ago who were active racists. And we’ve followed that trend when it comes to sexism. I can understand how difficult it is to be judged by the color of your skin, because we’ve pretty much gotten to the point where most people consider the lowest of the low to be white males of European descent. You’re considered guilty and to be a horrible person simply on the basis of how you were born. I can understand those who are minorities and have experienced mistreatment saying, “So now YOU know how it feels!!!” But you’re saying that not to someone who you know is guilty of racism, but rather to someone who is simply of the “wrong” race or sex. Reverse racism does nothing to improve the situation. It just makes more people angry and resentful - and many will be likely to develop attitudes that move us back in the wrong direction. Let’s do what we can to treat others as individuals who should be judged (in the good sense) on their character and behavior, not on their race or sex.

    I am a retired airline captain.
    This story is total rubbish

      The story reflects the issue of race in USA anything is possible in this country. Like the lady in this story; I thought naturally is a racist but she failed miserably and exposed herself - self-inflicted lady.

      @rudyjakma3664 I would have thought that a retired airline captain, you would have recognized this "rubbish" as fiction by young writers trying to show racism in their own way.

      @pentispy you have a good point but I have flown with black first officers who later were upgraded to captain
      Here is Europe I am satisfied that they were treated with all the respect according to their rank.
      And cabin crew know the identity of other positioning crew members.
      More so a captain can never just yield his position to a colleague at the point of departure.
      Only in case of a serious incident like incapacitation. I don't want to expand further on this platform

    Beautiful story. Yes it is based on events but in truth. We are all human and molded by our life's experience, good and bad. We need to see a person's heart and not the appearance. ❤ when hearts recognize there is unity. I have been in places no white person, yet alone a woman would go. Though a Christian a sister in a Moslem world. Your actions make a difference. Giving people time to think and change. Just a tiny seed to think and change will make your heart soar and world unite.

    All of these stories are fictional ones that are supposed to have a moral. People, even if they know its fictional, like or dislike them based on how they fill about the moral.

    We did not choose the colour of our skin, why judge by the colour of ones skin, when is this going to STOP. We are all creation of the almighty, be it black, green or yellow. Dont judge.

    This is another one of those videos - that is not really a video - where they take 40 minutes to tell a three minute story. They make up the story and waste your time. Definitely thumbs down.

      You can't fathom horror stories about White America. This is about POC that can't even have civil rights. Without people like you bothering them because you feel uncomfortable because of the status they hold.

    I'm mixed blood , I only ever booked business class or first class.
    I have to say the only difference is the food and slight leg room..
    Recently, I visited the middle East ELAL business and returned economy seat 21 which had plenty of leg room.
    From now on unless I'm travelling on a flight that's more 5 hours it's going to be economy its not worth the money. ELAL business was £3,567 one way 😂
