Kevy, I have both Karve’s in brass and stainless, I love both of them. I shave BBS every day and ONLY use the B plate. It’s very very efficient when performing 3 passes. There’s a thinking in our community that you’re only a MAN if you use a d or e plate or shave with a R 41 blindfolded! GO BOIL YOUR HEAD!! Most men could and should shave with a milder razor especially shaving every day. I’m from Mediterranean extraction and have a fairly tough beard, the B plate does it for me every time. Great shave as always. Stay safe. 👍🏼
I, like you, am not a man, as I prefer milder razors. I have shaved blindfolded with the R41 and it went really well. I'm not a fan of aggressivecrazors on my nice soft Scottish skin. 😂 Cheers. Kevy 👍
Great shave, Kevy. I have the Karve C.B. brass razor. I shaved yesterday with it. I love it. Guess I['ll have to dig the rabbit hole a bit deeper and spring for the stainless steel version. Hey nothing wrong with 20 or 30 years. I'm still shaving with the razor I learned to shave with from Dad, his 1959 Gillette Fat Boy. Have a great and safe week.

That bowl is the perfect implement for lather building. Its dimpled, inner wall not only imparts vast friction, the tiny inclusions aerate the soap at the same time. This, along with the best water available made this small amount of soap explode. I would be as bold to say that it is the best lather bowl currently in your den. Impressive well beyond belief. The razor? it is beautiful in stainless. Like you, I cannot stand the smell of onset tarnish with brass. I can't reason having to buy separate base plates if I desired a lesser, or more efficient shave. It is probably why I would prefer the Rockwell 6S to the Karve. I know this will rattle many plumes of feathers, but if Karve offered the variance in gap I would definitely be interested. I smiled when I saw the blade chosen was a Voskhod. Manny and I were discussing that blade at length recently. I need to revisit them. Luckily I have one tuck left. The brush performed very well, almost differently than in other episodes. It may very well have been the bowl. At any rate, all went well this session. As always, thank you for sharing and the great feature of the Karve for those who have entered the Wolfman type of waiting list. Good evening Kevy! The Karve shaving soap lathered nicely...your lathers are simply amazing. I sort of wish I waited for the Karve Stainless Steel, but only with the eye to ease of maintenance. I have to scrub the brass with toothpaste and a toothbrush after each use. It is my OCD...something about Naval service and bright work. Brass must gleam!!!! The shave from the Karve CB razors with a C plate are superb. I know I enjoy mine. I think a lot of shavers have trouble with the corners of the mouth. Partly due to the creases/folds in the skin and partly because the growth swirls there. Soon, I will get to shave with that icy cold Scottish water. I will depart Kansas in 8 days. Great shave Kevy! Hey Kevy ... Karve, C plate and Feather blade is ultimate combo for me. Voskhod is a mild blade. Great for harsher razors of which the Karve is not. Karve can tame a feather ....
I think I'm going to order a B plate for me. I find the C very smooth but when I go against the grain with it, it sometimes causes the weepers to appear. B plate feels really nice going ATG. Cheers. Kevy 👍

I am 30th on the waitlist as of today. Went with a 3in handle and C solid bar plate. I am also getting the stainless steel stand for it. I already own the brass CB with both C and B open comb plates. Terrific razor, plus it's made in my country 🇨🇦 !!! Fantastic shave Kevy!!
I'm not sure what impressed me more, that soap or that new stainless steel razor. The razor is a beauty and the soap generated tons of thick lather. Wow. Great job, Karve.
I received my Stainless Steel Karve Christopher Bradley safety razor on the 29th of July. I chose the 3" handle, SB-C, SB-F, OC-C and OC-F plates and also got the Inkwell stand. I also like the scent of the Semois Valley soap sample. Have you ever tried Tabac soap? If so does Semois Valley smell anything like it?
I have tried Tabac. To me, Semois valley doesn't smell anything like that. Semois valley has a very sweet smell and it's more along the lines of pipe tobacco, very nice. Cheers. Kevy 😀
Just watching this again Kevy!! Great video!! I have the karve Stainless with plates B, C & D. A great razor. I have quite a sharp jaw line and the only razor I can run down my cheek and over the jaw line on to my neck in one stroke is my 6S....even on the 6 plate. It also has to be the most blade friendly razor I have. I still have just the 28 razors and am still trying them all out with different blades, soaps, brushes etc; to find that perfect shave. Apart from the 6S I have a Razorock BBS, •84 Gamechanger closed, •68 Gamechanger open, a Lupo •72 and the Lupo dual comb. An AS-D2, A Blackbird, masamune and Nodachi, Rex Envoy, 3one6's in Stainless and Red, Outlaws standard and mild, karve Stainless, Braveheart, Rocca, Parker Variant, Q-shave Futur copy and the 34c, R89 & DE89. Also a couple of others that aren't really worth a mention. If I had to keep just one I'm pretty sure it would be the 6S. I haven't had a bad shave with it whatever blade I use!! I had the brass one with B & D, and open comb B. I found the B too mild and the D too aggressive. Now have the Stainless with C and it’s the sweet spot for me.
I'm on the Karve waiting list, and it so happens that I'm ordering the same handle length and plate that both you and Michael Freedberg have. That soap looks fantastic and it must feel great too. Hope to get that same sample in my order, which I really cannot wait to get my hands on.
That Razor has a Beautiful weight and balance to it I can testify to that!. I believe that Karve have produced the Razor in one other material. I have a little pack of that soap definitely time to give it a spin. Never had a bad shave with the CB, This week has all been about that Scottish cold water rinse, very invigorating.
What a lather, great soap. Combined with a Karve, what btr can it be? I was daring to add an F-baseplate open comb with 1.23mm gap to my Karve n expected a beast. But not, its similar comfortable as C or D in closed comb. The result of this OC is well in the R41 range, where the latter is a beast. Cheers fm the lion city.

So...... Voskhod in my Karve is hands down the best shaving razor I own, it’s like you read my mind with this shave. Awesome review Kevy..... I’m totally lusting over the SS, I’ll have to sell some stuff to grab one I reckon.
I saw Penny Whistle!.................... Tip: When I have a product that is almost exhausted. I make certain the cap is on tightly and leave the bottle sitting upside down. Then it is easy to dispense the dregs. This is also good for substances that may dry up when there is more air inside the bottle and allows for maximum product usage. If I wasn't so poor I probably wouldn't have discovered this trick...

Hallo, i use the same setting as you. I tried the Karve as an upgrade with plate a and b and came not close to the Rockwell. The A on the karve lets my beard in the face and the B is not as efficient as the rockwell 3 but a little more rough for me. last week i ordered the C for the Karve, lets see how it will do..... I got the Karve brass secondhand with "C" & "B" plates. (First pass with the "C", then the rest with the "B") . Such a smooth, efficient razor. I am working my way up the wait list for the stainless. A 3" handle on my brass but will get a 3.5" handle for the stainless, as it will likely be the ideal length. I bought plain witch hazel and put in 6 different essential oils. Love the feel and scent of it. You probably had been asked about it, but have you tried or considered trying skin stretching while shaving? I feel I get closer with reduced risk of nicks.
Sounds like the brass Karve is working for you. I used to stretch the skin but I feel I get just as close shaves now from not doing it. Cheers. Kevy 😀👍
Hey man, glad to see you try out the SS CB! I have had the brass for a while and love it. I keep wanting to get the SS, but I may just let that be something I keep from myself since the Brass one is so nice and I have so many plates for it. Have to show some restraint some time, right? I also like that 3.5 handle. I think it balances the razor just right. Until you can get the B, you may want to play around with some other blades in that C plate because another one might not bite you like that Vosh did. Also, I just did my 203rd shave with that Nacet and it is still going! Best to you!
I really like he SS Karve. I do think the C plate is very good but maybe just a tiny bit too aggressive for my personal taste, especially for me, going against the grain. I'll get round to ordering a B plate and play around with different blades in it for now. 203? 😲👏👏
Great shave, Kevy! I also watched your 6S vs the brass version and your hybrid video. I have a brass one on the way and am on the wait list for stainless (seems I may be in for a long wait... hence the brass order). I’m really curious how this will perform against the 6S. I would really like to see you do this video with the Nacet blade (or even Personna Reds or GSBs). The Voskhod’s didn’t work too well for me. As always, I love your videos!
I know that the 6S is your favorite razor. It is mine as well at the moment. But, so much buzz around the Karve and how it is actually better (couldn't even imagine that). Once you get the B plate, would be interested in your verdict between the two razors. I also waited to see if a stainless steel version of the Karve would tempt me and would be on the lookout to join the list if you think it beats the 6S.
The Karve is a smoother shaver but I find the Rockwell 6 plate shaves better than my Karve D-OC. The F plate on the Karve gives a similar shave to the Rockwell R6 for me. The brass Karve and Rockwell are my all time favorite razors. I use the Polsilver blades.
Thanks for the review. I have been looking forward to a review of the CB stainless. I think this is the first one! Perhaps the smoothness of the razor lulled you into a false sense of security on this occasion. I perceive that you were shaving faster than you typically do. I am surprised that Karve didn't ship you two baseplates for review. I really want to know your opinion of the B plate. Voshkod's have a reputation for qc issues too. So, it might have just been that 1 blade made on a hangover monday by Boris in St Pete. I love the Myrsol Emulsion, but it contains paraben. I really wish they would remove the paraben from their product line. It goes for around $34.00 in the USA. At that price, I really want the carcinogens left out. I'm going to make up my own post shave based on the Myrsol emulsion post shave feel. I have the glycerine. Still need to get lanolin, liquid lanolin, aloe, menthol, and witch hazel to experiment with.

Hallo, i have both. With the Rockwell i prefer Plate 3 and for the Karve i ordered A and B. This plates do not outperform the Rockwell not with comfort nor with efficency. I now ordered the Karve C , lets see...
Nice video. Now you only need to try the open comb....I like it so much that I haven't tried the closed..... and w a Nacet. These Voskhod have too drastic variability.... probably depends on how drunk Boris/Ninishka were that day.....

Nicely done Kevy, great shave💈💈 I have the original Karve CB and use the C plate exclusively, wonderful shaver👌 Yeah brass can tarnish if left unattended, but it can be polished up. Never noticed any foul scent from brass, my nose may not be able to detect it🤔 Mountains of lather there, I'm guilty of the same sometimes😊 Super video and review. Enjoy!

Kevy is there any chance you could make your videos more extreme? Maybe shaving while driving or shaving while talking to a random person in the middle of the street. Maybe shaving a policeman without their consent. Then you could have a whole series like- shaving in a police car- shaving in court- shaving a judge without asking- shaving other inmates- being denied parole for shaving the parole officer. You could then do drive by shavings in your local area.
All shaving videos seem to star men with smooth, unwrinkled necks. Some of us old guys, whose neck looks more like a Shar-Pei Puppy, would love to see a shave video involving sagging skin that needs to be pulled back over the top of the head. Oh well. :)
Great review but don’t you seriously think that our grandfathers would just fall down laughing at the way we go on about a razor after all it is basically what they used and would probably told us to get a life or away and have a shave.
Maybe they would, but then again maybe not. Remember, you're talking about the same generation that had the best razors ever made available to them, the Gillette Fatboys, Slim Adjustables, Super Speeds and Techs - and they're still the best razors now, with the Karve possibly joining their ranks. They knew their razors as well.
It is too late for Karve Razors because Rockwell is killing it with 6s and Rockwell has good price point as well. They should come up with different new innovation. Maybe Karve should make Adjustable dial razor. I am saying because there is not much high quality adjustable dial razors in tye market. Rockwell could not the Model T. Thank you

Michael, I have been led to believe that the open comb B should be fairly close to the smooth bar C. Is this not the case?
First Name Last Name I would say B open comb is equal to D straight bar. I definitely find the C plate milder

That Razor has a Beautiful weight and balance to it I can testify to that!. I believe that Karve have produced the Razor in one other material. I have a little pack of that soap definitely time to give it a spin.
Never had a bad shave with the CB,
This week has all been about that Scottish cold water rinse, very invigorating.
Paul, To date the CB has been made in brass and stainless steel (316L, I believe). There are rumors of a titanium version in future.

What a lather, great soap. Combined with a Karve, what btr can it be? I was daring to add an F-baseplate open comb with 1.23mm gap to my Karve n expected a beast. But not, its similar comfortable as C or D in closed comb. The result of this OC is well in the R41 range, where the latter is a beast. Cheers fm the lion city.

Great razor, lots of beautiful lather for 16 passes :) and yeah I've the same problem in the corners of my mouth when I over shave and specially with new blades.

Tip: When I have a product that is almost exhausted. I make certain the cap is on tightly and leave the bottle sitting upside down. Then it is easy to dispense the dregs. This is also good for substances that may dry up when there is more air inside the bottle and allows for maximum product usage. If I wasn't so poor I probably wouldn't have discovered this trick...

Hallo, i use the same setting as you. I tried the Karve as an upgrade with plate a and b and came not close to the Rockwell. The A on the karve lets my beard in the face and the B is not as efficient as the rockwell 3 but a little more rough for me. last week i ordered the C for the Karve, lets see how it will do.....

I got the Karve brass secondhand with "C" & "B" plates. (First pass with the "C", then the rest with the "B") . Such a smooth, efficient razor. I am working my way up the wait list for the stainless. A 3" handle on my brass but will get a 3.5" handle for the stainless, as it will likely be the ideal length.
I bought plain witch hazel and put in 6 different essential oils. Love the feel and scent of it.
You probably had been asked about it, but have you tried or considered trying skin stretching while shaving? I feel I get closer with reduced risk of nicks.

Hey man, glad to see you try out the SS CB! I have had the brass for a while and love it. I keep wanting to get the SS, but I may just let that be something I keep from myself since the Brass one is so nice and I have so many plates for it. Have to show some restraint some time, right? I also like that 3.5 handle. I think it balances the razor just right. Until you can get the B, you may want to play around with some other blades in that C plate because another one might not bite you like that Vosh did. Also, I just did my 203rd shave with that Nacet and it is still going! Best to you!
I really like he SS Karve. I do think the C plate is very good but maybe just a tiny bit too aggressive for my personal taste, especially for me, going against the grain. I'll get round to ordering a B plate and play around with different blades in it for now. 203? 😲👏👏

Great shave, Kevy! I also watched your 6S vs the brass version and your hybrid video. I have a brass one on the way and am on the wait list for stainless (seems I may be in for a long wait... hence the brass order). I’m really curious how this will perform against the 6S. I would really like to see you do this video with the Nacet blade (or even Personna Reds or GSBs). The Voskhod’s didn’t work too well for me. As always, I love your videos!

I know that the 6S is your favorite razor. It is mine as well at the moment. But, so much buzz around the Karve and how it is actually better (couldn't even imagine that). Once you get the B plate, would be interested in your verdict between the two razors. I also waited to see if a stainless steel version of the Karve would tempt me and would be on the lookout to join the list if you think it beats the 6S.

The Karve is a smoother shaver but I find the Rockwell 6 plate shaves better than my Karve D-OC. The F plate on the Karve gives a similar shave to the Rockwell R6 for me.
The brass Karve and Rockwell are my all time favorite razors.
I use the Polsilver blades.
How agressive is plate c?
For me,it feels similar to plate 5 on the Rockwell 6S, maybe even a tiny bit more blade feel. Kevy 🙂

Perhaps the smoothness of the razor lulled you into a false sense of security on this occasion. I perceive that you were shaving faster than you typically do.
I am surprised that Karve didn't ship you two baseplates for review. I really want to know your opinion of the B plate. Voshkod's have a reputation for qc issues too. So, it might have just been that 1 blade made on a hangover monday by Boris in St Pete.
I love the Myrsol Emulsion, but it contains paraben. I really wish they would remove the paraben from their product line. It goes for around $34.00 in the USA. At that price, I really want the carcinogens left out. I'm going to make up my own post shave based on the Myrsol emulsion post shave feel. I have the glycerine. Still need to get lanolin, liquid lanolin, aloe, menthol, and witch hazel to experiment with.

Nicely done Kevy, great shave💈💈 I have the original Karve CB and use the C plate exclusively, wonderful shaver👌 Yeah brass can tarnish if left unattended, but it can be polished up. Never noticed any foul scent from brass, my nose may not be able to detect it🤔 Mountains of lather there, I'm guilty of the same sometimes😊 Super video and review. Enjoy!

The smell of brass depends on the persons skin chemistry, ever the oils react with the brass.
I also get no smell from my brass Karve.

The razor is beautiful but they should redesign the top cap so the overhang is not that much, love my Game Changer .84, zero overhang.
Some of the machinable alloys of brass contains lead - which is nasty and as you say it got a certain smell
MrUlski, I hate to say it, but if I had a brass razor that I liked, I would seriously consider having it plated in rhodium.

Kevy is there any chance you could make your videos more extreme? Maybe shaving while driving or shaving while talking to a random person in the middle of the street. Maybe shaving a policeman without their consent. Then you could have a whole series like- shaving in a police car- shaving in court- shaving a judge without asking- shaving other inmates- being denied parole for shaving the parole officer. You could then do drive by shavings in your local area.
I clean my razors and blades after every shave and dry off immediately before putting away.
All shaving videos seem to star men with smooth, unwrinkled necks. Some of us old guys, whose neck looks more like a Shar-Pei Puppy, would love to see a shave video involving sagging skin that needs to be pulled back over the top of the head. Oh well. :)

Maybe they would, but then again maybe not. Remember, you're talking about the same generation that had the best razors ever made available to them, the Gillette Fatboys, Slim Adjustables, Super Speeds and Techs - and they're still the best razors now, with the Karve possibly joining their ranks. They knew their razors as well.

It is too late for Karve Razors because Rockwell is killing it with 6s and Rockwell has good price point as well. They should come up with different new innovation. Maybe Karve should make Adjustable dial razor. I am saying because there is not much high quality adjustable dial razors in tye market. Rockwell could not the Model T.
