The Rockwell 6C has been my go-to for the last couple of years. I've had my eye on the Karve since and finally bought one last month. Sold it after working with A-C plates. I prefer the Rockwell because it's smoother, just as efficient, and the sweet spot is wider. I prefer the 30 degree shave angle and price of the 6C, too. Razor and all three plate for $50.
@@peterkaufmann8579 Agreed. It cuts like crazy, but for me, it's not practical due to the narrow sweet spot. The owner says to "ride the cap" more due to the cutting angle. That's am awkward technique for me, so yeah, not interested.
@@dovshaves In terms of shaving experience thr Rockwell is really hard to beat at any price really. I agree it has a very odd angle compared to almost any other razor on the market which makes it an annoyance . However, I purchased the Karve Overlander recently and that’s a whole different beast. Fantastic razor
@@johnshaves1996 hey John, I'm seriously thinking about getting the Overlander, how does it shave compared to the RR GC. 84p or Lupo 72? I own both and the reason why I'm asking the Overlanders head looks similar in profile.
@@peterkaufmann8579 to me the blade feel is similar to the .72 Lupo. The Overlander feels more mild than the .84 GC in terms of face feel. Imho it feels a lot more smooth than the Razorock counterparts. The blade just feels super solid in the razor and angle is easy to find after using it for 2 shaves. I’d give it a shot for sure
Nice shave and comparison bro.👍🏾.. I want to buy a Karve razor with two plates, and want to know which of karve plates are equivalent to Rockwell 2 & 4 plates? Please advise.🙏🏾
Karve wins just by having a ton of more plates you can buy to customize the shave lol Although everybody loves the 6s too. If rockwell released a 7/8 plate and 9/10 plate for the 6s and 6c that would be huge imo. Karve can go all the way up to a G plate opencomb which is nuts.
First, two best razors on the market. Everyone who loves DE safety Razors should own both of these razors. The Karve CB and Rockwell 6c and 6s are in the TOP TIER of DE safety razors, the S tier. That said the Rockwell 6c and 6s are the Holy Grail of safety razors. The rockwell beats the Karve CB on shave and price hands down.
Also take into consideration what side of your face you’re shaving with your dominant hand. I’ve noticed certain areas are easier with my dominant hand. Great video though. Funny I have the Feather AS-D2 (my first DE) and was looking for something more aggressive and bought the Karve stainless 3” with the C plate
Great video. I have both razors and have for about a year. I've been DE safety razor shaving for 30 years, so have my technique fairly dialed in. For the better part of the last year, I would have agreed with your assessment and believed that the Rockwell delivered a closer, more efficient, smoother shave. However, in the last couple of months, something just clicked with the Karve and I'm getting the best, most efficient, smoothest shaves of my life with it. I've found that the Rockwell is an awesome performer and is really very forgiving of angle and accepting of a wide variety of blades choices, and also deals well with pressure inconsistencies...basically it's hard to mess up with it. I've found the Karve to be more finicky with what blades you pair it with, and much less forgiving of angle/pressure variations. I just think the Karve has a steeper learning curve but when you get it dialed in it's a Monster! I go back and forth between using the OC-C plate or the SB-D plate, and when I use the Rockwell, I use the 6 plate. Keep up the good work and happy shaving!
Nice comparison. If I had 1 complaint about the Rockwell it would be the fact that it is a bit cumbersome to get under the nose unless I’m going against the grain. Unfortunately I won’t be able to try a Karve since the ordering and shipping process is an atrocity.
I agree! I would rather them make more thinner plates with the same head geometry than double sided plates for that reason! Yeah man the waiting process was frustrating for many including myself
Great shave John! And haha yeah... I’m a bit of Karve fanboy, I’ve never actually tried the Rockwell, went right to Karve and the first shave sold me on it. That brush looks fantastic, I dig the classy looo to it, have yourself a great evening my friend!
Yeah you can’t wrong with it. I actually enjoyed using the A plate OC with it a while back so I’m still playing around with it! Yeah man I’ll probably keep this brush forever. Have a great night as well bro!
That was very comprehensive good job fam. Is a design really “better” if it’s not as efficient and doesn’t have as an accommodating angle? The new brushes look sick!
That was the knot from the red/peach handle?? Findings on the 6S vs. Karve were consistent with mine. Karve took the top spot mostly for looks and a tad more smoothness.
“The Real One” 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. Congrats on 100 my man! JR is the man. It’s interesting, I also noticed a big difference between C and D plates. I honestly think the Karve is an amazing razor. If they had a mirror polished one, I’d rock it! 🤣🤣🤣. Great video bro!
Haha thanks for watching brother! Of course you’d get the mirror finish 😂 😆. I prefer polished as well but it’s also annoying to maintain so it’s tricky for me to decide
My highest on plate on my SS Karve is the E SB.. So for efficiency I'd say the Rockwell 6 plate is equal to the Karve E. To get down to the last BBS on troubled areas when some buffing may be needed the Rockwell is much smoother than the E karve. The Karve E is definatly harder on your skin. There is no way you could get BBS with the G without being too hard on the face. If you dont care about BBS take your pick. Doesn't matter but if you go BBS every day as I do the Rockwell 6S or C blows the Karve away. Also the I'd rename the Karve CB to the Karve HR, standing for Head Rider. Lol. Cheers Brothers
Nice comparison bro! When I first got my Karve I was telling Jack that idk if the Karve was better. If anything I thought they were damn near identical in comfort and performance for me but the looks of the Karve made the real difference. The Rockwell is arguably a better value though. Those are my 2 cents.
Thanks brother! I agree 100% value goes to the Rockwell & looks goes to the Karve. I just happen to like the way the Rockwell shaves a little more. Thanks for watching
Karve has to make the price reasonable enough if they want to compete with Rockwell. Its just unnecessarily expensive also the price doesn't justify the quality of shave in my opinion
Rockwell is made in China which makes it a lot easier for them to keep the price down. Karve does everything in house. I feel they are competitively priced compared to some of the American/Canadian artisans out there for the quality. Purchasing several plates jacks up the price really quick! I do get a better shave from the Rockwell so there’s that. I recently purchased the Karve Overlander and I am loving it so far. Cheers
It’s very fair. They were the closest to each other in gap and exposure. The 6s is generally a mild razor. It wouldn’t be fair if I compared it to D, E, F plate etc. imo
Was really looking forwards to this comparison video, Karve vs Rockwell but for me it simply didn’t go far enough as the razors are only used to “trim around the edge”, this doesn’t count as a shave ...... totally pointless. Your videos could be up there with the best as you’ve described the razors well including the gap and exposure stats which many others miss off.
Did you watch the whole video? I shaved my neck where the hair grows in multiple directions for me where as it pretty much goes one direction and is less sensitive on my face. So I thought it could be evaluated just as well since it was closer to half my facial hair than just the edges. I’m sorry it didn’t bring you any value. Jack from the Virtual Groom Room did better comparison that you might find more useful. Thanks for watching
Why? He shaved his neck which is much harder than chin and jawline. There's no reason you have to shave your entire face to evaluate a razor. What a nonsensical thing to say.

It honestly depends on the plate . I found rockwell easier to dial in the angle . But both are pretty damn smooth on the lower plates
