The cut is called “Looking Into You,” and it’s the way the steel is being used that to me is so unique. As opposed to playing fills, the steel (which comes in about a third of the way into the track) is being used to for its sustain, loooong tones like a bed behind the vocals, the way violins are often used. Not only is Kenny Chesney a great performer with his own songs but he does something I appreciate so much when he does covers. And that is that he sings it like the original artist does.
