Rory is correct about Harry not doing enough to deserve his position but how on earth can he not conceed that Harry's status is not holding Garath Southgate to ransum. Everybody can see that Harry shouldn't be playing in this team and is pulling the team under. If you look at Saka's runs and cutbacks and Harry was just ambling nowhere near the box, he was back on his heels. Compare and contrast to the Netherlands who showed fantastic tenacity, energy and pace to get into the box. Sad.
The entire team seems to be holding Southgate to ransom. Bellingham flat out refused to come off and no I dont belive it was a mistake from the 4th official.

Totally agree. Kane has never been the quickest but he has always had energy and tenacity either dropping deep or playing forward pulling CB's here there and everywhere. Where as now he doesnt have that energy or aggression. I think he has got lazy playing against low block teams for Bayern. Literally letting players like Sane, Coman, Musiala, Gnabry doing all the running.

Nobody has really played well, and each player has only shown flashes of quality in the entirety of the tournament so far, Kane being no different. He has scored two crucial goals and put England through to the quarters, yet here you people are claiming he's pulling the team down.

Kane has cost England In the last 3 tournaments.. didn't square to sterling in semi vs Croatia to make it 2-0.. played awfully and missed a sitter v Italy amd then missed a penalty to.france. its astounding he's still playing for England.
Saka decided to go into "fine, i'll do it myself " mode and score an Arsenal style goal to draw against Switzerland. That's the outcome of not having your main goal scorer showing up in the box to receive crosses and passes.
Everyone knows that Kane will play every minute. Gareth is risk averse and won't do anything other than what he knows. Kane is too predictable and when it comes to England, the 'star names' always take precedent over what is right for the team. Until this changes, we can already predict the outcome of this tournament... Don't be surprised.
Spot on. It's a political selection too. Kane plays, we lose and there is no uproar. Imagine the outrage and blame if Kane is dropped and we lose. I think the best we can expect is Kane off after 75 mins.
Give Kane the first 45 minutes, but in the 2nd half of every game so far, he's been dead on his feet after 10 minutes of the 2nd half and Gareth waits until after the 80th minute to make a change.... Too long. Get Toney or Watkins on after half time and make the opposing defence work.
if you have Toney and Kane both up front, and Bellingham slightly behind, I cannot think of any team will be able to defend that, and Trippier(or walker) and Shaw keep crossing the ball from both sides

He's been outmuscled and can't hold the ball. Runs non-existant. No pace. Few touches. Maybe time to give him a partner to help out? Watkins doing his Villa channel runs on the left would help with the balance too. Kane won't be dropped, but there has to be acknowledgement that he's a shadow of himself.

I’ve previously defended Kane multiple times but it’s time that he gets dropped. He’s clearly tired and hasn’t got the energy. I’m not saying that Englands problems will solve by Kane getting benched, but Kane needs a rest. Trent needs to start as well.

Kane is usually too deep to be involved for the cutbacks that Saka was providing
He has to also create something and play his role. He has been ineffective in holding the ball and involving others. He needs a partner, he is not a threat alone.
A good striker will create chances, be in the right position or put away half chances. Kane does none of that

My only problem with it is Watkins touched the ball about 6 times in a pre tournament friendly and Tony didn't touch the ball against the swiss, its the style of play, the ball doesn't go forward anywhere near enough
What do you mean Toney didn’t touch the ball against Switzerland..? He won the throw in for the equalizer, and got the assist for the winner… the defence struggled to deal with him as a presence once he came on. As opposed to watching Kane walk around our midfield for 90 minutes before he came on

The 4 3 3 works if used effectively. Southgate was definitely discouraging attacking play on the front foot. It was negative from the start no creative runs or fluid play. This was exposed against Slovenia when Palmer and Gordon came on and it instantly changed yet slothgate didn’t take note and continued with the same team
My only concern playing Ivan Toney from the start is if he's needed for penalties Will he still be on the field at the end

There really isn’t enough time after the season end for the players to rest.. the quality has been very low.. there needs to be like one month break before these tournaments

Kane hasnt looked right all tournament and whenever he has any sort of issue he drops deeper and deeper into midfield. We dont need him playing there we have midfielders who can create, we need someone in position to finish the slim number of chances there have been.

It's a close run thing as to which is the bigger mystery: The fact that Harry Kane keeps getting picked to play every game in the Euros or that Rory Jennings has a career as a football pundit.
Harry hasn't played well but if going by rorys past saying to drop him means we got to keep him on
Offered more how? He practically didn't even touch the ball. Yet because the ignorant fans are baying for Kane's blood and want to make him a scapegoat, this is what we see.
Kane does look a little tired, granted. But what he offers is far more than Toney or Watkins, and he's also more clinical and more likely to score a chance when England need it, as has historically been the case. Kane's goal is the reason we even went through to play Switzerland. Also put us into the final in the last euros. Also qualified us for major tournaments on multiple occasions. A major tournament is not where you start playing new players and experimenting.

Kane has been poor in the friendlies and the past few tournaments. Starting slowly in the groups each tournament has become acceptable. Don't understand it. Commentators go out their way even to protect him. Appreciate he is the captain and it can impact the young players but objectively Kane does not fit into the system or previous system. Toney should have started last few games. Spurs played better football after Kane left to Bayern.
Under Mourinho, Kane dropping back worked with his assists. England setup needs a pacey poacher who will stay in box, be an outlet for midfield and run in behind the defence. 1st shot vs Swiss was by Saka (goal). No shots by main striker Kane. If it were any other player they'd not get anywhere near the team. The protection of Kane compared to other players is crazy and blatant. If England want to win the tournament then pick a player who functions in the system and not a bystander on the pitch. Southgate will not drop him
This has always been England's issue. The unwillingness of the coach to drop their 'big name but old captain' when he's so obviously past his prime.
Remember 2018 with Rooney? England were quick, fluid and lively when Rooney was injured in the qualifiers. The moment Rooney came back, the team dynamic changes. England became slow, predictable and unwatchable. The exact same thing is happening now.

Harry did reasonably well. If you observe well HK closes down the back line all by himself. Its only natural he tires out. Notice how when Toney comes in, he doesnt even bother to close down. As long as the rest of the group is not close to HK on his press he will tiee out. HK needs to start every game

@hithere9377 I watched all the games and every minute. You press as a unit. The entire team. There were too many times in the last 2 games I saw 1 striker against a back 3. Foden and bellingham needed to be blocking off the out ball, so no the press was rubbish

Very slow, no press, never in the box when needed, spent most of his time as a CDM, lost possession 10 times (that’s a fact). He just wasn’t that good. He has been brilliant for Bayern this season but it looks like he is tired or injured. Needs to be replaced or taken off at half time. I would love to see him finally win a trophy and as Captain of England would be epic but to do that him and Southgate need to have a very honest conversation.

It’s very simple, his style of play doesn’t suit the team. He gets into foden and Bellingham’s space, and when Kane gets the ball he has no one running onto his passes down the wing. Add his obvious lack of fitness and it’s clear Toney and Watkins should be in.

I've not seen Harry Kane outside of the Euros so forgive my opinion but he is 💩💩💩
Not happy with all this criticism. Gareth is a forward thinking manager and when we win the Euros, he will eventually get the job at United and show you all what you have been missing. Remember, he can get the best out of players. Harry Maguire, Scotty, Rashford, and Shaw. Gareth will get those players going again.
His record at club level is dismal. And he hasn't got the best out of any players.
He will get the best of everyone by playing defensive football, beating scrub teams and losing to every half decent side, which will likely mean regulation
