One air hose is the brake pipe and the other one is for the air dump.

I also purchased all three sets of these AutoFloods. They are really nice. Over the years I have purchased almost all of the Athearn RTR Union Pacific Bethgon Coalporters (the silver ones that match these Rapido cars). So, with these sets all together I have a train of about 80 UP coal cars. It's it cool to see but a little nerve-racking hoping they all stay on the rails!!! BYW, one air hose is for train line brakes and the other is for dumping the hopper.

A beautiful representation of the full scale. In my opinion worth every penny.

Nice review Daryl I also fallow the Union Pacific in Utah and the old Rio Grande we don't use bathtub gons out here all of our cars since 2015 are Trinity auto floods and RD4 discharge hoppers. Bathtub cars are used for hazmat and bulk transfer service of loads like tailings they are used on the Shafter Sub only and take ore concentrate and uranium tailings out to the smelter and to the uranium cell by Tooela. These cars need to be unloaded in a dumper and no facility in Utah has those only Valmy Power Plant has a dumper which is why some of these cars have yellow markings on the ends so bathtub gons can be hooked to them so they can be dumped. For the most part coal heads to Long Beach or to Valmy it does not go to Intermountain anymore that plant converted to natural gas so we don't see any bathtubs out here only auto flood.

Those look like really nice models. I am looking forward to getting my first batch from Spring Creek Model Trains *they have some exclusive roadnames, including Omaha Public Power)

True although I have not been impressed with the rolling characteristics of their cars.

Great unboxing and very nicely detailed cars. Did you get my message from the last video? Michael Tuinstra has had a TH-cam channel for years about his kids but in the last 2 weeks he has put out a group of videos on the UP in Wyoming, including: Sherman Hill, Harriman, Granite, Rock River, and Laramie. Thought you might be interested.

One hose is for the train, for stopping; and the other is for unloading since they are bottom unloaders. There is a handle on each car that is turned to open the bottom doors. I have seen five but never 8 doors. And I don't remember who makes the prototype. Some were made in Johnstown, PA, and if i remember right three different companies made them. And I still say the model train market is over priced. They make limited runs and set the price to keep them out of inventory, because inventory taxes eats into the bottom line. Still, nice looking cars in my estimation.

8:00 what would be the scaled weight? I recall seeing another modeler that does this.

For HO its 1 oz plus an additional 1/2 oz for every 1" of car length. These are 7" in length so 1+3.5= 4.5 oz

coal trains these days are mainly bethgons and/or rd4's. bathtubs are outdated so this is a good move 👍

I wonder how long until they’re completely sold out everywhere. I need all 18 BNSF and UP. Building 60 car trains for both roads

Great looking cars. Almost a shame to run them with loads.
