- Hi guys! Another busy week! Good progress on the 364 Nailhead for our 1959 Buick LeSabre project... the cam and heads go together this week; I'm very happy with it! We also tore into the power window hydraulic pump for Agent 7678's 1953 Oldsmobile 98, with some success...
Then: It's time for Dean's Greasy Flips, featuring this 1975 Pontiac Grand Prix!
Our 8mm film is back from the developer; I'll be including bits of it in the next several weeks' videos... Hope you enjoy these clips; I cropped them to fit this time. Special thanks to Niagra Film Labs in Toronto.
Thanks everyone who signed Laura's petition last week!

Hey, you have a brand new rotor winding. You looked at it when working on a starter for a car or the forklift. Still in the factory packing, but didn't know what it was from.
Nope, not forklift. You ended up ordering one.
Yes. in this one. It is notably shorter than the 51 Chev starter you compare it to.
Episode, "Will it Run? Episode 22: 1951 Chevy Bel Air! Part2"
Looking at the one for the pump, and comparing it to the video, it warrants a look.
And could you do me a huge favour?
In this episode, "First drive in 50 Years! "Will it Run?" 1951 Chevy Bel Air... Episode 22", you do a skit where you start out in orange coveralls, and slowly turn into "The President", and play a nasty little riff.
One of the best pieces of filmology you ever did, in my opinion.
Could you turn it into a stand alone video, or a short, perhaps?
Now you can do "historical" "Hinterland Who's Who " vignettes of the Northern Canadian Wild Franker's.
I've been watching CWM for about 4 years now, and of all the TH-cam channels I've found over the years this is the only one I NEVER miss. It's the only Saturday night 9pm (UK time) show worth watching.
👍😎👍
Hey thanks so much for following along! All the very best from me and Frankers...
Me too but I'm just south of you so it's 10:00 pm Paris time 😄
You'd be surprised at how many of us out there in the big ol' world that feel the exact same way. CWM is must see TV at my humble homestead. 5 years now and never miss an episode.
Here in Canada it's 5pm on saturday for me
It's a Sunday treat for me in NZ:)
Give Dean an academy award. There’s people who need writers for that stuff, and he’s just ad-libbing it.
Mark, the voice of calm and reason.
Another 5 minutes and Dean would have negotiated himself down to $750.00 . Nail head looks great. Thanks Scott , Dean and friends. Good luck Laura. Cheers
For $750 Canadian..,. If I lived in rural Alberta I would be definitely interested in that Pontiac. Dean is probably the most trustworthy salesperson ever.
@@stevemonkey6666 I have had the pleasure of meeting Dean / Scott and some of the agents and they are all very solid people.
Still my number one show...every one needs a friend like Tom & Dean and all the other agents..cheers...🥂
I have not seen a similar Olds 98 in many many decades.
I’m glad to see it being saved.
More progress on the '53 Olds and the '59 Buick makes this a mandatory watch for me!
Hope everything works out for Laura and family. Saturday wouldn't be the same without CWM. Cheers ✌️👍😎❤️
Dean's Greasey flip segway's are just getting so more professional now.
I think if Dean and Tom got together they could run the most profitable used car lot in history.
No doubt about wanting more of the 53' Olds. Dean is just contagious for humour!
That Olds is THE BOMB. Color is gorgeous and the wonky hydraulic windows are charmingly quirky. Sad to see how good our manufacturing capabilities once were vs now
Tied with the '59 Buick Le Sabre for my favourite among CWM's current projects. They are the 2 cars they're working on, which I am most impatient to see restored to their original condition. I paint in my spare time and might do a painting showing both a '53 Olds 98 and a '59 Le Sabre in the near future for that exact reason.
That 8MM footage with Frankers romping in front of the CWM lineup is a grand intro to this week’s endeavors. That nailhead is coming together nicely and I was awed at seeing the extensive power window hardware on Dan’s ‘98.’ Dean’s Grand Prix should have a new home shortly, given his savvy salesman’s skill set in peddling a rust perforated car with a mousy interior, lacking a power plant, and tranny, all small obstacles for “Dean, the Sellin’ Machine.”
whaddya mean "lacking a tranny"?? It's right there next to the tree. Somebody even went to the effort to have it rebuilt and painted! Or, at least painted....whoops, lost the receipts....🙄
I Wish Dean's Greasy Flips was a weekly occurrence! Love Fliptown!!!😎
Same as classic darts and classic tire lol
Inventory is moving so fast we need a weekly update.
Great show. The Twin Buick duel, Dans 88 and the Rover and the Citroen on deck, future Impala dreams and more. I enjoy dropping in each week.
Cheers all. 🇨🇦
I was certain that old pump/window motor was toast. Great save guys.
Hahaha! When I say Dean in the front of the Grand Prix asleep, then opening a beer, I thought I was watching a video of myself back in college. A treat to see the great work on both the engine and the motor for the windows on my birthday weekend! Cheers from Connecticut!
I hope the best for your sister ❤️
So glad you got to do the 8mm stuff. It’s a fun add to something we all already look forward to every week!
It can really fool you into believing it is from years ago. Love it!
best greasy flip yet!
Thanks! Glad you got a laugh... Cheers!
What can I say... you and the guys never disappoint. The air cleaner lid save was most impressive.. it looks great. Knowing how hard it is, I appreciate the time and effort you put into each episode. Cheers and all the best from the amateur in the shed.
Thanks Randahl! I'll keep at it if anyone wants to see. Cheers from the junkyard!
I've got a 350 pontiac for that grand prix! tell dean to come and get it! was running when pulled! 😀
Dean should have no problem unloading the Grand Prix. So happy to see that, relatively speaking, the nailhead went together so well for you. Looking forward to seeing those power windows work. Cheers everyone!
EXCELLENT paint job on the wildcat cover!!
It's a crime to ship lifters in a plastic bag. Glad you caught the problems. I will love seeing that big V8 roar to life. That Oldsmobile deserves a repaint. The color is beautiful. Dean presentations gets better and better. I enjoyed this video. Thanks.
"breakfast of Champions " I haven't heard that for a very long time. There's also a meal in every can.
My high school buddy bought a spotless 75 Grand prix from his parents in 1978 with the same color plus black vinyl landau roof. It was a wonderful car and the dash has real wood veneer, not photo vinyl looking like wood. Great to see one again. Thanks Dean!
Someone needs to save that Grand Prix!
yeah I imagine it could be restored to running condition and look much better with a bit of work - the interior is also absolutely gorgeous, I love the leather interior that's the same colour as the bodywork @@CharlesAtwell-or7bm
The black and white film actually makes the old cars in the lineup look presentable. The power window setup on that Olds is so cool. All that effort just to avoid window cranking. Thanks for another great show! Cheers!
Cheers Heather! Glad you're enjoying the old 8mm like I am! All the very best as always from me and Frankers...
Yes, big thumbs up for the Olds. And nice save on the Wildcat on the air cleaner. They are only original once.
That is one fine Oldsmobile. They were good looking then, and good looking now. They are the equivalent of the '53 Buick Roadmaster Riviera hardtop.
I'll bet the engineers of that starter thought ahead, and knew that motor would still work after 70 years of neglect😊
They really did care back then didn’t they?
I really hope Dan will restore that Olds. It's just a stunner.
I am really looking forwards to seeing both that and the Buick restored to original or near original condition
Another great video! Can't wait to hear the Buick engine come to life and to see the windows on the Olds work. They are really trippy when working. Thanks!
Thanks for another enjoyable hour - always something to look forward to on Saturday. I bought a ‘68 Dart from a hard nosed dealer like Dean - he told me on the phone the price was $400 and by the time I drove to his lot he talked himself down to $250! All the best to you, Frankers and all the agents, and I hope for the best for Laura and the farm. See you next week….
Great episode, Scott.
I hope things work out for Laura and Colin.
Dean's best flip yet!
love the greasy flips
You are correct Scott, new cars all look like total garbage. Cheers for another fun episode. 👍
So glad it's Saturday. The prognosis after Thursday's fire 🔥 is not good, but could've got much worse quickly. Smoke damage is the biggest problem, after some structural damage. The roof and siding are cooked. I hope the insurance pays out. 😮lol!
Hope everyone else is doing well. Uncontrolled fire 🔥 sucks!
Until Thursday, have a fantastic week everyone!
Nice opening shot Franker's! Such a Princess of the squirrel 🐿️ world!
Hey Robert! Hope you can get everything sorted soon; glad everyone is ok... All the very best from me and Frankers...
Tom in the house! Also something very satisfying watching u rattle can .
The air cleaner cover is the bomb. Another great week at CWM. I can’t wait for our first ride in the Buick. I know, I know, patience is a virtue, but I’m not that virtuous. Have a great week. See you Thursday!
The old Oldsmobile just needs a little TLC to bring her back to A1 condition
Breakfast beers with Dean !!! Dan's Oldsmobile was a beautiful car when it was new i would think. It seems that Laura's issue has a predetermined outcome, things like that endear our governments to us. It was a treat to watch " Rattle Can Restoration" with Scott. Best Wishes to everyone at Cold War Motors.
Lovin the vintage intro's.
If it wasnt on the other side of the moon for me to get there I'd buy that Grand Prix..
I've owned a few & I love em.
I like the 70's cars . Most dont , but its a bit of nostalgia for me.
I like 1970's cars as well, that "low wide and angular" look that a lot of car designers went for back then has its own charm. When done right it looks both sleek, sinister and elegant at the same time. The 1972 Chrysler Newport shown prominently during the end credits is a good example.
Deans greasy flips today was the best production so far!
I really like Dan's "53 Oldsmobile 98 Holiday! "A little ding, I don't care. They can deduct me"!....Like it's going to Pebble Beach! Love it! Also love the attention to details on assembly of the nailhead engine.....Better than a lot of shops!
NICE JOB taming the WILDCAT !
Thanks 4 a long vid..but thay allways go by so fast ..u got the best car show on utube..
A very snowy day in Calgary, a great excuse to crack an early beer and check out some CWM.
Scott is a rattle can Rembrandt!!!!
Dean, you are a class act
Can you imagine how it must of been to drive the Olds new off the lot, new? It's no wonder it was named Holiday! Awesome work guys!
welcome to best show on saturday !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Best part of my Saturday evening and experience is a great thing and enjoying the finished product is always the best part.
Dean is a quick change artist. Who would have known.. lol. Love those grand prix. Hilarious bit... thanks for the videos..
Ive talked to nailhead geeks that want 10k to build one and you are really making me rethink my plan for my 401. Definitely get us up to speed on Myles build and cant wait to hear yours fire up. Another great video!! Thank you!!
Buick/Olds/GM heaven episode! AND - Some new music? It's got a nice 60s feel.
Hey thanks... Glad you liked it... I thought it sounded doorsy too, haha... Cheers!
yeah it's a surprisingly GM-centric episode, I usually associate Cold War Motors with Mopars
That air cleaner turned out amazing. I think Scott need a Grand Prix daily driver.
Man I'm loving the old camera footage its just too cool.
Action-packed episode! Hygroscopic-phobia, and "Will it run?" with a vintage power window pump! "Operation" with a Buick camshaft! 455 Wildcats ,,, x 2! A beerful of cheerful at Honest Dean's abused cars! Just your average episode from CWM. Which is why we love it.
That’s 445 which is the torque rating I think. Really a great show isn’t it?
Just amazed with the air cleaner. Well done sir. I’m glad you took the effort to save that. Cooler than anything you could buy anywhere. Cheers!
Laura deserves a good win!
Scott you did a nice job on the air cleaner lid. Cheers.
I love his Olds 98, the Tankomatic.
that and the '59 Buick are my 2 favourite cars among CWM's current projects
Hello !!! ..... Saturday afternoon CWM feature
Nailing the Buick together &
Olds action
Thank You for the video
A great torquetty torc, torquing show this week loads of hard work being bolted down. I could feel the steam rising from here on the old continent. A perfect CWM end to Saturday night.
Merci beaucoup mes amis agents, et la comtesse Frankers bien sûr.
Need to sell Matt and Jim on recording Strongs intro in the old 8mm. Had an old uncle who had one. Thanks for the memory
What a bargain, a classic Pontiac for sale at Dean's with a bonus episode of my classic tire thrown in for free.
I wish I was closer. I love that old Grand Prix. My first car was a 75 Grand Lemans- brings back good memories
Love that air cleaner revitalization. That tampo printing is only original once. 👌
Tampo! Thanks; I knew someone would know what it was called... Cheers Milo!
Glad to see the tire pile made it into the black and white footage. It looks perfectly at home shot on actual film.
Keep that grand prix for next winters beater challenge!!!!!!
I was thinking the same thing! If Dean was into that, I bet it would be great content! Plus a nice partner to Dean’s Edsel!
The toothpick trick is going to come in handy. Thanks!
I just LOVE the black & white movie camera bits!
Great to see the Buick and the Olds moving forward!!
The engine is going to sound good.
That Startex switch is basically made of unobtanium. That switch is worth the cost of the entire carburetor by itself. They have little brass shims in them you add or subtract to get the starter to engage properly and not clash when either engaging or disengaging.
Yeah! We'll detail the entire rebuild soon... the switch is in good shape, luckily!
So glad Dan's blazing through the Olds with gusto!
Also psyched you saved the wildcat paint on the air cleaner! The numbers on the Buick air cleaner stands for the torque specs for the engine under it and at that time not for the engines displacement of cubic inches. Turned out sweet.
Those lifters come packed from the factory in a solid box with each one in it's own separate holder and wrapped in plastic. I've pulled and shipped delivered and used tons over the years and never saw them shipped like that!
You're supposed to soak lifters in oil for a few hours or overnight before installing so they get lubed up nicely.
Run the engine without the coil connected to get the oil circulation through the passages and such before starting too, please.😢
Thanks again guys.
If Dean still has the 68-9 green Catalina or Bonneville that is in the drone shot in the promo shots and the engine is still running, toss it in the G.P. if I was up there I'd snatch it up quick!
Dean, keep up the good work
Thanks
Loved all the updates....Olds, Buick, Pontiac...GM triple crown....
Hope next time the nail head is completed. That 53 Olds Window vacuum motor. Hope he can get it running. The Dean greasy flip pretty sweet for Dean. Beer cans included. 😂
Thanks for sharing!
💯👍👊
Francine is the happiest dog in the world. .If that is even possible...I say that without checking every dog in the world.
Glad to hear someone's been busy in the studio cookin' up some new background tracks - they sound great! And you're just ripping through the '59 Buick- you'll be getting to the "fun part" before you know it! The commentary is always big fun to listen to- there's a lot of quotables on the subject of the "Big Picture" and picking a project worth your time! Looking forward to next week's Time-Pieces and Marc's impressive knowledge of old watches- if you like machines, you're In The Club!
Another excellent episode. Excited to see some hydraulic window action!
Stop, you had me at Buick enthusiast! Always love the videos, but especially Buick ones
That hydraulic pump system is so cool. Everything screams CLEAN ME!
My pooch always enjoys seeing the famous Frankers on ColdWarMotors.
For a level one tidy Scott, the air cleaner looks NOS! The crowning achievement for any engine!
Loved the Nailhead rebuild. Laugh at Dean's Grand Prix.
Hurray for G.C.E.F.C.E can't wait to see it windows work 😊 thanks again
Glad you are making progress on the Buick engine. That was very interesting work on the pump and motor for the hydraulic lift windows. Nice work Dan. Positive mojo to the Jackson family's challenge with the land use decision.
Prancing pups, vintage views from an 8mm, old Olds windings that seemed seized but sounded super,a well nailed Nailhead being 'long blocked' to a T,and a perfectly perforated Pontiac from our favorite greasy flipper himself the madman Dean slipping us a super slick specimen that actually has Floors ! Well, isn't that special? I hope Laura wins the battle against the witless. Somewhere in all the paperwork there must be a clause that the land was Only taken to do drainage.Seems stupid to build a giant parking lot where a swamp was supposed to be...? Cheers Everyone ! BTW Tom, I laughed pretty well and needed that.TY.
Hi Scott, you have done the work on the 364 Buick engine beautifully. Especially the air breather rework was great. Please follow that with a T-shirt of the Wildcat 445 design. The hydraulic window motor reworked was great, I really learned a lot on how that system works. I'm hoping that with Laura's petition on the farm land will be be resolved. I signed it and several of friends have pleaded to support it. I glad that you and other agents are doing well. Keep up the great work that you are doing and be safe. Cheers!
Thanks so much Aubrey! We'll see how it goes, but sadly it is a classic case of "trying to fight city hall" on this one. All the very best as always from me and Miss Frankers!
Dean, you should start offering add ons to boost profits and keep the shareholders happy - undercoat, curb feelers, cup holders, window tint, floor mats 😅
Awesome work Scott and team 😅!!! Love the 98 Olds, that’s the kind of car that makes you want to work 72 hours straight to see how far you can get 😅❤!!! Love the rattle can restore of the air cleaner 👍 😮!!!
Air Cleaner turned out AWESOME!!!
*Great Segment Scott ! Amazing how well stuff was made in our countries back in the day. Shame the younger generations have missed that. Love the 8mm stuff. Great job on air cleaner. Lifters in a bag ? Great 😖 . Think of all the nights Tommy Ivo assembled nailheads under a buzzing light. Gotta love Dean slurping old McBilgewater flipping a rustbucket Grand Prick with a Radio Shack stereo. Tell him I'll give him five bucks to get it out of my sight. Cheers ! 🍺🤛😎👍
0:41 Full Force Frankers hard at play with her old buddy Miles!
Wow, the best Dean Flip Show yet, artistic opening well captured and Dean was on point! Love the 8mm film bits that work so well with the cars/setting and Frankers. Lastly you and Dan and Mark knock it out of the park. Thanks Scott!
Glad you enjoyed it! I am looking forward to doing more of the 8mm, for sure!
